Superman is No Longer an American

    Friends,

I just got the news via Open Borders Globalist mouthpiece ABC about the Superman Movie. I will not go see it in the theaters now or every pay one dollar to those that made the damn movie. Boycott Superman!

ABC was explaining how perfectly understandable it was that there was a major change to Superman in the soon to be released version of the movie.

He would no longer stand for "Truth, Justice, and the American Way" and there would be no American flags.

They explained it was OK for two reasons. 1. Superman was an alien here to serve all mankind and 2. Many global markets hate Americans but still want to watch the movies we make to entertain them.

The American flag has been removed because it is hated and would hurt sales in other markets.

So no American Flag and 'No American Way' anymore in the American iconography of Superman.

Superman Killed by Globalism and commercialism... his Kryptonite. RIP 1938-2006

It's sad how promoting the U.S. is no longer PC in some situations.

I highly doubt I'll ever get to see Captain America made into a movie the way things are going. Perhaps they'll do Captain Planet instead (if anyone remembers that stupid cartoon) or just redesign Captain America to include Canada and Mexico.

More political correctness garbage. It is like some people actually want to destroy this country and its values. Bye bye Superman.

I read about this yesterday. It certainly is not understandable to me. Do most people just hate the idea of America anymore?

They sell their souls for money...and they have certainly sold it on this one. This should enrage every American to raise hell and boycott the whole damn industry.

We will boycott the movie if this is the case but the originators of Superman still say he is the American Way. http://superman.ws/americanway/comments.php

Also found this exerpt and think it's very interesting.
The superhero comic book, while often maligned, remains one of the truest reflections of our society. In many ways, superheroes are the great epic myths of America. They embody the core principles that we, as a nation, hold dear. They show our children literal pictures of morality and inspire us all on levels of which we may not even be aware.

Superman Returns Slogan Missing ‘The American Way’

    http://www.libertyfilmfestival.com/libertas/?p=1701
Superman Returns Slogan Missing ‘The American Way’

Stands for truth, justice and … global markets.

Here’s an illuminating account from gossip columnist Jeanne Wolf of why the slogan of the new “Superman Returns” is missing the words “the American way.”:

    “Can you recite Superman’s motto?
OK. I’ll give you a hint. “Truth, justice and …”

Oh, nooo. You said, “Truth, justice and the American way.”

Wrong. Not anymore. In “Superman Returns,” editor of the Daily Planet Perry White says, “Truth, justice and … all of that stuff.” And I found out the omission was no accident. I went straight to the writers, Mike Dougherty and Dan Harris:

Mike: “When it comes to the American way, that’s tricky.”
Dan: “I don’t think ‘the American way’ means what it meant in 1945.”
Mike: “He’s not just for Metropolis, and not just for America.”
Dan: “He’s an alien, from Krypton; he has come to Earth to be kind of a savior for this world, not our country … And he has no papers.”
Mike: “What would happen with the immigration laws we have now?”
Dan: “I’d like to see someone kick him out!”

Director Bryan Singer admits that when they made the revision to the legendary slogan, they did have the international market in mind. Which means American audiences might like to hear those words more than foreign ticket buyers. As far as the filmmakers are concerned, Superman is for all the world. And that world includes a lot of cash.”

Now this is really sad. It used to be that American films counted on making a significant amount of their money - in America! “Gone With The Wind,” the number one grossing film of all time, made over $1.29 billion dollars domestically (adjusted for inflation). The first “Star Wars” made $1.13 billion dollars domestically, “The Ten Commandments” made $838 milion domestically, and “Titanic” made $821 million domestically (all adjusted for inflation). I imagine that the rest of the top ten or twenty grossing films of all time (check out the full list on Box Office Mojo) also made much if not most of their money in America. The American market is still the single largest and most lucrative film market in the world, so it’s strange that Hollywood seems so willing to discount that American market at home in order to pander to the presumed anti-Americanism of markets overseas.

And why do the makers of “Superman Returns” assume that the words “the American way” or some other such pro-American sentiment would necessarily keep moviegoers away in the rest of the world? The “Spiderman” movies had American flags waving all over the place, and they made huge amounts of money both in America and abroad. The same is true of “Independence Day,” which very much had a pro-American message. Having lived extensively overseas, in particular in Asia, I can say that overseas anti-Americanism is greatly overstated, and I’m tired of hearing Hollywood liberals cite that as a reason for not including pro-American sentiments in their films.

Since 9/11 and the commencement of the War on Terror, Jason and I have travelled to Japan, Hong Kong, India, Thailand, Malaysia, Italy, England, and Canada - and we haven’t had a single anti-American comment directed at us. Whether visiting friends and colleagues, or chatting with people on the street, we’ve always been treated well as Americans abroad - and that includes in a Muslim country like Malaysia. (The media and diplomatic elites in some of these nations are another matter). Frankly, we find more anti-Americanism in the West Side of L.A. than we do in the average person we encounter overseas. People in the rest of the world (who tend to still have fairly traditional values) think that patriotism is a normal human emotion, and find it odd that America’s immensely wealthy and immensely privileged cultural elites have such trouble demonstrating it in their own films… Ironically, Hollywood’s lack of respect for America may in itself be one of the leading contributors to anti-Americanism abroad.
