Ted Cruz: A Vote for Rubio Is a Vote for Amnesty, a Vote for Trump Is a Vote for Obamacare
by MICHELLE FIELDS
30 Jan 2016
Republican presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) is ramping up his attacks on rivals Donald Trump and Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), telling voters in Iowa that “a vote for Marco Rubio is a vote for amnesty, and a vote for Donald Trump is a vote for Obamacare.”
Earlier Saturday, Cruz released a new ad titled “No More Deals,” which goes after Trump for being a crony who will strike deals with his Democratic friends if he’s elected president of the United States.
The ad insinuates that Trump would govern like former House Speaker John Boehner and Senator Minority Leader Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and give America legislation like Obamacare.
Cruz is also hitting Rubio while in Iowa, saying that Americans are “tired of being burned by politicians who claim to be against amnesty… Marco Rubio has gone on Univision and said in Spanish, ‘No, no, no, I wouldn’t rescind amnesty,’” Cruz said Saturday.
Despite his attacks on both Trump and Rubio, Cruz’s campaign continues to maintain that the race is between himself and Trump.
On Saturday, Cruz told reporters, “This race is a dead heat.” He added that “It is neck-and-neck.”
The latest Iowa poll, and the last poll before Monday’s Iowa caucus, has Trump with a five-point lead over Cruz. Donald Trump has 28 percent, followed by Cruz with 23 and Rubio with 15 percent.

That's the kind of twisted government we would have under Ted Cruz, telling us one thing and doing another, then lying about it when he gets caught. It's fine to criticize your opponent, but when you lie in ads about your opponents when people already know the truth, the ad is no longer an attack on your opponent, it's an attack on yourself and a waste of money. We want someone who can run our government efficiently with smarts and good deals, not desperate expenditures doing the opposite of what we want and need.
Poor Ted. So out of his League.

I think Cruz made some valid points. Rubio was a co-conspirator in the "gang of eight" amnesty bill which called for a path to citizenship for illegal aliens. Additionally, Trump does support a single- payer healthcare system. So yes, I guess you could say a vote for them would be a vote for amnesty and obamacare. Of course the same thing could be said regarding Cruz on homosexual marriage. A vote for Cruz could be a vote opposing homosexual marriage. By the way, I oppose homosexual marriage, however, that's not really relevant to my point.

See this is what I mean. Obamacare isn't a single payer health care system. I've supported a private single payer health care system for 30 years. I oppose private group plans with hospital discounts that force others to pay more for their plans because they don't have the same discounts as the big group plans. That's wrong. That may have worked 30 years ago when most people worked for an employer with a group plan, back when 80% to 85% of Americans had employer paid health insurance. But that no longer works and hasn't for a long time.
What is never discussed is the relationship between the growth in health care costs and the number of uninsured and the loss of manufacturing jobs in the United States, free trade treason and massive immigration. Today we need a private single payer health insurance program.
Obama doesn't support a single payer health system.Last edited by Judy; 01-31-2016 at 12:43 PM.

No it's not, but a single-payer system would be worse than what we have now. Aren't you tired of government intervention into our everyday lives?
Do you really want to go to a socialized health care system that lets the government ration our health care and institute waiting list for medical appointments and surgery? I for one do not!
Well, if Obama doesn't support a single-payer system, I guess he's got one up on Trump where the health care issues is concerned. A system that is totally subsidized by the federal government is not the way we need to go. Just imagine what it would do to our taxes. Very few things are free in life. Oh, and imagine what such a system would do to your beloved fair-tax numbers. To cover such an endeavor your 30% sales tax would have to go much higher. If not, how do you propose we taxpayers pay for such a system?

See this is what I mean. Trump doesn't support a socialized health care system. He supports a private single payer health care system that trades across state lines. With half of the country already on socialized health care through Medicaid, SCHIP and Medicare, this only applies to the half of the folks who aren't on a government program. Hopefully with a Trump Presidency, there will be less people on Medicaid and SCHIP because illegal aliens will be gone, immigrants will be reduced, and citizens will have good jobs again and can afford to purchase their own through a competitive industry that is regulated by the federal government instead of by states which is what occurs under interstate commerce that Trump supports.
Why would you think that because someone supports a single payer system where you buy individual plans that belong to you regardless of where you live or where you work is "free", "socialized" or costs the government anything? Trump's system will not be free and it will not be socialized.Last edited by Judy; 01-31-2016 at 01:38 PM.

A single-payer system is health services provided by a variety of public and/or private organizations but billed to a single entity. In policy discussions in the United States, the proposed single-payer is understood to be a government body in charge of administering tax payer subsidized health insurance funds. Such a system would be a disaster!

I guess that's what people who have government health insurance think, but for the rest of us, I had a private single payer policy for over 25 years, I was the sole payer, my husband had his own and he was the sole payer of his. Neither the government nor any other public/private organization had anything to do with our payments.

You know good and well when we are discussing a single-payer system we're talking about government subsidized health care for everyone. We're not talking about you and your husbands personal insurance plan. Did you not read this:

I've never heard of that. In my world single payer means individual pays versus group plan where someone other than the beneficiary pays.
Trump doesn't support a government paid plan for all, only for poor people and of course Medicare for Seniors.A Nation Without Borders Is Not A Nation - Ronald Reagan
