No trouble getting through to Lautenberg or Menendez. Of course the Menendez aide said she had not heard of any amendment...I gave her the run down and also told her about the truck explosion.

Anybody in NJ give them both a call.

THE SENATE IS IN RECESS UNTIL 2:15. THEY HAVE BEEN TOLD TO EXPECT TO WORK INTO THE NIGHT TONIGHT. THE FINAL VOTE ON THE TRANSPORTATION AND HOUSING (THUD) BILL IS EXPECTED AT 1 pm TOMORROW. THIS MEANS AMENDMENTS WILL LIKELY BE VOTED ON TODAY AND TONIGHT.

Dole plans to vote for the Dorgan amendment tomorrow, FWIW. Her office says she has been getting hundreds of calls about this today.
