Thread: Trump Meeting With Sen. Bob Corker on Possible VP Slot

Donald Trump will meet Monday with Tennessee Sen. Bob Corker, whom key Republicans consider a possible running mate for the presumptive nominee.

The pair is scheduled to meet at Trump Tower in New York City, The Washington Post reports, citing sources who asked not to be named.

Corker, 63, is chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. He is the former mayor of Chattanooga and was first elected to Congress in 2006.

He has had a key role in many foreign policy issues involving the Obama administration, including the Iran nuclear deal.

Corker has also called for a review of the U.S. visa waiver program in light of the Syrian refugee crisis.

The senator, however, has declined to say whether he was interested in the No. 2 slot on any presidential ticket.

"I just have no reason to believe I'm being considered for that," Corker told reporters earlier this month, the Post reports.

I am from Tennessee. Bob Corker is a mega RINO. In June of 2013 he played a critical role in getting the infamous mass amnesty bill, S744 passed in the Senate. Fortunately it was defeated in the House.

PATRIOTS I IMPLORE YOU SCREAM LOUD AND CLEAR TO THE GOP, NO DAMN CORKER. He is a miserable piece of garbage and is sure to strain the loyalty of Trump people in Tennessee which will be an easy win state for him, if he does not screw it up with Corker as VP.

I don't want to be "spoil sport" but I think Sarah Palin would be a great VP pick for Trump. Her plain spoken populist style of campaigning is a perfect match for Trump and she is with him on just about all of the issues. And for those who insist on using "identity politics" she is a woman when everybody is accusing Trump of being anti-woman.

palin is an unliked polarizing figure & killed mccain's run. The thoughts of her next in line to be pres is not a go nationally.

Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Corker (R-TN) met with presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump at Trump Tower on Monday.

Corker told CNN they had “a good meeting about foreign policy and domestic issues.”

“We had never talked except on the phone,” Corker explained. “It was more of a get-to-know-each-other kind of meeting. It was really more of a policy meeting.”

Trump’s meeting with Corker comes the week following a foreign policy meeting with former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger.

Trump’s son, Eric Trump, recently responded to his father holding various meetings with experts.

“He’s going to the best and brightest people,” Trump said of his father during an appearance Monday morning on Fox News. “He’ll ultimately make his own decision and chart his own path.”

“Corker is on Trump’s list for vice president, according to a source close to the campaign,” CNN reports.

Corker responded to the rumor of VP, saying he’s “not angling for any job.”

“You know there have been conversations about us sitting down and talking and we did that,” Corker said during an interview with CNN. “But certainly I think the best way to not end up in a position like those is to angle for it. But I have no indication whatsoever that I would be considered.”
