Now they are saying that this will hurt John McCain, so Republicans may turn to support their President, their Treasury Sec., their Presidential Candidate. So, Republicans may change they minds with this threat.

I just heard that Bush is calling a meeting with Paulsen, Congress heads, and Bernanke.

zeezil, this was said on CNBC when Senator Judd Gregg was interviewed.

I have already contacted two of the leading Senators who have been tasked with pulling House Republicans over to their side on the bail out. These are Senators Lamar Alexander and Senator Bob Corker of Tennessee. Senator Corker is a regular commentator to the media on the need for the bail out.

I don't really see how the bill can help or hurt McCain. It's a fact that the majority of the American public did not want this bill to pass. McCain and Obama both support a bailout. As for the political pundits and their opinions, don't believe anything you hear and only about half of what you see.

Time will tell on this. I believe if the market adjusts itself in the next few days, Pelosi won't touch this bill again, because it would be proven that the American people were right about this. Now, they may try to push some legislation that helps out the banks, but I don't think you'll see it at the scale of this bailout bill.

I'm hearing now on Fox News that Pelosi knew she didn't have the Republican votes when they brought the bill to the floor.
