Thread: PALIN AND ILLEGALS . WILL SHE FINISH US OFF ?

I have been on a website that thinks Sara Palin i the best to run in 2012 .

I did research and she is for illegal amnesty .

What is wrong with people ?

What do you think about her ?

I won't get started on my tirade about Palin, but I know that McCain was not pleased with her as veep to be.

Where does it say that she was pro-amnesty?

This really surprises me. Can you post the article or information that shows she is pro-amnesty??

I've yet to see anything which states she is openly pro-amnesty.

What I've found out though is that a lot of people see any reference to "immigration reform" as meaning a green light to amnesty or some other special treatment for illegal aliens.......

Mainly because that's the context within which we've come to equate it.

BUT, there is "immigration reform" which means none of those things too.....such as tightening requirements, moratoriums. mandatory standards and language skills to become citizens, etc. Heck....that's even my definition of immigration reform.

No though.....I've never seen anything from her in regards to the "A" word.

And I really get tired of listening to people bash her for the "Russia from my backporch" comment.......she intended it as a JOKE but, of course, her detractors used it as another excuse to pounce.....just like they go after her over her looks, personality, and other irrelevent issues.

I've said it before.......the dems are afraid of her some reason so she must be a political threat in some way.

She is a real threat because the Dems saw how her nomination rejuvenated a McCain campaign that was basically dead at the starting gate. I do believe she took some positions on illegal immigration that were in apposition to ALIPAC principles. How much of this was her true beliefs and how much came from being required to support McCain's policies is hard to say. As I recall, Alaska has illegal alien issues, including sanctuary cities and Palin never did anything about them. If she runs for the GOP nomination in 2012 she will have to reveal her true position on illegal immigration. When she is running her own operation, as opposed to having to kowtow to the party elites that McCain had, she could reveal a very different and appealing candidate with regard to illegal immigration. Certainly better than Huckabee.

As governor, how do you deal with them? Do you think they all should be deported?

There is no way that in the US we would roundup every illegal immigrant -there are about 12 million of the illegal immigrants- not only economically is that just an impossibility but that's not a humane way anyway to deal with the issue that we face with illegal immigration.

Do you then favor an amnesty for the 12 or 13 million undocumented immigrants?

No, I do not. I do not. Not total amnesty. You know, people have got to follow the rules. They've got to follow the bar, and we have got to make sure that there is equal opportunity and those who are here legally should be first in line for services being provided and those opportunities that this great country provides.

To clarify, so you support a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants?

I do because I understand why people would want to be in America. To seek the safety and prosperity, the opportunities, the health that is here. It is so important that yes, people follow the rules so that people can be treated equally and fairly in this country.

What is your strategy? How are you planning to win the latino vote?

I will tell you, I wish that there were more hours in the day so that we can get out there and to more of the communities with such the strong Latino vote that is out there and really tell them that we desire to work for them. We are asking them to hire us and let us work for them.
