Huckabee to Paul supporters: You lost, move on

Submitted by LibertyChat on Mon, 08/27/2012 - 19:21 in Daily Paul Liberty Forum

TAMPA—Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee has a message for Ron Paul supporters who say they feel “disrespected” by the Republican Party’s delegate allocation process: You lost, move on.

“I don’t think they’ve been disrespected,” Huckabee told a gaggle of reporters as we walked through the convention center here near the Tampa Bay Times Forum.

“Elections are about—you get numbers. I lost four years ago, and I didn’t feel disrespected as much as I felt defeated. You have to accept that the voters make a choice and the voters made a choice.”

AP Story on Yahoo Front Page: "Paul Delegates Mounting Floor Fight Over New Rules"

Submitted by Brian Middleton on Mon, 08/27/2012 - 17:43
    Ron Paul 2012

Yahoo: WASHINGTON (AP) — Rep. Ron Paul's delegates are trying to mount a floor fight over new GOP rules designed to limit the ability of insurgent presidential candidates to amass delegates to future Republican conventions.

They are getting help from other delegates, though it is unclear whether they can rally enough support to challenge the rules on the floor of the convention Tuesday.

Mitt Romney, the party's presumptive nominee, has plenty of delegates to win any floor fight. But the dispute could provide an unwanted distraction for party leaders who would rather focus on promoting Romney and defeating President Barack Obama.

Can Good People Work in a Corrupt System?

Submitted by TishaTCasida on Mon, 08/27/2012 - 19:25

In light of months of controversy surrounding Dr. Paul’s candidacy and his constitutionalist-supporters’ infiltration of the Republican Party at the State and local levels of governance, as well as the recent endorsement of Mitt Romney by Rand Paul (proverbial torch-bearer of constitutional government) – it begs the question of whether or not “working within the system” of the Republican Party is advantageous for those who feel that the size, scope, and efficiency of the federal government is out of control. And I don’t have an answer for this, but I can tell you what is not happening - as a candidate, a purist, and a staunch supporter of constitutional government.

1.) The “liberty movement” has largely been infiltrated by the Republican Party.

Several organizations that collect donations and then say that they “support liberty candidates and causes” will only support Republicans. And this begs the question of how they call themselves “non-partisan”. And it makes you question their integrity of actually supporting people who draw that hard line in the sand of what is constitutional or not.

2.) The Republican Party is not open to the idea of having the “next generation” of people who are fans of smaller government, be a part of their power structure, and fighting the Republican Party has worked to a point, but how beneficial could it be if we spent this time working with people who have opted out of their corrupt system entirely – could that be more beneficial for the cause of liberty?

3.) It gets really old trying to change something that does not want to change. You can’t change people. You can influence individuals, by empowering them with information to make their own conscious decisions. But to change a party, you are trying to change an entire collective, and that remains to be seen of how effective we have been at that. In addition to this, trying to force individual ideas on a group is the antithesis of the liberty movement – we may be better off stopping this vicious fight-cycle against “the party” and instead start embracing individuals around us.

4.) If Rand Paul has decided it is best for the “liberty movement” to embrace a Republican candidate who has no record of being a staunch advocate for individual liberty and a free market – doesn’t that mean that a compromise has been made and isn’t that the whole reason we got here in the first place? Because of compromises? What happened to drawing a line in the sand where the role of the federal government is, and letting States and localities beat out the intricacies of what is best for their citizens? Why is the federal government gaining so much power?

Good individuals can create new systems, but I do not believe that good individuals can work effectively within a corrupt one. The Republican Party is against mentoring in the next generation of statesman to replace their politicians. Many (not all) organizations that beat their chest about “supporting liberty” actually are only another tool of the Republican Party. And putting all of our eggs in the basket of one or two representatives to “save us” (e.g. Dr. Paul and Rand Paul) is a complete contradiction to everything that we stand for as people who promote personal responsibility, free will, and self-reliance. It is up to us – you and I as individuals - working as individuals to fix the mess we are in. We can’t change a corrupt system, but we can sure start a new one.

If you have not seen Tom Davis speak at the Paul Rally please take a look:

This man stole the show in my opinion and deserves more recognition than he is getting. Dare I say he be nudged toward a 2016 presidential run. Rand takes a backseat to the passion expressed by this patriot. Perhaps a Davis/ Paul ticket for 2016?

Stalinist moves by a Stalinist Party who picked a Stalinist candidate

    Submitted by Ian56 on Sat, 08/25/2012 - 06:07
    Daily Paul Liberty Forum

Reminds me of Party conventions of old.

    Moscow 1951 for instance.

    Stalinist ruling number 1
In a properly conducted Maine state convention, entirely within the Rules of the Maine republican Party , 20 Ron Paul delegates were duly elected.

In a vote today 13 out of 16 Maine counties voted to seat the 20 Ron Paul delegates.

Despite this the RNC credentials committee has ruled that only 5 Ron Paul delegates will be seated and the rest will be chosen by themselves, entirely against the Republican Party's OWN rules.

Governor LePage of Maine has stated that he will not attend the Republican Convention due to his disgust with his own Party.

Governor Le Page is NOT a Ron Paul supporter.

    Stalinist ruling number 2
In an improperly conducted Oklahoma state convention, the Convention chairman improperly called a halt to proceedings in violation of Oklahoma's Republican Party rules. He submitted a list of Romney supporters to the RNC as delegates.

The Convention chairman was about to be replaced and could see that Ron Paul supporters were in the majority.

The State Convention was properly continued without the previous chairman.

A list of Ron Paul supporters were duly elected as delegates.

The RNC ruled that the Romney delegates for Oklahoma would be seated in direct contradiction to Republican Party rules.

    Stalinist ruling number 3
TAMPA — The Republican National Convention Rules Committee voted 63-38 to approve a new rule allowing granting the Republican National Committee — and Mitt Romney — sweeping new powers to amend the governing document of the GOP.

The move came at the encouragement of Mitt Romney supporters on the committee, including Romney's top lawyer Ben Ginsberg, who stressed that it would grant "flexibility" to Romney and the committee to adapt to changing political environments. The rule allows the RNC to amend the party's rules without a vote by the full Republican National Convention. And it offers the Republican Establishment a new tool to keep at by Tea Party initiatives that threaten to embarrass or contradict party leadership and stray from a planned message.

    Conclusion
The Republican Party leaders have become so corrupt that they no longer follow basic democratic processes, but follow Stalinist principles of selecting candidates meeting their approval.

It is now not just a question of Romney losing in November, for that is certain, but to make the Republican Party lose so badly that it will disintegrate and collapse from the recriminations within itself.

It will be easier to rebuild or replace this corrupt organisation if it is burnt to the ground first.

    Romney himself espouses Stalinist policies.

    Central planning and big government.

The protection of special interests, large corporations and wealthy individuals (in the USSR these were senior Communist Party officials).

Tax cuts for the wealthy, tax hikes for the poor.

The transfer of any wealth from the population to the senior elites.

Horrendously excessive military spending (which eventually bankrupted the USSR).

Romney plans to spend $1,676bn p.a. or circa 48% of ALL government spending on the military.

No wonder there is no money left for anything else.

He plans to run circa $1.5tn deficits ad infinitum, or until the rest of the world says enough.

    The Romney/Ryan budgets http://ian56.blogspot.co.uk/2012/08/romneys-solution-to-wide...

Every Republican candidate who has endorsed Romney should be campaigned against and removed from office, wherever possible.

Romney should be made to lose as badly as possible.

    Make the Republican Party burn.
    http://ian56.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/gop-shoots-itself-in-foo...

For the sake of America, the Republic and the Constitution, this should be done.
