The Associated Press reported that at least 4 people were shot and 41 were taken hostage.

C'mon Janet Napolitano... let's see your case for ending the 287(g) program now....

This is terrible! And it is the fault of the federal government for not being consistent in enforcement of our laws!

We definitely need more information, I'm seeing accounts but don't know whether the information is premature, conjectural, or accurate at this point.

Gunman kills 13, takes 40 people hostage in Binghamton, New York


24/7 News Network: Breaking News! An armed gunman shot dead at least 13 people and took 40 others hostage at the American Civic Association Building at Binghamton, New York this morning (US Central Time). The gunman reportedly has sophisticated automatic rifle. Security forces have surrounded the building and trying to ascertain the damage and reason behind such madness.

According to reports from New York, all offices, schools and shops were closed near the area. The Civil Association Building houses the refugees who take shelter in the United States.

According to Fox News, the gunman is 20-year-old and is from Asian origin. It's not known whether he is from India, Pakistan or Afghanistan. All nearby houses were evacuated by the police. Ambulances and Fire Brigades were rushed to the spot. Commandos have taken charge of the operation. Further details are awaited.

This incident is could be about anything at this point... disgruntled employee, family member of a rejected illegal, illegal and frustrated himself, or just another random act of violence. But I'm leaning toward some kind of citizenship run around since he's attacking an immigration center but really don't jump to conclusions!

We need the following full information as fast as we can get it.

1. Was this a citizenship ceremony? If so, who were the targets of the gunman.

2. We need all details on the gunman we can get, name, age, race, background, etc....

Since this story involves immigration, we need to track the facts and get to the details fast to avoid any unfortunate misinterpretations of what has happened by the multi-million dollar smear groups.

The suspect was described as an Asian male in his 20s, between 5-feet 8-inches and 6 feet tall, wearing a bright green nylon jacket and dark-rimmed glasses.

Broome Community College Assistant Professor Tuong Hung Nguyen was asked to work with police to communicate with the shooter. Nguyen is fluent in Vietnamese.

Twelve confirmed dead in Civic Association shooting

Twelve people have been confirmed dead in this morning's shooting at the American Civic Association in Binghamton.

At least five people have been taken to Wilson Regional Medical Center in Johnson City, one in critical condition, two listed as serious. Another person was taken to Lourdes Hospital in Johnson City.

Both hospitals postponed all elective surgeries and called in extra personnel to staff their emergency rooms.

According to police reports, more than 40 hostages were in the building — 15 in a closet and 26 in the boiler room. Sharp shooters from the Binghamton SWAT team were poised outside the building at 131 Front Street. The Endicott police bomb squad is also at the scene.

Scanner reports just before 1:30 p.m. indicate that police were asking 26 people in the Civic Association to lie on the floor with the hands above their heads.

One woman who worked as a secretary reportedly was shot in the stomach.

Family members of the hostages and victims were being told to gather at 232 Main St. in Binghamton, while more ambulance crews were on standby.
