A gunman walked into a center Friday where immigrants were taking a citizenship test in Binghampton, N.Y., and killed 13 people and then committed suicide with a handgun.

The suspected gunman carried identification with the name of 42-year-old Jiverly Voong of nearby Johnson City, N.Y. The suspect's body was found with a gunshot wound in an office of the American Civic Association building, an immigration services center in Binghampton.

Police say he barged through the front door firing the handgun.

At least six people were wounded, one critically, and taken to hospitals.

The gunman had recently been let go from IBM in Johnson City, said Rep. Maurice Hinchey, whose district includes Binghamton.

"People were there in the process of being tested for their citizenship," Hinchey said in a telephone interview. "It was in the middle of a test. He just went in and opened fire."

At one point more than 40 hostages were being held in the building at 131 Front St. — 15 in a closet and 26 in the boiler room, the Press & Sun Bulletin of Binghamton reported. At 2:40 p.m., Binghamton police indicated the situation was over and that a SWAT team was making sure no more people were inside the building, where citizenship classes had been scheduled Friday.

This story like so many others with 24hrs of coverage is going to filled with speculation and spin to keep the ratings up until the facts are actually released.

If this guy was let go from IBM it might be case like some of the recent ones that have happened with people killing multiple family members or in-laws. Obviously this was an unstable person on the edge. Maybe he lost his job to someone here on a visa, we don't know what happened. He's obviously an immigrant himself if he's only been here 28 years and he's 42.

Notice how these nutbags always kill a bunch of people in so called sanctioned "Gun Free Zones" Like govt buildings, churches, schools. All places where good people that could have done something and fired back but they can't because they couldn't have their personal protection gun with them?

When they realize that when they outlaw guns only the outlaws will use and have them!!

I am just so sick of the media focusing on the gun and not the nutbag! Just like they do with calling illegals, immigrants and not focusing on their actions.

There is an amazing amount of cover up going on by the news media. During the press conference with the governor of NY, the Mayor, etc... they had already received phone calls from the White House.

The major media that usually covers 24/7 a story where any shooter kills anyone, is sure keeping this story underwraps!!!!! I just pick up small bits and pieces here and there...

Even Lou Dobbs is a "no show" tonight.

This just proves the national media is owned by the executive branch of our government. This is all the proof as to why we never hear of all the cruel and brutal murders committed by illegals in this country every day. We never hear the statistics that illegals have killed more peeps than all this country's major wars combined. All "not allowed to be reported".

Items seized from home of suspected NY gunman

By JOHN KEKIS, Associated Press Writer John Kekis, Associated Press Writer – 8 mins ago

JOHNSON CITY, N.Y. – Authorities have searched the home of the suspected gunman in the New York state immigrant center shooting.

Police carried out three computer hard drives, a brown canvas rifle case, a briefcase, a small suitcase and several paper bags Friday evening.

Thirteen people were killed at the American Civic Association center in nearby Binghamton before the gunman apparently committed suicide.

The suspected gunman carried ID with the name of 42-year-old Jiverly Voong (VUNG'). A law enforcement officer speaking on condition of anonymity said that was believed to be an alias.

Rep. Maurice Hinchey says the man known as Voong had recently been let go from IBM. The company could not immediately confirm that.

    Snip...
They may jump on it but the fact remains that through their efforts of the past everyone is pretty much unarmed now and at the mercy of anyone that wants to shoot at them.
