The chief must be taken to task of his idiotic and dead wrong coments. He would be removed immediately from his post if we had a sane governmental administration. I'll give a call myself on Monday to see what type of spin they apply on his verbal ignorant garbage.

"The Border Patrols mission is to keep the country safe from terrorist and terrorist weapons, he said. Carrillo added that when and if terrorists come into the country, the agents will be ready."

Like they did before 9-11 and all the other incidents.

Lets make sure everyone knows about Carrillo's idea of BP job discription, and that we are well aware of what is going on down at the border!! PLEASE CALL, FAX AND E-MAIL!

Until "we" can control the illegal alien problem, perhaps we should "ICE" the Diversity Immigrant Visa Lottery ... better known as the Green Card Lottery.

Please forgive me for dashing cold water, but it won't do any good to call DHS or ICE or CBP in Washington, DC. They won't listen to Congress on this, and they won't listen to us either.

That's how it is and how it has been on the border, at least since SPP 1 on March 23, 2005. The Border Patrol agents on the border want to do their job, but the honchos inside the Beltway - Chief David Aguilar, DHS Sec. Michael Chertoff, Atty. Gen. Alberto Gonzales, Pres. George W. Bush - EXPECT the BP agents to stand down. It's understood. It comes down from the top. The younger agents are really frustrated by this. The older agents are totally cynical and inured to the indignity of going through the motions after being sworn to uphold the Constitution and enforce the laws of the United States.

When called to pick up travelers on private property, the BP sometimes cannot come for the most inane reasons.

1) "We have to help a traveler with a broken ankle - he stepped in a gopher hole."

2) "How many do you have? We can't come for less than 25." (The little Border Patrol camper trucks only hold about 8 at the most.)

If you are calling ICE, they only come for a group of 25 or more. I even heard the number "50" mentioned once. We never see a group that size.

3) "We can't come. We're short-staffed tonight."

4) No quote on this occasion, but the scuttlebutt was that their orders of the day allowed them only 5 (or whatever) responses to us for the night. And that's what happened.

If the travelers run, a Border Patrol agent is not to pursue except with the permission of his superior. Sometimes they are doing a nab, and they actually go after the perps for all they are worth. Sometimes they are not taking in more deportees - no room in the inn - so everything is relaxed, no hurry, take your time. It is NOT a bribe for the particular coyote and his group of travelers; it is the policy for the night that governs BP activity. If BP doesn't want any more deportees, we might as well go back to camp and sleep (if the dogs will let us sleep).

The Border Patrol is UNDER ORDERS not to make a lot of apprehensions. They have to maintain an outward appearance of protecting the public, but everyone knows that their hands are tied. If they don't obey orders, they can look for another job.

And if they REALLY do their jobs right, they wind up in prison.

This was just on FOX news and the guy said the news papers misconstrued what he said He said his job is to arrest any one breaking the law comeing across the border and deporting them even just illegals looking for a better life. I think the guy was in alot of trouble the guy on FOX was pretty adamant about what the BP's job discriptions is

Carrillo must be fired ! It is obvious he favors Illegal Immigrants.

His Remark"Even if they are just looking for a better life" tells me he is sympathetic and will not uphold our laws !!!!!!!

Looking for a better life is NO excuse for Illegals anymore then it would be for a bank robber "Just Looking For A Better Life !!" to rob a bank !

USPatriot, it wouldn't surprise me if Carrillo has ties to the other side of the border. That is often the case with these people who say stupid things like that. There are several congressmen, mayors, etc. along the TX border who are clearly more sympathetic to the illegals than they are to Americans. They are supposed to BE Americans to have those jobs at all but apparently they are torn between loyalties. I'm thinking that if a person with Mexican ties truly wants a job as Border Patrol, they should be sent far away from the border to work because the temptation is always going to be there to do or say the wrong thing.
