    This is AWESOME news!

Can the states do something about their sanctuary cities? Do we know if any of the new state laws include clauses for that or is that not something the states can deal with individually.

I believe all mayors of cities that have a sanctuary policy should be prosecuted under the law that says it is illegal to aid an abet any illegal aliens.

This SCOTUS decision is also a slap down of Obama but of course he won't recognize it as such.

I also read today the Senate slapped down Obama's budget too not one senator voted for his budget.

This is what I have on that subject:

The federal immigration and naturalization scheme includes place for state and local authorities. 8 U.S.C. Sec. 1252c reads:

    (a) In general. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, to the extent permitted by relevent State and local law. State and local law enforcement officials are authorized to arrest and detain an individual who --
    (1) is an alien illegally present in the United States: and

    (2) has previously been convicted of a felony in the United States and deported or left the United States after such conviction, but only after the State or local law enforcement afficials obtain appropriate confirmation from the Immigration and Naturalization Service of the status of such individual and only for such period of time as may be requires for the Service to take the individual into Federal custody for purposes of deporting or removing the alien from the United States.

    (b) Cooperation. The Attorney General shall cooperate with the States to assure that information in the control of the Attorney General, including information in the national Crime Information Center, that would assist State and local law enforcement officials in carrying out duties under subsection (a) of this section is made availible to such officials.

The provision contemplates a circumscribed role for state and local officials to be sure , but the Arizona law authorizes a much broader role. particularly: the Arizona law authorizes arrest without a showing of a prior felony, the requirement under (a) (2), above. Here's the provision from SB1070:

    E. A law enforcement officer, without a warrant, may arrest a person if the offier has probable cause to believe that the person has committed any public offense that makes the person removable from the United States.

An alien's unauthorized presence in the United States is just such an offense under 8 U.S.C. Sec. 1227

In a 5-3 decision, the Supreme Court has upheld the Legal Arizona Worker's Act, passed in 2007, that allows the state of Arizona to punish employers who knowingly hire illegal immigrants. The "controversial" law was opposed by the Mexican American Legal Defense Fund and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

The Supreme Court has sustained Arizona's law that penalizes businesses for hiring workers who are in the United States illegally, rejecting arguments that states have no role in immigration matters.

By a 5-3 vote, the court said Wednesday that federal immigration law gives states the authority to impose sanctions on employers who hire unauthorized workers.

This ruling sets positive precedent for SB 1070 as the Supreme Court rejected arguments in the ruling that states have no role in immigration policy. A win for Arizona and numerous other states like Georgia, Utah, North Carolina, South Carolina, Nebraska and more who have taken the illegal immigration issue into their own hands due to the failure of the federal government to enforce immigration laws.

THEY ALL NEED TO ENACT THESE SAME LAWS BECAUSE, ILLEGALS ARE ONLY GOING TO LEAVE THE STATES THAT DO, IN FAVOR OF STATES THAT DON'T. ALSO, I THINK THEY SHOULD START USING THIS LAW BY GOING BACK SEVERAL YEARS AND RUNNING THIS INFORMATION ON EACH AND EVERYONE OF THESE PEOPLE HOLDING A JOB.

This law was passed in 2007 and is just now getting to court.

Looks like it will be a while before SB1070 gets to court.
    NO AMNESTY

Don't reward the criminal actions of millions of illegal aliens by giving them citizenship.
