Illegal aliens found in Chula Vista home raid

Suspected undocumented immigrants found in South Bay home

POSTED 1:18 PM, NOVEMBER 10, 2017, BY BOB PONTING, UPDATED AT 01:46PM, NOVEMBER 10, 2017

CHULA VISTA, Calif. – Officers following a fleeing man stumbled upon a South Bay home filled with suspected undocumented immigrants Friday, authorities said.

Sheriff’s deputies pulled over a car for a traffic violation at about 11:40 a.m. When the car stopped, one person got out and tried to flee, sheriff’s Sgt. Bill Kerr said. The man got into a tussle with a deputy and ran into a house in the 1400 block of Camellia Court.

Deputies called for backup from the Chula Vista Police Department. When officers had the house surrounded, they entered the home and discovered a group of undocumented immigrants were inside. At least six people were escorted out of the house and turned over to the Border Patrol.

The man who fled from the car was still inside the house and refused to come out, Kerr said.

Investigators said they believe gang members were using the home as a safe house to smuggle immigrants.

This developing story will be updated as more information becomes available.

Sheriff’s swat team now at Camellia Court in Chula Vista. We’ve seen lots of arrests already at what neighbors call “problem house” #NBC7

Yes, it is that simple. City and county law enforcement agencies can do this. This can and should be happening all day, every day, until they're all out of here. What is now impossible for federal agencies due to lack of resources at federal level, state and local law enforcement can do with ease at no cost in the normal course of their normal duties. 800,000 state and local law enforcement officers vs. 5,000 ICE Agents. Do the math. If you want to solve this problem and deport illegal aliens, then state and local law enforcement are the absolute key to getting this done.

What do you think it cost to pull 12 members of the Sheriff's Department off of patrol duty to act as the SWAT Team and send them across the county to help a city police department knock down the doors. Their time is money, and if their shift ends while they are doing it they all go on overtime. The sheriff's area has fewer officers patrolling and doing their regular jobs and the city had 10 officers on the scene too. And you think that was "AT NO COST"?

Correct, no cost. Same thing they do with their time in any stop, chase and swat scenario. They have more than ample time to do this job. Their average arrest records according to FBI statistics is less than 1.5 arrests per month per officer.

They can do this job and clean 30 million illegal aliens out of this country in less than 2 years AT NO COST.

    At Extra Cost?

So they should not enforce the laws because it costs too much? Their job is law enforcement. While their authority may be limited, they are duty-bound to enforce all laws.

The problem is, they let them go. They shouldn't! Long ago when I was in trucking, and illegal hit one of my rigs. The cop let him go, saying he would probably be back in Mexico the next day. The fact is, he had custody of a person who violated the law by being here, then additionally was illegally driving an unregistered car. That guy might have run over someone after he was released from that accident scene.

How many times have you scene a simple accident or crime scene and every police car in town is on the scene? When my father died at his truck yard, he was dead. I called the cops and within 2 hours we had ten cops waiting around until the coroner arrived. This was an accidental death, not an active shooting scene. Someone commented that this would be an excellent time to rob a store somewhere else in the city. Public servants are not always the most efficient.

    NO.
The point was Judy said it was "AT NO COST".

I only pointed out that there was considerable cost involved.

Nowhere did I say they shouldn't do it.

There is no cost involved in doing this. The efforts are already paid for, the public is just g etting some benefit back from expense they have already incurred.

    UPDATE

Routine traffic stop ends in SWAT standoff in Chula Vista, several undocumented immigrants taken into custody

    Posted: Nov 10, 2017 3:07 PM PSTUpdated: Nov 10, 2017 5:01 PM PST

CHULA VISTA (KUSI) — A Sheriff's Deputy sustained minor injuries Friday during a vehicle stop near Orange Ave and I-805 in Chula Vista while working a multi-agency narcotics interdiction operation.

The vehicle was originally stopped for a vehicle code violation. Shortly after the vehicle yielded, a passenger fled despite commands by deputies to remain in the vehicle.

The passenger of the vehicle — Fernando Salas — resisted deputies attempts to detain him. As a result the deputy sustained a minor injury to his right knee. Salas fled into a nearby residence in the 1400 block of Camellia Ct.

Salas refused deputy's commands to exit the home, and due to information that he was possibly armed the Sheriff's Department Special Enforcement Detail was called to respond.

Prior to the arrival of Sheriff's Special Enforcement Detail Salas was made to leave by the occupants at the home. Once Salas exited the home he was taken into custody by deputies on scene for Resisting an Executive Officer 69 P.C.

The driver of the vehicle — Daniel Garcia — was arrested for 11377 (a) H.S. Possession of a Controlled Substance, and 21810 P.C. Possession of Metal Knuckles.

A person inside the house — Angel Garcia — who was unrelated to the initial traffic stop was also arrested for 273a(a) P.C. felony child endangerment due to his actions during the incident.

During the incident several other people ran from the house.

Sheriff's deputies and Border Patrol Agents who were on scene participating in the narcotics interdiction operation detained those individuals for public safety. The only arrests made by the Sheriff's Department are listed above.

Call Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477 with information and you will remain anonymous. You may be eligible for up to a$1,000 reward for information leading to a felony arrest.
