He didn't say "I have" he said "have". I take it to mean the two Mexican families each took care of the problem for themselves, probably by fixing one or both of the adults in the family.

That's exactly what I meant!!! In re-reading my post though, I could see where it could have been taken both ways so I appreciated the humor of Americangirl's reply.

I love it!! Man, am I laughing! I think that Canada will put up with
a lot more of them, though. After all, they've had longer than we
have to get used to being squashed by Socialism. It's interesting
that the Canadians in the newspaper are using the same phrases
that we get bashed over the head with here every day; i.e. "good,
hard-working people" and "we are a country of immigrants". I guess
you can get a lot of people to regurgitate propaganda if you hammer
it home often enough.

The whole thing sounds more like an all-expense paid vacation than
"fleeing persecution". I've always wanted to visit Canada, and I do
speak some Spanish.

I think I'll print up some maps with instructions to the promised land
over-flowing with milk and honey and money.
