I don't buy what NBC is trying to sell. In fact, anytime any of the major networks try to take a stand on something, I always wonder about their intentions. When Paramount cancelled Tom Cruise's contract because of his off-screen controversies, I had to laugh. Paramount would be first in line to buy rights to the life story of Cruise if someone were to present it. I think NBC would do the same thing if someone came to them with the story of the Dixie Chicks fall from grace.

I don't support the Chick's ideas, though I still enjoy listening to their music, pre-Bush blast. Their camp calls them "courageous entertainers". Please!!! Courageous? Had they said that on US soil, or even right here in the great country of Texas...now that would be courageous...or foolishly asking for it. Why didn't they do it here? Because they knew that at that time many people would have booed them and their politics off the stage. Some people lump an attack on Bush with an attack on our troops, and some, including John Kerry, actually do attack both Bush and our troops. The Chicks knew they had a sympathetic audience in England. A very calculated miscalculation, you might say. They knew the Brits would cheer, but didn't calculate the US backlash.

Bottom line, NBC and the other networks will work their hypocricy when they choose. I agree with a previous writer: what good is NBC anyways? I don't watch that network for anything, nor will I see the Chick's new flik.

OK, I'm confused here. Looking over the last several posts it is clear to me that many of you do not like the Dixie Chicks, based on their statement at a concert in England on March 10, 2003. What Natalie Maines said was this, "Just so you know, we're ashamed the President of the United States is from Texas."

Many of you have construed this statement to mean they 'gave comfort to the enemy' or were 'disloyal to our nation' or were 'the puppets of the DNC'. How you read all of these things into that 15 word sentence is beyond my ability to reason. If anything, based on our 'fearless leaders' CURRENT popularity, those 15 words stand almost as prophetic.

Bash them, hate them, brand them traitors if you must, but realize that GWB was a Globalist traitor to this country long before those words were spoken, he is a traitor today, and will continue to be a traitor long after this 'term' is up. Mark my words, folks, 2008 is a long way away, martial law and the suspension of elections is as close as a signature.

If the choice is supporting 'the Chicks' or 'the Prez', I stand with the Chicks.

    I agree Bearpaw!
Entertainers should stick to doing their job and leave politics out of it.
One of the Baldwin brothers said he would leave America if Bush was elected Pres. but he is still here.
I'm all for free speech but I would not go up to some big tattooed drunken biker and cuss him out, you need to think before you speak.
The chicks statement made to a crowd in the UK was meant to give them support from the folks there who did not like Blair backing the USA in Iraq and it backfired on them.
It's one thing to state any disaproval you may have with our country here but don't go abroad and kick your own country in the teeth, espeacially at a time when Americans were pretty tired of getting their teeth kicked in.
I think many Americans veiwed this as an act of treason at the time.
The chickens also made some bad remarks about Toby Keith for his words in a song of his, something about America will put a boot up your a**.

    PINE,
with all due respect as you know I value your opinions

    1. to state their "politics" on foreign soil is wrong. Period. Plain wrong!
Stay here and fix the problems.......not in a socialist country!! Cowards and selfish dumb asses.

    2. everyone had better get it in their heads that, no matter what a piece of traitorous trash bush is, our combat troops come first. Their bull shit DID in fact, give aid and comfort to our enemy. This enemy is savvy, smart and very seriously knows how to use the press to stimulate their braindead followers to do damange. They pray to allah for this crap to be plastered all over the press!!! To make the soft Americans fear death and force us to run once again. Paper Tiger? It's no joke!

To any and all who choose to spout off their anti-war, circa 1970 BS in public, know that you have put another bullet into &/or placed another IED under our troops. THAT I resent with my entire being. THAT I will fight with all my strength. The troops resent you and wish you'd shut the hell up while they're fighting. They want to get the job done and do NOT want to be redeployed. They know this enemy up front and personal and want them dead.

All one needs to do is to listen to the enemy and you will know that you have helped them in their hateful murder.
When they come for YOU........who will you call? Perhaps one of those kids who selflessly put themselves on the line almost every day?

No matter what you or I believe, know without doubt that this crap spewed out of mouths such as the chicks, penn and the libs are hurting this country worse than ever before. It is harming our fighting men and women for which we will suffer greatly in the future.

NOTE: for those of you who may be curious, NO, I did not want to go into Iraq. My preference {looks as though I might have been correct} was to wipe Iran off the map once and for all.

    vent over

Used to listen to the DC's all the time, and then they opened their Yaps and that was it for me and a whole lot of other folks. While some have stopped listening to them because of their talk about bush, I stopped listening to them after they,

    (1) Supported Muslims and said anyone who does not are Bigots etc..
    (2) Trashed Toby Keith
    (3)Trashed Reba McEntire
    (4) Called people who listened to country music rednecks, and that our opinion did not matter.
    (5) And last but at the top of my list, these POS chicks support Illegal immigrants and think they should have the same rights as Americans. In fact on of their last songs before they went belly-up was pro-illegal.

So forget bush, these sluts have done a whole lot of crap against Americans and America.

That's quite the list. I had to read it to my wife, I liked it so much. By the way, she was wondering which song referred to the illegals.

For what it's worth, I am ashamed the Dixie Chicks are from the US! They need to change to a rock band instead of a country band, they would do well there. Yea, your right, I just don't like them.Bush cannot hold a candel for being arrogant to these little girls arrogance!

IMHO, what the Dixie Chicks did in England was incomprehensiable, unpatriotic, cowardly, and just dead WRONG!

Our dirty laundery should remain in our own hamper!

President Bush represent the United States of America. Most of us don't care for many of his policies, me included, but I do respect the office he holds and would never consider demeaning that office in another country. With that said, I believe the Dixie Chicks are self-serving idiots that don't deserve to be called Americans!

The song was Long Time Gone. And I believe it came right on the heels of their Hug a Muslim statements.

If you heard the words you would think that it might actually be about something else, but the Video was pro-illegal all the way. The cast, except for the Dixie Chicks, were all Mexicans and included border town footage. The last clip idolized some mexicans crossing the border illegally.
