Thread: Sarah Palin 'did not know Africa was a continent', say aides

Sarah Palin spent "tens of thousands" more than the quoted $150,000 on clothes for the Republican campaign, met McCain aides in her hotel room dressed in nothing but a towel, and did not know Africa was a continent, according to new reports.

Fox news has reported that Mrs Palin did not understand that Africa was a continent, not a country, and did not know what countries were in the North American Free Trade Agreement.

In separate claims made in the latest issue of Newsweek magazine, the Republican vice presidential nominee was reported to have been told to buy three suits for the Republican convention, and to hire a stylist. Instead, she went on a spending spree in upmarket stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus.

Quoting unnamed sources within the McCain camp, the magazine alleges that most of the clothes were bought by a wealthy donor, who "was shocked when he got the bill."

An angry aide described the shopping spree as "Wasilla hillbillies looting Neiman Marcus from coast to coast", and predicted that the truth would eventually come out when the Republican Party audits its books.

The magazine also claimed that Mrs Palin used low ranking staffers to buy some of the clothes on their credit cards, and that up to $40,000 was spent on clothes for her husband Todd.

A number of articles of clothing have been lost, the magazine states.

The disclosures are made in "How He Did It, 2008", in Newsweek's Special Election Project, a behind-the-scenes account of the presidential election produced the day after the polls closed.

The magazine also claims that at the GOP convention in St. Paul, when aides Steve Schmidt and Mark Salter went to her hotel room to brief her, Ms Palin walked into the room wearing only a towel, with another on her wet hair. She told them to chat to Todd, adding: "I'll be just a minute."

Other election revelations include that on the night Hillary Clinton officially lost the Democratic nomination, she enjoyed a long and friendly phone conversation with McCain.

"Clinton was actually on better terms with McCain than she was with Obama," reports the magazine. "Clinton and McCain had downed shots together on Senate junkets; they regarded each other as grizzled veterans of the political wars and shared a certain disdain for Obama as flashy and callow. "

She had no idea which countries composed North America, what NAFTA was or that Africa is a continent. Thank God McCain didn't get elected and then promptly drop dead from old age and stress.

I knew she was dumber than a box of rocks the minute she opened her mouth, but apparently she's even dumber than even I would have ever imagined.

Exactly. He also didn't KNOW that his aunt was in the country illegally and had illegally donated to his campaign.

He also doesn't know where many of his campaign contributions came from or that ACORN is involved in massive voter fraud....which no doubt put him into the elect position to begin with.

Oh, and let's see.....he also didn't know Ayers is a terrorist and Wright is a racist.

And you can bet his wife doesn't shop at Wal Mart.


Before people go throwing stones at others using "unnamed sources" they ought to check in their own closets.

What is evident from these reports, which Wolf Blitzer on CNN will be reporting about shortly, is that first she is dumb, greedy (for new wardrobes) and uneducated enough to have no clue about the problems this country faces. I think she has convinced herself that being "nice-looking" will overcome her shortfalls, of which there are many.
Of course, Africa is a country, but Alaska is a continent. It gets hard to keep them straight as they both start with "c".

Sarah Palin was the ONLY asset to the McCain campaign. I doubt he would have received half of the votes without her.
Can you imagine how the Country would talk if she wore the clothes in her closet? Alaska is not known for it's high fashion.

It is a BIG DEAL. At 72 years of age, is not only senile, it is more likely than not that McCain would have dropped dead (probably within a month after taking office) and most definitely he would have been overwhelmed and mentally challenged dealing with the mess Senor Boosh is leaving behind. Thus, Palin the idiot would have become the 44th POTUS.

As for Obama thinking there are 57 states, its quite the stretch to PRETEND that he does not know how many states there are. He simply mis spoke. If he was even half as STUPID, ignorant and uneducated as Palin (who finally graduated college after attending SIX OF THEM) obviously IS then I'd have no problem agreeing with you. The man is a Harvard graduate, intelligent, smart,articulate, has common sense, charm, wit and is highly educated both in and outside of the political arena.

Sara Palin on the other hand? She can see Russia from her porch, oh and she thinks Africa is a country and had no clue WHAT NAFTA IS OR WHICH COUNTRIES COMPRISE NORTH AMERICA. Is she beyond stupid, and the equivalent of Boosh with half of his tiny brain? YOU BETCHA -lol

I think Michelle Obama will be next on the radar for the press to make fun of (and they will). Especially after wearing that hideous dress the other night. Man, that was totally tasteless-looked like a witch threw up on it!

Well, Our new Vice President elect, Joe Biden is not going to be invited to any Mensa conventions in the near future. He was responsible for saying the following:

I'm actually indifferent to Sara Palin. But if we are going to be critical of someone's knowledge, or lack thereof, then both sides are fair game! As far as the clothing is concerned. Well, sure that's a lot of money to be spending on clothing. Granted.

However, I'm more concerned that Barack Obama managed to raise and spend close to a billion dollars running for the POTUS! This guy is bought and paid for! Let's put things in proper perspective...
