Ron Paul Defeats Obama In Head To Head Polling

Submitted by Tyler Durden on 02/29/2012 20:40 -0500

Here's a chart you won't see anywhere in the mainstream media - not the right, and certainly not the left. According to Rasmussen's 2012 Presidential Election Matchups, which pit Obama against any of the four GOP presidential candidates, while the balance of challengers certainly appear to have no chance of defeating the incumbent (something we touched upon yesterday), today, for the first time, Ron Paul has managed to unseat the standing president, by a thin margin of 43 to 41, for the first time in this series.

Source: Rasmussen Reports (premium subscription required)

On the survey methodology: "Surveys covering three days are of 1,500 Likely Voters and Surveys of Two Days are of 1,000 Likely Voters. All Surveys Have a Margin of Error of +/- 3% ."

Some more from today's Rasmussen blog:

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows that 25% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Forty percent (40%) Strongly Disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -15 (see trends).

Just 19% favor increased U.S. involvement in Syria. The Obama administration receives mixed reviews for handling that situation to date.

On the energy front, 58% believe that free market competition is the best way to get gas prices down. Just 27% think government regulations are a better approach. However, 67% believe that oil companies are using bad news to gouge customers.

In a possible 2012 matchup, Mitt Romney earns 45% of the vote, while the president attracts 44%. If Rick Santorum is the Republican nominee, the president leads by three, 46% to 43%. Matchup results are updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern
What is oddly missing is that Ron Paul earns 43% of the vote, to Obama's 41%.

So on one hand Ron Paul defeats the president head to head, and on the other, the GOP itself tells us he is a distant third to two frontrunners who frankly make one question the sanity of every American voter?

Ron Paul To Ben Bernanke: "People Lose Trust In The Government Because You Lie To Them About Inflation"

Submitted by Tyler Durden on 02/29/2012 11:29 -0500

Anytime Ron Paul sits across from Ben Bernanke you know sparks will fly. Sure enough, they did: starting 3 mins 50 seconds into the clip below, Ron Paul, guns blazing, asks the Chairman if he does his own shopping, if he is aware of what true inflation is, and if he knows that Americans don't trust the government because they are being lied to about inflation. And it only gets better, once Paul starts brandishing a silver coin. The punchline: "The Fed will self-destruct anyway when the money is gone" - amen. And ironically letting the Fed keep on doing what it is doing will achieve that in the fastest possible way. In fact, letting the system cannibalize itself with no further hindrances may be the best option currently available - just go to town.

Ron Paul Wins at Least Six Delegates in Wyoming Caucus

Garners 21 percent of the total vote, defying expectations and affirming delegate-win strategy

LAKE JACKSON, Texas – 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul gained six delegates as a result of winning 21 percent of the vote in the Wyoming caucus.

The end result of the contest is that if the next stage of the Wyoming nominating process goes as planned, Dr. Paul will take at least six of the 26 delegates tied to the caucus process with him to the Republican National Convention.

Caucusing in the state occurred between February 9th and 29th. The vote total of 439 votes cast for Ron Paul out of 2,108 total votes cast was especially notable in that the Paul campaign had no paid staff on the ground in Wyoming. In addition, the organization purchased no advertising and held no events, yet the candidate and campaign have stunned establishment expectations by winning five of 23 counties.

Also notable is that Ron Paul received more than two and a half times the vote total of would-be Republican frontrunner Newt Gingrich, once considered one of the “two” in a “two man race.”
“Ron Paul winning six delegates in Wyoming using few resources is an extraordinary outcome and it affirms that our delegate-attainment strategy can help Dr. Paul secure the Republican nomination,” said Ron Paul 2012 National Campaign Chairman Jesse Benton.

“The race to see who will face President Obama in a head-to-head matchup, a scenario that best favors Paul, is a 50-state one and ours is one of only two campaigns with the stamina, organization, and resources to get to Tampa on the way to the White House,” said Mr. Benton, referring to the site of the Republican National Convention and to Mitt Romney.

Ron Paul Campaign Now Airing TV Ad in Idaho Continuing ‘Super Tuesday’ Buy Strategy

‘Three of a Kind’ airs in Gem State, setting record straight on Paul’s rivals and presenting him as sole, authentic conservative

BOISE, Idaho – The Ron Paul 2012 Presidential campaign announced today that it is now airing its celebrated ad ‘Three of a Kind’ in Idaho, continuing a strategy launched yesterday to help Dr. Paul win delegates before and on Super Tuesday.

Three of a Kind’ is airing now through Tuesday, March 6th – Super Tuesday – on the Fox News Channel and on targeted broadcast. Yesterday the campaign announced that it is airing ‘Three of a Kind’ in neighboring Washington State beginning yesterday through the Evergreen State’s Saturday, March 3rd caucus, as well as airing the upbeat 30-second spot ‘Plan’ in Vermont from yesterday through Super Tuesday when the Green Mountain State holds its primary.

Three of a Kind’ at 60 seconds condemns the serial hypocrisy, counterfeit conservatism, and flip-flopping of Ron Paul’s rivals Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, and Mitt Romney respectively. The ad concludes with a reminder that Paul is the sole authentic conservative vying for the nomination, and reiterates elements of the congressman’s path-breaking ‘Plan to Restore America.’

“By airing ‘Three of a Kind’ in Idaho, we’re demonstrating Ron Paul’s commitment to Idahoans who have welcomed Paul and other candidates to their state far earlier than they have in prior presidential election cycles,” said Ron Paul 2012 National Campaign Chairman Jesse Benton.

Delegate-rich Idaho is fertile ground for a competitive showing by Dr. Paul and we’re working hard to ensure that the Gem State proves to be an integral part of our delegate-attainment strategy to win the nomination,” added Mr. Benton.

Idaho with 32 delegates recently changed its nominating contest from a May primary to a March caucus, meaning the state is having a greater say in which candidate wins the party nomination. Once overlooked, the state has more delegates than Iowa, New Hampshire, and Nevada.

Washington State GOP Attempt to Steal Election from Ron Paul?

Submitted by Kathleen Gee on Thu, 03/01/2012 - 06:48

The Ron Paul presidential campaign, suspicious of the Republican establishment, has accused top Washington GOP officials of "shenanigans" in delegate appointments ahead of Saturday's precinct caucuses. [...]
[Ron Paul campaign attorney] David Warrington alleged "substantial irregularities" in the selection of precinct-committee officers (PCOs) in King County [Washington].
PCOs are important because they run caucuses and become automatic delegates to the county and legislative-district conventions that will help determine how to allocate Washington's 43 delegates to the Republican National Convention this summer in Tampa, Fla.
While PCOs are normally elected, vacant positions can be filled through appointments by party leaders.
The Paul campaign raises the suspicion that King County GOP Chairwoman Lori Sotelo may have violated party rules and appointed PCOs after a Dec. 14 deadline — presumably to stave off a Paul victory here.

Pennsylvania Man Claims to have had a Decade-Long Romantic Relationship with Rick Santorum

    February 21, 2012
    By Sarah Wood

A Pennsylvania man has just come forward revealing that he has had a decade-long romantic relationship with former Senator and presidential candidate, Rick Santorum.

Santorum has been very vocal in his viewpoints on homosexuality and how it is hindering our society from moving forward in a moral manner. However, Hugh Johnson knows a completely different side of the former Senator that he wants the American public to know about.
    Johnson told FWP:
I think Ricky is overcompensating his true feelings towards homosexuals. If people really knew the Ricky that I know, they would know that he is a kind and gentle soul that wants everyone to have the ability to love whoever they so choose. I’m finally coming forward because I can’t stand do see the pain in his face any longer. He obviously wants to come out with it, and maybe this will be the nudge that he needs. However, if he denies being my lover, I can only assume that he is doing so because he knows most other Republicans want him to hate homosexuals… but I can’t imagine Ricky hating anyone, he is a magnificent human-being.

Johnson said that he met Santorum at the “Bear of the Ball” wine mixer in the spring of 2000 in Philadelphia. It wasn’t until Santorum decided he wanted to try a bid at the White House that he finally broke off all ties from Johnson.
Now, with Johnson breaking his silence, will there be enough time for Rick Santorum to change his stance on homosexuality after all? Only time will tell.
