Ron Paul to Evangelical Ministers: I'm in!

    Evangelicals turn to Ron Paul

In the wake of Senator Rick Santorum’s departure from the presidential race there are signs that some evangelical leaders are refusing to jump on board the Mitt Romney bandwagon and are turning to Congressman Ron Paul instead. The Texas congressman spoke to several thousand people last night at the Will Rogers Auditorium in downtown Fort Worth but met quietly afterward with evangelical leaders.

Why Ron Paul? And why now, when the race is being declared “done” by the main stream media?

“Because you don’t give away your support without getting something in return,” says a former congressman who has been at the heart of the Christian right movement since its beginning. The longer that Ron Paul and Newt Gingrich stay in the race, the more likely that Romney will be forced to take a evangelical conservative as his vice presidential nominee.

Why not turn to Speaker Newt Gingrich, a Catholic who is a former Southern Baptist, with views that resonate with evangelicals?

“If we had to do it over again, we should have gone with Gingrich,” one of Santorum’s supporters told me today. But if we switch to Gingrich now we risk another drop out.” The former Speaker reportedly has debts of $ 4.2 million and has asked the Romney campaign for help in retiring them. Romney reportedly declined.

Meanwhile, the Ron Paul campaign, with cash on hand, has begun airing television ads in Texas and launches another moneybomb this weekend.
“I have one question for you,” one of the ministers reportedly said in the private meeting last night with Dr. Ron Paul, “Are you going to drop out? Or will you stay in all the way to Tampa?”

    “I’m in,” the Texan replied.

“That’s all I need to know,” the minister said.

The evangelical community began reaching out to Dr. Paul almost immediately after Senator Rick Santorum dropped out of the presidential race. Yesterday, Pastor Steven Andrew of USA Christian Ministries announced his support of the congressman, calling for a day of prayer and fasting. Andrew released a statement saying that, “After Santorum, Ron Paul is the most God-fearing Presidential candidate [and] the Republican party should endorse him.” Andrew said that “If Republicans don’t give a Christian candidate, Christians should look elsewhere – even to a third party.”

The Christian Wire service ran an article yesterday saying that Christians like the fact that Ron Paul “opposes tyranny, would cut the deficit and is prolife.”
A prominent television evangelist , speaking on the promise of anonymity, says that there was great disappointment in Rick Santorum’s withdrawal from the race. “No one faults a man for being a good father, and dropping out to take care of a child, but it hurts many of us very deeply. We were counting on him to lead our cause.”

Foster Freiss, the Wyoming billionaire who financed the Santorum Super Pac, has publicly said he will now help Mitt Romney.

Meanwhile, evangelical leaders are skeptical of any of their brethren who are now pledging to Romney. “They are trotting out the same old bought and paid for names, Richard Land and Jay Sekulow, and acting like they are new.” A Gingrich supporter who is quite vocal about his disappointment with the Santorum campaign suspects that evangelical leaders who supported Santorum, did so in return for donations to their nonprofit organizations. “They will now try to repeat the same thing with Romney and are already in the news laying the foundation for their appeal. It is appalling.”

But the rank and file evangelicals are not for sale and many seeking an end to the corruption in Washington see Ron Paul, a born again Christian, as their best voice of protest and the best way to force Romney to deal with them.

Steve Scheffler, president of the Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition and a GOP national committeeman, is dumbfounded that the Romney’s campaign had so far made no effort to reach out to evangelicals.

“The presidential race is likely to be truly competitive,” Mr. Scheffler said, “in about a dozen states, including Iowa, and the Republicans will need to motivate people to volunteer at calling centers and put up signs. I don’t think there’s much room for error.”

Meanwhile, the Ron Paul people continue to fill the vacuum. In Iowa they are helping Scheffler and other Santorum people get re-elected to their positions. They can afford to be generous, they have everything else.

Says Brian Jacobs, a former consultant to Billy Graham and to evangelical leaders such as Kenneth Copeland, “Ron Paul is a born again Christian who is untainted by this corruption that has engulfed Washington. It should be no big surprise that evangelicals are discovering him.”

Ron Paul speaks to 3,000 at Will Rogers Auditorium, Ft. Worth, Texas, 4/11/12.

Constitutionally INELIGIBLE Candidate MITT ROMNEY Fights with Reporter After Being EXPOSED

    Jan 9, 2012

He is ineligible just like Obama. Romney's father was a Mexican Citizen when Romney born. This means he is NOT a natural born citizen. As Obama will be forced to leave the White House, Romney will have to drop out!

Romney is for special interest groups and he would be in office illegally just like Obama is.

Ron Paul to Be Endorsed By Pennsylvania State Senator Mike Folmer at Philadelphia Rally

Lebanon Senator inspired by Paul’s consistency and fealty to the Constitution to introduce Congressman on Independence Mall

LAKE JACKSON, Texas – 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul was endorsed today by Pennsylvania State Senator Mike Folmer (R-Lebanon). Representing the 48th District, Sen. Folmer serves an area encompassing all of Lebanon County and parts of Berks, Chester, Dauphin and Lancaster Counties.

Sen. Folmer issued the following statement ahead of the official announcement he will reiterate at a Ron Paul campaign event on the Independence Mall in Philadelphia. Details of the Sunday, April 22nd event follow the statement and bio below.

“Ron Paul is as consistent today as he was four years ago and as I know he will be four years from now. No matter who Ron Paul is meeting with, no matter where, and no matter what the issue, Ron Paul stays true to his beliefs – the same ones that led me to run for office. These are an unwavering respect for the Constitution, respect for the sanctity of life, a commitment to less government, and a furtherance of personal responsibility.”

“My ‘Promise to Pennsylvania’ and Ron Paul’s platform are very similar: legislative and political reform, tax and spending reform, and legal and labor law reform. These are issues I have been fighting for at the state level and I wholeheartedly endorse Ron Paul in his quest to return this country to the principles of our Founding Fathers. Ron Paul has not only read the Constitution, he believes in it and – most importantly – he will abide by it to ensure we are once again dedicated to its opening words, ‘We the People.’”
    Sen. Folmer’s official bio follows.

Mike is a founding member of the Constitutional Organization of Liberty, a community-wide educational project designed to promote awareness of America’s founding principles.

In 1986, Mike pulled an upset victory to Lebanon City Council campaigning as a conservative Democrat (he would later follow Ronald Reagan’s example by re-registering as a Republican). As the Council’s Director of Public Safety, Mike fought local labor unions on excessive contract demands and introduced a plan to trim hundreds of thousands of dollars from the cash strapped community’s annual budget. Mike honored a term-limits pledge, retiring after just one term in office.

Two decades later, running on a “Promise to Pennsylvania,” a pledge to advance government reform, tort reform, the elimination of wasteful state spending, and lower taxes, Mike pulled another upset victory to win a seat in the Pennsylvania State Senate. He was reelected to a second term in 2010.

In his first term, Senator Folmer had five bills signed into law. He currently serves as Chairman of the Communications and Technology Committee and Vice Chair of the Education Committee. Other committee assignments include Inter-Governmental Operations; Labor and Industry; State Government; and Urban Affairs and Housing.

Mike and his wife, Shelia, reside in Lebanon City and are members of the Church of the Servant Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Palmyra where he teaches a children’s Sunday school. The Folmers have two grown children and seven grandchildren.

Details of the Philadelphia rally at which Sen. Folmer will introduce Ron Paul and affirm his Paul endorsement are as follows. Time is Eastern.

    Sunday, April 22, 2012
    2:30 p.m.*
    Ron Paul Major Campaign Rally
Lawn at the Independence Mall Visitors Center
1 N Independence Mall West (b/t Market and Arch Streets)
    Philadelphia, PA 19106

[*The rally start time is 1:00 p.m. and Dr. Paul will speak at 2:30 p.m.]
For a map of the location, click here. To RSVP for the event, click here.

Providing a strong boost to Ron Paul’s Pennsylvania State organization, such endorsements present Ron Paul as the last remaining conservative alternative to Mitt Romney. They also demonstrate that the 12-term Congressman from Texas has a campaign organization capable of maintaining a 50-state competition with the moderate-establishment Romney.

Ron Paul Joins Pro-life Advocates in Letter Against Forced HHS Mandate

Forced HHS mandate requires all plans to cover contraceptives – including morning after pill

LAKE JACKSON, Texas – 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul has co-signed a letter directed at Secretary Sebelius of the Health and Human Services Department (HHS). The letter calls into question the mandate requiring all insurance plans to cover sterilization and contraception – including morning after pills.

Pro-life groups and religious entities affected by the mandate have publicly expressed concern that this mandate falls short of meeting religious freedom rights. The mandate requires that plans purchased by the religious employer include the items to which the employer objects. The letter below calls for a repeal of the mandate.

    “Dear Secretary Sebelius,

We are writing again to express our opposition to guidelines first issued by the Department of Health and Human Services on August 3, 2011, which remain effective. We maintain that this mandate constitutes an unprecedented effort by the federal government to dictate the terms of private health insurance coverage and infringes upon individual liberty and conscience rights.

Insurers, plan sponsors, and any as yet undefined third parties referenced in the March 16, 2012 Advanced Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, should remain free from government coercion when deciding whether or not to offer, purchase, or fund particular types of health insurance coverage. Moreover, we fully support faith-based universities and health care providers in their struggle to retain their inalienable right to avoid complicity in facilitating the violation of their core values.

We maintain that this mandate, which contradicts longstanding federal precedent and a historic bipartisan consensus on the rights of conscience in health care, will force many employers – particularly religious institutions – to choose between their convictions and livelihood, to either violate their deeply held beliefs, drop health care coverage, or cease providing health care services to the general public, disproportionately affecting vulnerable populations. We therefore respectfully request that the Department take these concerns into consideration and rescind the mandate.”

Ron Paul One of Time’s “Most Influential”

Ron Paul is one of the most conservative candidates to ever run for president, who at the same time, like Ronald Reagan, is able to attract support from independents and even some liberals fed up with the Democrats. Certainly one of those liberals, Timemagazine chose consumer advocate Ralph Nader to pay tribute to Paul as one of its “100 Most Influential People in the World.” Writes Nader:

Why does Congressman Ron Paul draw such large and enthusiastic audiences?..

Paul does not censor himself. He comes across as sincere, earnest and independent of his party’s fat cats. In the debates, only he called out the American Empire’s meddling in the business of countless nations around the world…

Paul, 76, draws a distinction between libertarian conservatives and those corporatist conservatives entrenching a corporate state in which Big Business merges with Big Government. That’s why he is against bailouts. His defense of privacy and civil liberties and his opposition to the war on drugs endear him to people beyond his libertarian base. They even include some progressives who cannot abide his views against health, safety and economic regulations or his denunciation of the Federal Reserve’s fiat money and social-welfare programs like Medicare.
