Albany Times Union: They traveled to Ithaca to hear Ron Paul

Posted on April 20, 2012 at 12:01 pm by Casey Seiler, Capitol bureau chief in 2012 Presidential Election, 2012 Republican Primary, General

I just got off the phone with a very ticked-off Ron Paul supporter who couldn’t believe that the TU hadn’t devoted any space to Rep. Ron Paul’s rally Thursday in Ithaca — especially when we had gone to the trouble of running a three-inch AP brief on Newt Gingrich’s appearance at last night’s state GOP dinner in New York.

In truth, Jimmy was careful to file a photo assignment for the departure of the local Paul supporters’ bus, and photographer Michael Farrell filed four images — but the photos were ultimately held from Friday’s print paper due to space.

Paul supporters, of course, are in many ways defined by their belief that their man gets short shrift from mainstream Republicans and the mainstream media. And if your candidate was at the bottom of the delegate count, you might feel aggrieved in the same way.

So here, with our apologies, is the complete gallery of photos from the Paulistas’ departure.

Ron Paul : GOP front runner!

Submitted by Zef on Sat, 04/21/2012 - 03:55

You read that title right folks. Despite the government controlled television's proclamations that Mitt Romney is the presumptive nominee, let there be no doubt as to who the front runner is. While Mitt Romney struggles to reach crowds of 500, Ron Paul rallies range from 2000 to as high as 8000 attendees. On April 19th, Paul drew a gathering of roughly 4,400 at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.

The very next day, Paul drew a capacity crowd of 2300 at Soldier's and Sailor's Hall at the University of Pittsburgh. The crowd was down right rowdy. Congressman Paul received four standing ovations from the crowd, and as we moved outside after Dr. Paul's speech, cannon shots were fired from the deck of the USS Constitution as people gathered around and cried,"Revolution!"

There was no sign of Pittsburgh's three major news stations, KDKA, WTAE, and WPXI at the rally. The continued insistence on ignoring Ron Paul by these media outlets has been causing severe damage to their reputations among Paul supporters, and even many on the side line are beginning to question the agenda of the local news outlets. "What are they afraid of?" asked a resident from Cannonsburg.

One headline on KDKA's website was an exclusive interview with governor Corbett about which hockey team he prefers, but there is no mention of Ron Paul anywhere on their home page.

To add more fuel to the fires of the revolution, news is coming out of Alaska, Wyoming, and Nevada that GOP establishment attempts at blocking the Ron Paul delegates from making their way to the Tampa convention have failed. Combined with a growing perception that it is Paul that is more likely to defeat Obama in November than Romney, more and more voters are turning to Ron Paul for the answers.

With the Pennsylvania primary just days away, eyes turn to Philadelphia and the rally at Independence Mall. Will Paul's message finally be heard over the television? How profound will it be while standing on the hallowed grounds of the Founders? With Rick Santorum's departure from the race, and the trend of Ron Paul's support being doubled from the 2008 race, it is entirely possible that Ron Paul could score his first primary victory in the Keystone State, and that could spell then end of Mitt Romney's campaign and the Revolution beginning in the state where the Declaration of Independence was signed. Talk about coming full circle!

Today: IOWA Republican Party District Conventions

    Submitted by k.templar on Sat, 04/21/2012 - 04:28

"Republican Party District Conventions convene in each congressional district. As the delegates to the Iowa State Republican Convention have already been chosen, the sole business- insofar as the presidential campaign is concerned- of the District Convention is that of instructing the delegates to the Iowa State Republican Convention from the counties making up said congressional district as to the presidential contender most preferred by the delegates in attendance at the District Convention." (Iowa Republican Delegation 2012)

So, what is the deal? Today all the delegates are instructed to vote for Paul ? Any news that can be shared on a public forum of what will or could be going on today?

☛ Everybody ready in MISSOURI for the Missouri Congressional District Convention TODAY? April 21st 2012

Submitted by sovereignjanice on Fri, 04/20/2012 - 05:33

Just in case you or anyone you know in Missouri; The Missouri Congressional District Convention Tomorrow!

    -------------------------------
Saturday 21 April 2012: 24 of 52 delegates to the National Convention are elected and bound to Presidential contenders in today's Congressional District Conventions.

Delegates, elected at the County Conventions, meet in each of the state's 8 Congressional Districts. Each District elects 3 National Convention District delegates.

Before voting begins, the National Convention Delegate candidates indicate their Presidential Preference. The Convention participants then cast ballots for the individual candidates.

There is no formal system applied in the District Convention to relate the presidential preference of the District Convention delegates to the choice of the district's delegates to the National Republican Convention. The delegates in attendance at each District Convention alone determine if presidential preference is to be a factor and, if so, how it is to be applied.

Videos: Ron Paul on The Quinn & Rose Show, 4-20

Ron Paul finally was interviewed on the Quinn and Rose show, incidentally just a few minutes after a caller called him a crackpot...

Newt was scheduled to also call but must have forgotten, anyway I uploaded the entire hour containing the interview along with insults and other propaganda at this link:

I have personally never heard the show before so I uploaded the first longer video for others like me to put the interview within context.

PPP poll: Paul ties Romney against Obama, leads Mitt among Independents and scores best among the 30-45 age group

    Ron Paul 2012

Ron Paul ties up with Romney in PPP General Election match ups with the President and leads Romney by 7 points among Independents. Big surprises in age groups.
    PPP(D) 4/19 General Election GOP-3 vs. Obama:

    Obama 47...Ron Paul...44.....Obama +3
    Obama 49...Romney.....46.....Obama +3
    Obama 51...Gingrich....42.....Obama +9

Ron Paul pulls Obama down to 47 points, while with Romney, Obama is closer to 50. Both Romney and Paul beat Obama among white voters (by 14 and 11 points respectively) while loosing hugely among Hispanics and African Americans.

As usual, among Independent voters Ron Paul leads Romney - by 7 points, and trails Obama only by 1 point. In many previous polls Paul beat Obama in this pivotal group of voters. Independents are not Romney's strong point.

Age group choices bring a big surprise. Obama leads Paul by 5 points among the youngest voters 18-29, and by 8 points among baby boomers ages 46-65. Paul leads Obama among the mature adults of ages 30-45 and ties Obama among the oldest group 65+. This is not what we usually hear from the media and possibly this PPP poll represents a newer interesting trend among voters.

Romney looses to Obama in all age groups, except the oldest voters 65+, where he leads the president (and Paul) by 10 points!

    Delegate count: Actual statistical analysis

Submitted by davidstarlingm on Fri, 04/13/2012 - 19:09
    Delegates

I put together a comprehensive statistical analysis of all the remaining delegates following the Santorum dropout. The results?

At the first vote of the RNC, Romney has 978 delegates, Gingrich has 230, Santorum has 270, and Paul has 657. The second vote is anyone's guess.

These figures are based on current polling statistics and a few reasonable assumptions about loss of interest among Romney supporters and protest voting by erstwhile Santorum supporters.

    CORRECTED:
