Thread: Absolut Vodka's advertisement in Mexico

We should all just vow to never drink Absolut again and share with others why we refuse to purchase it...there are many vodka alternatives out there in the same price point range, and I, for one, will never buy Absolut again!

I've only seen it on Fox News on their front page online, but usually if they have it there it will be on the TV even if it is tucked in somewhere.

I think the other quote was what Michelle Malkin thought would be the "Absolut Perfect World" It was her vision. Let's see. I think they are so arrogant that it will take a really big fire storm for them to do that. They could let the marketing firm they may have contracted with go.

A permanent boycott is called for, nothing less. There are many other brands of Vodka to choose from that are just as good. Don't p.o. American consumers like that...especially attacking our nation and making a joke out of an issue that is very volatile right now. Shame on this company. They need to get themselves out of the gutter...what next? An ad making light of 9/11?

I heard a comedian that goes to soccer games when he can even in foreign countries. He said when the American team came on to the field in Mexico they stands starting chanting, Osama Bin Laden. He said it really surprised him. It was chilling. Ya right good neighbors.

During the weekend we have received several comments on the ad published in Mexico. We acknowledge the reactions and debate and want to apologize for the concerns this ad caused. We are truly sorry and understand that the ad has offended several persons. This was not our intention. The ad has been withdrawn as of Friday April 4th and will not be used in the future.

In no way was the ad meant to offend or disparage, or advocate an altering of borders, lend support to any anti-American sentiment, or to reflect immigration issues.

To ensure that we avoid future similar mistakes, we are adjusting our internal advertising approval process for ads that are developed in local markets.

I agree. The apology is worthless. There had to be some serious thought that went into purchasing that bit of advertisement. They knew damn well it would feed off current international affairs and used this controversy to try to sell their product.

What is good for us, is that there is a $8.34 billion sitting on the table and it the French company that is making the offer get spooked into thinking there will be a US Boycott of the product he is going to send all that money on, he may take the deal off the table.

I say Absolut should be boycotted too! 48% of the world's Absolut vodka sales is made to the USA and this bunch of ingrates has show us what they think of our money. So let them do without 48% of their sales and hope Mexico can quit drinking mescal long enough to make up the difference.

Judging by Paula Eriksson, VP Corporate Communications, V&S Absolut Spirits latest apology, the company has escalated to 'crisis' management.

They may have passed possible boycott to possible bankrupcy.

I am sure the Absolut Co received more than "several" comments on the ad. I have a feeling they got bombarded because it is all over the internet. AMERICA WOKE UP AGAIN! YEAH!

What did it mean then? IMO, this is nothing but another very weak apology.

IMO, the damage is done. I personally WILL NEVER purchase anything from that company again.

Intent? The mere fact that this racist broadcast even came about talks volumes of the type of company Absolut is. They thought they could find a balkanzing method to pander to ethnic nationalist socialists at our expense. What kind of people work there? Can you imagine the smirks and glee they felt from putting this ad out there? You know as well as I do that they were fully aware of the impact this would have. This mentality, hurt others regardless of the consequences is the theme of Absolut. They will do anything they feel they need to to, even if it is to make racist, hateful statements, pander to facist groups or instigate more violence and subversion amoungst our nearly 20 million illegal aliens and facists. In my opinion every time an illegal commits a crime in the United States Absolut is part of it.

The reasoning is found by simply looking at it thru the eyes of the racist reconquista. From their point of view, they live eat and sleep anti-American rhetoric, anti-European hate and the vision of a mythical homeland land filled with their ehtnic naitonalist socialist kindred. What they see from this is Validation! In their eyes a large multi national conglomerate has just validated their claims. This company has heard their facist cries and lended its support to their assertions by making this ad. No person in Absolut can be let to get away with this with a simple drive by apology. They have chosen to listen to the bravado of an extremist group and lend it credibility. Absolut has stated by running this ad that they support the vision of Aztlan. The reconquistas see this ad as a validation. The damage that Absolut has caused will continue to be felt by peace loving and liberty minded folk for some time. This ad has done nothing but fuel their desire, they now think the world is listening to them. Absolut is the trumpet by which the hordes of racist nationalist Mexicans will march. I will boycott them and if I can get by with it I will smash any bottle of absolut I see. Believe me if I knew of a ship filled with Absolut preparing to dock at an American port I would sink it with no reservations. Let's us make their decision to be the poster boy for a movement of hate, their choice to be the rallying cry for a wave of facism, stick so far into their greedy corpses that they experience an atrophy from which they will never recover. I will engage in a boycott that will not only include avoiding their product, but destroying it when I find it and mentioning as many negatives about Absolut as I can to others. I will ostercize others who drink Absolut and make it unfashionable, it will become a Humvee at an Al Gore "earth" rally. **** Absolut.
