I remember in a merchandising class that their was a rule about advertising.
As long as people were talking about an ad, good or bad, it wouldn't go away.
We where discussing an ad that was really annoying. Sort of like the HeadOn commercials running now.
This reconquest ad may take it to far. I wonder if the new owner of Absolut really needs this.
Still people are talking.

It is PROOF of what WE have known for quite some time now. I almost wish they would put it on a few mid-western billboards. The people in Indiana think I exaggerate about how far gone California is. So, what do you think would happen if Coors ran an ad with a completely opposite map?? The fur would fly and we all know it. There'd probably be lawsuits.

Have your son spread the word gogo! I read this letter on Michelle Malkin. Maybe a lot of the dining/bar industry will take hold of this if we can spread word enough.
I found the ad insulting. I find their explanation flimsy and it just doesn't ring true...
Absolut -
I run a bar in Pt. Richmond, California - where the Kaiser Liberty Ships were built during WWII. After seeing your ad Campaign where you show a western map of the United States in which California is part of Mexico again, I’ve decided to do the following…
1) Never carry Absolut. Ever.
2) Lower the price of Ketel One vodka to $2 a shot indefinitely to build loyalty.
3) Print a copy of your ad and put it above the Ketel One drink special.
4) Tell all my friends and family what Absolut thinks of the United States of America and our right to enforce border laws.
I am on the front line of illegal immigration and its effects. Where are you? Oh yes, Sweden.
Good riddance.
Sincerely,
Matthew Rogers

I didn't have time to read everyone's response, so it might be a replica.
I don't think that this was an apology at all. How can you appease one group by giving them a so called "reminsce of fonder times in history" and slap the other group in the face by declaring them a loser of a war?
If they are going to depict history in advertising, then this isn't what happened.
I would like to see a nationwide boycott of Absolut. This response infuriates more than the ad itself.
The only business that has apologized appropriately (in my opinion) was Macy's over those Brown is the new White t-shirts.

Also, I meant to add that I've read a lot of blogs on other sites recently, and several people feel that this ad is an Act of War.
