I wish I would get robbed like that

We forgave 3.5 million dollars in debt owed to the US by Mexico, plus gave them an additional 15 million PLUS let any Mexican citizens who owned land, keep the title to that land if they wanted to, and any Mexican citizen living on the land, owner or not, got automatic citizenship. But they had to be living on the land for at the time of the sale.

Someone--Lou Dobbs?--said in Mexico it is taught in their schools that the United States stole the land from Mexico.

Not long ago, I read on here some group gave cases of Spanish school books to some school district--believe it was in Illinois. WERE THEY MEXICAN HISTORY BOOKS? If so--they need to be removed from United States classrooms.

Actually the land did not belong to Mexico, most of it belonged to American Indians who controlled 95% of it at the time. Mexico simply stamped their name on a map of the area. Actually the Indians reclaimed control of some areas when the Spanish left because no Mexican troops moved in. Mexico ended up inviting Americans to move in to help control the Indians.

Mexico gained its independence from Spain in 1821. In 1824 Mexico became a republic composed of 19 states. The distant province of California, however, remained a territory.

Monterey was the capital of Alta California. July 7, 1846 the American flag was raised. Walter Colton was the first mayor of Monterey and he wrote during his first week that "Almost every nation has, in some emigrant, a representative here - a representative of its peculiar habits, virtues, and vices. Here is the reckless Californian, the half-wild Indian, the roving trapper of the West, the lawless Mexican, the licentious Spaniard, the scolding Englishman, the absconding Frenchman, the luckless Irishman, the plodding German, the adventurous Russian, and the discontented Morman. All have come here with the expectation of finding but little work and less law.

It doesn't seem like a territory full of Mexicans; sounds pretty diverse even then.

The Swedish beverage giant, which was bought last week by the French group Pernod Ricard, has even been charged with encouraging Mexicans to enter the US without proper papers.
So, let's see, if we advertised in, say Germany, an ad for a product, that we applied our own tongue in cheek-ness to towards the once Nazi regimes hold on France and also in the ad, be sure to mention this little historical tidbit about Swedens "so-called" neutrality in WWII: During the invasion of Scandinavia, Sweden kept neutral, but because much of their income was generated by exporting iron, they continued to sell it to Nazi Germany (Wiki Answers), and we make sure we show the Swedes kissing Hitlers fanny to stave off Nazi control (in an appropriate manner to place the product), and how if we had not saved France, they would be speaking German instead????

Let's remind them, that if it was not for Americans, the ones they have succesfully insulted in order to make a buck in Mexico (as if it is so hard to sell alcohol there!), that they are in the "Absolut" wrong place right now.

It would be better since Absolut is now owned by a French company to just show Germany circa 1941 (when France was part of Germany) and in German say "In an Absolut World". How do you think they would like that?
