    Chicano-

I don't understand why America has to deal with Mexicos problems or people. They wouldn't help us if the shoe was on the other foot would they?

One of the main problems is that it appears that the illegals here DON"T want to assimilate. You can say all day long they want to be citizens, but we all have documented stories and personal experiences that say something different.

Great comments in response to Chicano's posts. But I think what people have to keep in mind is that at the root of all this is the Globalist agenda. The people who will suffer the most are the innocent American poor/ working class families, as well as poor Mexican immigrants .

They are pitting us against one another other. I have no doubt that this is an intentional tactic to distract us from the real enemy of the people - The Globalists. We have a common enemy here. If only the Mexican citizens would rise up and fight for their rights in their own country, maybe we could form a united front against these Globalists so that we each can have the kind of government (in our respective countries) that we so rightly deserve.

It would be wonderful if NOBODY had to live this way. I doubt very seriously these children will ever have $1000-$3000 or whatever the going rate border crossers pay smugglers.

Proximity to the border should in no way put Mexicans in front of these people.

Breaking the law by sneaking across the border should in no way put Mexicans in front of these people.

Anybody who cuts in line should be put at the BACK OF THE LINE IN THEIR HOME COUNTRY.

...all Americans know that illegal immigrants cost social services, and all Americans want the border secured. Nobody is arguing with that.
Not all Americans know this. Some, in fact, believe that illegal immigrants invest more money into the economy than they receive back in social services. So, yes, people are still arguing this issue.

...you all cannot tell me that the view of the vast majority of members in this website represents the views of all nor most Americans.
Most Americans want secure borders, regulated immigration, and equal opportunities for all working citizens. As far as deportation goes, there are many opinions.

Everytime I see an illegal immigrant being described on this website, they are narcotic, felons, rapists, and most rediculously to me, they are one and the same with terrorists. Not one time have I read them to be hard working people who are just looking for a better life.
Whether or not someone is hard-working and looking for a better life is not really the case here. Millions of Americans are hard-working. Millions of Americans are looking for a better life. This is no excuse to disregard immigration policy, steal identities, drive without insurance, etc. If these illegals would return to their home countries migrate legally, and obey our laws, we would stop focusing on the criminal element they bring to the country.

But you cannot see the issue of illegal immigration as black or white. You cannot see it as either "right" or "wrong."
Why not? Immigration policy and identity protection are important laws. We have these laws to protect us from serious danger. We cannot enforce some laws and ignore others. It's hypocrisy and removes value from these laws. You either break the law, or you don't. Black or white, right or wrong. Trying to add a gray area due to sympathy is a recipe for social chaos and lawlessness.

Some of the solutions of the illegal immigration crisis is being rationalized with the simple notion that "illegal means illegal." This little cliche is the reasoning that is used to deport people, separate families...
Nobody WANTS to separate families. It is the fault of the parents for compromising the solidity of their families by breaking laws. The same thing happens if Mommy and Daddy go on a killing spree. Mommy and Daddy go to prison, and the kids go to foster homes. We do not excuse the crimes of the parents on the basis that the family should not be separated.

...and even to create arguement that the kids of illegal immigrants do not belong here either. How can you say that?! Since when do kids have to pay the price because of the mistakes of their parents?
Since the beginning of time. If you believe the bible, we are all born with original sin because of Adam and Eve. Or if you look at the world with a rational mind. Children may be born with deformities because Mommy and Daddy are also Aunt and Uncle. Children may be born with AIDS because Mommy and/or Daddy used a dirty needle. Children may be raped and/or abused because Mommy's boyfriend is also a pedophile. The list goes on and on. Is it fair? No. Is it inevitable? Sometimes. Is it necessary? Sometimes.

...you must accept the truth that the majority of illegal immigrants are just looking for a better life, that the majority love this country, that the majority will do ANYTHING to have the priviledge of living and working in this country, that many illegal immigrants have kids that are serving their country in the armed forces, and, in my case, they are starting businesses and reconstructing neighborhoods in thier communities.
Again I say, MILLIONS of Americans are looking for a better life, but that fact does not justify lawlessness.

...give those people who have been living here so long the opportunity to EARN residency or citizenship.
They HAVE this opportunity. They can go back home and wait in line just like everyone else. Poor conditions in the homeland are no excuse to skip ahead in line or bypass it completely.

what is wrong with giving them a chance to pay the consequences, then earn their status without having to resort to mass deportations?
They want to cut ahead in line. They want to ignore the language of the land: English. They want to drive without insurance. They want to raise their flag above ours. They want to live in unhealthy and unfit conditions (e.g. 18 people in a 3 bedroom house). To sum it up, they want to live in our country but outside of our laws.

...if you actually went to Mexico and saw their poverty, you would understand why it is that people cross rivers, deserts, and leave their families and homeland.
Yes, you are right. I have been there; I have seen it; and I think it is terrible. I cannot blame a single person for wanting a life that is better than what Mexico has to offer. At the same time, I cannot allow this reasoning to justify criminal activity on a large scale (illegal immigration). Another community member mentioned that other countries have conditions even worse than Mexico's (e.g. soldiers with machine guns invading homes and shooting while family members were home). It is important to remember that it is not our responsibility to provide a better life for every single person in the world who lives some place where conditions are worse than ours. We have the "good life" because we created it. Instead of trying to mooch off of our self-created land of opportunity, the people of the world should work to create the same thing (or something even better) in their homelands. THAT is the best solution.

Amen, Had_enuf. That's something that bothers a lot of Americans.

Well, Kanye West says that George Bush doesn't care about black people. I that it's a load of crap. I'll say that George Bush doesn't care about anyone or anything that does not somehow affect his career.

Agreed badthingsman. All Bush cares about is his personal agenda. Too bad middle class US citizens don't happen to be a part of it.

Had_Enuf, those photos got me to thinking.... I never see underweight mexicans. They're all overweight or even obese. So I'm not really understanding their poverty verses some of the really poor people, like the ones in those pictures.
