I switched from Republican to Independent when Bush and McCain started pushing amnesty. I switched back when Ron Paul started getting some traction.

The Republican party is not what it used to be...it's the RINO party now. I decided, along with people like Lou Dobbs, that I wanted to be free of the party that is trying to destroy us. It was an anti-Bush...anti-Amnesty protest. I really agree with Michael Savage that we only have one party now...with TWO heads. I still get donation letters from the R's, and I just love putting my "check in the mail"...it says "No Amnesty...Enforce the Existing Laws".

    BTW, I'm supporting Romney!

Glad to hear it. I don't know how far Ron Paul will get, but he sure adds interest to the debates. I'm glad he's around for now. Then this race has to tighten up to just a couple contenders so we can narrow the focus.
Oh yeah, this thread is about California. Okay, I have another question for you knowitalls. How come CA has MediCal and not just Medicare like all the other states???

CA has Medicaid...which is for low income persons and children of legal immigrants (supposedly); and Medicare is for everyone over 65.

So you are saying MediCal and Medicaid are the same thing? Then there is Medicare...... which I think is tied to SS and Federal.

There is no Medical in CA...it's Medicaid (for the low income). Medicare is for everyone over 65...both are goverment subsidies. Medicaid is State sponsored, and you're right about Medicare being part of SS.

Yes it is the same thing. Our socialists just couldn't resist putting the "Cal" on there. Check it out here: http://www.medi-cal.ca.gov/

Medi-Cal is California's Medicaid program. This is a public health insurance program which provides needed health care services for low-income individuals including families with children, seniors, persons with disabilities, foster care, pregnant women, and low income people with specific diseases such as tuberculosis, breast cancer or HIV/AIDS. Medi-Cal is financed equally by the State and federal government.

However, there are differences. Mostly red tape. I knew a lady who lost her insurance when she lost her job because she had advanced cancer. Medi-Cal picked up her tab. (She was actually full blooded, 4 or 5 generation American).

When she was no longer able to take care of herself, she moved in with her sister in Texas. All medical treatment stopped while she had to re-apply for Medicaid. While waiting the 9 months for approval she passed away.
