Don't quite understand the whole thing, but if it is good for us, then great!

Can you see if Kennedy voted yes? I am assuming he did.

Hi there the_Patriot: I believe he did.

This amendment was pretty minor and inconsequential in the larger scope of things. To me, at least, it would be considered a 'no brainer'.

Those voting for will undoubtedly take some heat from large corps., but most people seem to be just fine with small fee increases - most of which don't affect the voters themselves.
But this is good for thing for us? I need to catch up to speed quickly.

There were 2 votes on Amendments so far that ended in narrow defeats at 48-49. I'll have to go back through my notes to find which amendments those were on.

What I'm getting at here, is the fact that this Amendment increased the fine. Also the fact that it was done by 59 votes Yeah. But we will see. We got 2 more days this week, with all of another to hit this thing.

It was on Hume on Fox. It was caught by reporters because they asked Kennedy on camera what he said to Akaka and he made a smiley face and said something like ,how are you today?

PhE, If I remember correctly it was the Sunset provision to revisit the guest worker issue after 5 years and the Sen from Minn who wanted Cops to be able to ask immigration questions regardless of city sanctuary policys...it was the Repubs who killed us today guys. One different vote and we would have had better provisions.

So basically, what I saw today was this,
anything FOR the American worker went down in flames with the exception of Sanders bill which didn't really impress me. It is like crumbs...like getting mugged and the muggers gives you a quarter to call for a cab...
and all the stuff that is harmful to Americans went through...

Are we mad enough yet? I don't think so.

It's not over. And, everyone hates something about this, which alone may be enough to kill CIR. One fascinating thing about this is the linkage between amnesty and the guestworker visa issue. Hatred of one slows up the other, it seems.

Yeah, it only got the 59 votes because Kennedy told Sanders the "Pact" (originators of the amnesty bill) wouldn't support his original request of $10,000. So, in order to save the bill the fine was dropped from $10,000 to $5,000. I seriously doubt it would have got voted in if Sanders wouldn't have came down on the fine amount. Kennedy and Specter are twisting arms all the way on this amnesty bill.
