Free & Reduced lunch for Non-U.S. Citizens!

Well, it's back to school for all of our young future leaders here in the US. And that scares the heck out of me.

So in all the hub-bub after the first day of school, parents are deluged with form after form (after form), but one struck my wife and I like a 2x4 upside the head.

Upon looking over the form to apply for free or reduced lunch, close to the bottom on the back, was a sentence stating that you DO NOT HAVE TO BE A US CITIZEN TO APPLY FOR FREE OR REDUCED LUNCH!

    WHAT!!!????

Is this not madness? I have to pay full price, because I make a little too much to apply even for the reduced lunch, yet you and I get to fund all the illegals, oh excuse me, UNDOCUMENTED WORKER'S children. This is just something else that we have to get rid of. I say FREE and REDUCED lunch for US Citizens, and make all the illegals, darn, excuse me again, UNDOCUMENTED WORKER'S children and their parents pay FULL PRICE!

    And another thing!!

I was walking in the hallway behind my kid's teacher aide, who happens to drive a bus, and she was stating that a little boy on the bus was crying his eyes out and he couldn't speak a word of English. All she knew was the boy's name. I'm also assuming that he couldn't tell her where he needed to be dropped off from the bus.

Can someone tell me why kids like this need to be in our school? I may sound a little harsh here, but take the boy, his parents and the rest of his family to the nearest DHS/ICE Deportation area for the first trip back to their country of origin, because I'm tired of my kids getting shafted on a daily basis with this kind of bunk.

Believe me, I feel sorry for the kids that can't speak English, because they aren't big enough to explain themselves and would be scared to death. Plus they sure weren't old enough to tell their parents what they did when they entered the country was illegal.

I'm just tired of paying for them, as I'm sure many on this forum and country are....

I hear your frustration. My daughter's old school was 43% "hispanic" and the majority. This all took place in less then five years. You have be to bi-lingual in order to teach there. I thought we lived in America where English is spoken We were without health insurance for a year and the flop houses on both side of me stuffed with illegals and day workers had state aid and could see the doctor at tax payers expense. I know because I ran into some at the family practice we saw and they had cards and no co-pay Many people are fed up and it is time to voice our opinions until the congress and senate hear us!

America is becoming a socialist nation through it's complete abortion of an immigration policy. Even the "legal" immigrants get too much free stuff off of the American taxpayer.

I believe the government is giving away too much in these type of programs. The federal government spent 7.1 Billion on the free and reduced lunches in FY 2003. I can see some time limited assistance in extreme situations but no more than that. If you are going to have children you have to be financially responsible enough to clothe and feed them also.

A lot of these people are the ones you see at the grocery stores paying for their food with Food Stamps and then pull out a wad of cash like my wallet hasn't seen for years to pay for their beer and cigarettes.

The bottom line though is illegal aliens should not be able to participate in these programs.

Oh come on John, this gov't only takes 40% of our incomes. There's still 60% left for them to come and take so we can pay for more illegals

Aren't many of the schools now giving free breakfasts and lunches? I have heard they were doing it in California but was curious if it was being done in other states.

    I hear ya!
A friend of mine raised hell at her son's school the other day. Apparently, she pays for his meals weekly. He had gone over his budget for the week on Friday. When he went through the line with his hotdog and milk, he was told he didn't have enough money to cover it. The food was taken away from him. That poor child went all day with no food. When he came home starving, his mother was livid! She called the school and raised hell. She said it had better not ever happen again. She said, "You give free food to all those illegals that I have paid for. Don't you ever with-hold food from my son!"

Is there some sort of bill that we could get our politicians (who I might remind you hold TEMP jobs) to come up with and pass that would require these kids and their parents show proof of citizenship before being enrolled in public school? If it goes against our constitution maybe we could eventually get an amendment passed that would allow for it? How does someone start a movement like that? Even though I don't have kids, my taxes still go to the school system, right? I'm still paying for the illegals, right?

Well, my wife was also having a discussion about this with her mother, who's a teacher in an elementary school. She stated that the more free and reduced lunches they sign up, the school system gets more federal money. The fellow who is head of that school system said they wanted to get more signing up for the free and reduced lunches, so the school system could get more money.

No wonder I'm paying $1.50 a day for my child to eat! There are idiots like this still sucking off the gov't teet.
