No one can appreciate the financial burden of out of state tuition unless one has family members who are students who have to pay out of state tuition. This family does and the state is Texas and specifically Texas A & M. Texas is one of nine states who waive out of state tuition fees for illegals. In addition to waiving tuition fees, Texas actually give illegals financial aid! Arizona, Oklahoma, Georgia and South Carolina have passed laws to stop the practice. According to recent published tuition costs,, in state college tuition in Texas is $5,200, out of state tuition is $19,600.

Second afternoon this week spent calling Senators. Called those I couldn't reach Monday and/or some who's aides gave the ol' "hasn't released a statement yet" line on Mon. Some from Populist's list above. With some, got a busy signal repeatedly, when I did, I called local offices. In all cases, I told them I wanted them to vote against Dream and against cloture, and reminded them that the majority of their legal voting constituents are against amnesty, mentioned their upcoming 2012 election.

Got "hasn't released a statement yet" with these:

Snowe: aide said sometimes she doesn't decide on vote until right before she votes, because things change so frequently.

McCaskill: aide said she has voted against amnesty bills in the past. Aides are tallying calls. Suggested to aide many of those FOR Dream are likely people who aren't even in the country legally. She said possibly, but since they don't know, they have to tally all calls the same.

I told aide I was surprised Corker would not be sure he is going to vote against amnesty, being a Republican from a conservative southern state, where the majority of legal citizens are against any amnesty. Aide then said Corker has always voted against amnesty in the past.

I got so tired of the "hasn't released a statement yet" line, that I tried a little test. Called Sen Lieberman's office to see what his aide would say, since I know Lieberman will vote FOR it since he is a co-sponsor. When I asked how Lieberman would vote, his aide said "Well, he's a co-sponsor of the bill". I told the aide he passed my test, since he didn't say "he hasn't released a statement yet". So maybe, hopefully, some of the "hasn't released a statement yet" really haven't decided yet, and can still be convinced to vote against.

Reid does not have the votes for cloture,that Is why he Is stalling and handing the baton to Pelosi In the House. They are modifying and massaging the bill In the Senate to to get the votes that they need. Even If the House passes a bill,It still would have to pass In the Senate,then be reconciled.
