Do you guys remember collecting those dead

They would be on the bushes in the morning...just their shell.

Absolutely and would sometimes travel miles from home. All was fine as long as you were home by dark or spending the night with a friend who most likely had a mom that knew your mom but even if they didn't would ALWAYS call and check things out and many times end up talking for quite awhile on the phone.
staying out all day playing with your friends, only checking in at lunch time because the whole neighborhood kept an eye on the kids[b]Civilizations die from suicide, not by murder.

And everything seemed to taste better back then, too. This was back before "making things better through chemistry" became the mantra of the food industry.
And somehow, even though we didn't have diet soda, low fat ice cream, and sugar free foods, most people weren't fat, even though we ate a diet that would give a modern day nutritionist a stroke. It's like hell vomited and the Bush administration appeared.

Growing up in Southern California during the 60's
The Phone had a dial
The TV was black and white and when we got our first remote it had a cord.
The airliners had propellers, and at Los Angeles Airport you could go out the unlocked door at the satalite and walk around the Airplanes.
There was no microwave or VCR
The car had a column stick shift
Or the Rambler had buttons to shift
We walked to school and ran wild through the streets even at the age of 5
I went to the same Elementary School for 9 years (K- eighth)
Soda came in glass bottles.
The bakery truck (Helms) made the morning rounds in the neighborhood, just like the Ice Cream truck.
Captain kangaroo, Engineer bill, Felix the cat, and Supercar were the cartoons.
We only had 7 channels for TV at that was for Los Angeles.
Everyone in Public School from K-12 spoke English.
The population of the United States was only 150 Million.
There were oil derricks and dairy farms just south of Los Angeles Airport.
We used to hear Sonic booms.
Viet Nam went on for over 10 years.
The first two digits of your phone number were always expressed as Letters for a word. (Our phone number was Frontier 8-4367)
And we had a party line on the phone.
The Shell gas station was full service, and they always gave away steak knives, president's coins, and free roadmaps. And gas cost 24.9 cents a gallon.
The "Helmsman" would come by our house every morning around 8 am. Inside their cars and inside the back doors would be floor to ceiling wooden drawers which the Helmsman would pull out so you could select the cookies, donuts, brownies, and bread you might like to purchase. I cannot recall the price but five cents comes to mind for the glazed donuts... and we would always get a dozen... which would last about 10 minutes in our house! My favorite was the jelly donuts which were also glazed.
