Has anyone ever died from pot? I honestly don't know. I don't think so. I've never heard of it. Guess it's time to Google.

Nope, no recorded deaths from marijuana. None. Nada. Zero. Zip. Meanwhile over 100,000 people a year die in the United States from prescription medications, you know the ones the doctors gave you.

No, it's not legal for citizens to own fully automatic weapons or hand grenades. Of course you know that. Sure people have died from pot and those high on pot have caused the death of some folks, but you well know that wasn't my point. Nice twist, but it's not going to work.

Edible Marijuana Candies Kill 9 in Colorado, 12 at Coachella

Posted on April 19, 2014 Posted By: Haywood Bynum IIICategories: Science

Denver, Colorado and Coachella Valley, California – Marijuana candies, sold on the street as ‘Uncle Tweety’s Chewy Flipper’ and ‘Gummy Satans’ are taking the country by storm. Each candy is an emulsification of sweetened Jello, vodka and minced marijuana. Huffington Post reports that within a week, 9 college students have died from these marijuana candies.

New reports from Coachella confirm one young man has died after eating a handful of these dangerous homebrewed gummies.

Marijuana advocates love to argue that pot is not dangerous. But breaking down the report from Huffington Postright now reveals the tragic truth: marijuana is dangerous, especially in candy form.

Let’s take a closer look at the train-wreck caused by this new type of marijuana.

A college student eats more than the recommended dose of a marijuana-
laced cookie and jumps to his death from a hotel balcony. A husband with no history of violence is accused of shooting his wife in the head, possibly after eating pot-infused candy.

The two recent deaths have stoked concerns about Colorado’s recreational marijuana industry and the effects of the drug, especially since cookies, candy and other pot edibles can be exponentially more potent than a joint.

“We’re seeing hallucinations, they become sick to their stomachs, they throw up, they become dizzy and very anxious,” said Al Bronstein, medical director of the Rocky Mountain Poison and Drug Center.

Immediately, we see marijuana in the bloodstream is causing life and death situations to take place. If pot was still illegal, perhaps neither of the prior stories would have developed.

It is sad that in a country as developed as America, such third world drugs such as marijuana are allowed to exist.

Twenty-six people have reported poisonings from marijuana edibles this year, when the center started tracking such exposures. Six were children who swallowed innocent-looking edibles, most of which were in plain sight.

Children are being addicted to marijuana. I knew this day would come, when a liberal president allowed a state to legally sell Marijuana Flintstone Vitamins to children. What are the consequences? Let us turn to science.

Five of those kids were sent to emergency rooms, and two to hospitals for intensive care, Bronstein said. Children were nauseous and sleepy, and doctors worried about their respiratory systems shutting down.
Supporters of the pot law and some experts counter that alcohol causes far more problems among users, and the issues with pot can be largely addressed through better regulations.

The deaths occurred as Colorado lawmakers are scrambling to create safety regulations for the largely unmonitored marijuana snacks. On Thursday, the Legislature advanced a package of bills that would lower the amount of THC that could be permitted in a serving of food and require more extensive warning labels.

An autopsy report listed marijuana intoxication as a significant contributing factor in the death of 19-year-old Levy Thamba Pongi.
Authorities said Pongi, who traveled from Wyoming to Denver with friends to try and eat marijuana,In the moments before his death, he spoke erratically and threw things around his hotel room.

Toxicologists later found that the cookie Pongi ate contained THC — marijuana’s intoxicating chemical — as one high-quality joints.

Marijuana. It is one of the most dangerous drugs on Earth. We are only seeing the tip of the iceberg here, my friends.

For every one joint of marijuana, four teenagers become burdened with pregnancy. And for every bag of marijuana candy sold, it seems 16 violent crimes in the 16 to 45-year-old cohort break down.

Young men and men who eat these candies are being found to have lower testosterone levels and fits of primal aggression. They are suffering heart issues and COPD. I do not even want to scare you parents today on what is being found to happen in young women who smoke and eat marijuana. The stat about teen pregnancy is enough for you for one day.

Cars, knifes, dogs, rocks, arrows, peanuts, wasp, baseball bats, etc, etc., etc. kill people too. Should we make them all illegal. This much deeper than your simplistic response. We may agree on a lot of things, but this isn't one of them.

Do we agree that this is a State issue as commanded by the Tenth Amendment?

But I am against legalized weed.

I experienced first hand with family members & friends the destruction caused by pot smoking, pot growing and pot selling.

That is a separate issue from whether or not Congress is vested with a power to enter the states to prohibit the use, growth and sale of agricultural products.

Now we don't. Whether you agree or not, I think the Supremacy Clause wins out.

    "Supremacy Clause

Article VI, Section 2, of the U.S. Constitution is known as the Supremacy Clause because it provides that the "Constitution, and the Laws of the United States … shall be the supreme Law of the Land." It means that the federal government, in exercising any of the powers enumerated in the Constitution, must prevail over any conflicting or inconsistent state exercise of power."

Seems we're going in circles here.

There is no power enumerated in the Constitution that applies to pot.

I truly know little to nothing about marijuana, except that it does seem to have some medical usage. I know it is something people used to raise in their flower beds, according to my Grandmother, for medical use.

I don't think the federal government has the right, don't think the Constitution intended it, to simply say they didn't like a law some state has and therefore can nullify it.

My take on the whole marijuana thing is - we need to choose our battles. We can't fix everything immediately. If we try, we loose.

I understand a record number of people are dying from opium usage now that our 'liberation' of Afghanistan has made it safe for the people to grow poppies again.

We have a huge problem with prescription drugs in this country. It is being over prescribed and somehow obtained to be sold on the street.

How many American lives have been taken or destroyed by illegals - not only violence, but the diseases that are being brought into this country?

We have Americans being maimed and killed in our several wars that need to be stopped - now.

Our education system is ridiculous - and vouchers will not fix that. It will fix it for some - those who have connections or funds - to buy placement, but not for the country as a whole.

We have a segment of the people of this country who believe they have a right to harm others, impede their rights of movement, destroy property, actually harm others, call for the killing and maiming of others, because they are upset.

Again, let's get after the things that are truly destroying this country. When they are either fixed, or under control, then we can have a debate on marijuana.

At this point in time, we have so many problems, and our resources should be prioritized and I just don't see marijuana any where near the top of that list.

Yeah, there should be no federal resources expended on enforcing marijuana laws except at the borders against the foreign drug cartels and illegal aliens running the drugs for them. Leave the States and Citizens alone. If the federal government needed a Constitutional Amendment to ban liquor, then it sure as hell needed one to ban marijuana. This whole thing wasn't even about marijuana, it was about banning hemp to take it off the market to promote synthetic alternatives like nylon.

Selling and distributing alcohol or cigarettes without a license is a federal crime, policed by the ATF, the Department of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. Black market alcohol and tobacco exists and people are occasionally busted for it. Black market cigarettes rival illegal drug distribution in the Balkans.

Feds need to focus all hands on deck to enforce US immigration laws, let the people and the states decide for themselves about marijuana and remove marijuana from the Federal Controlled Substances List. Feds are free and encouraged to attack the foreign drug cartels at the borders and everywhere else in the US where they exist and operate but leave Americans alone.

GET SMART. FOCUS ON THE BIG STUFF. END ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION IN THE US ONCE AND FOR ALL.
