I don't want to have any debate on this issue because frankly after 20 years of fighting with loved ones on the issue..... my opinion is
carved in stone and I'm finished discussing it.

We just have to agree not to agree with one another on this issue.

Criminalizing drugs does nothing to protect families or communities from the hazards of recreational drug use. It doesn't work with alcohol or tobacco and it doesn't work with marijuana either.

Criminalizing distribution in the rest is all that is necessary. Users and low level, local distributors need a different approach.

Cocaine and heroine are imported into communities from outside our borders and our borders and the individuals and organizations who move it across our borders are the ones that need to be confronted.

Every year tobacco kills more Americans than did World War II — more than AIDS, cocaine, heroin, alcohol, vehicular accidents, homicide and suicide combined.

Don't really see your point here. Annually, in the hands of civilians, cars kill more people in the United States than fully automatic weapons. Does that mean we should make fully automatic weapons legal for a certain segment of our civilian population? Hmm, or maybe we should allow all adults with a clear criminal background check to own hand grenades? I understand what you're saying, just not sure it applies in this instance. There are things outside of death to consider here. Just saying.

When did fully automatic weapons and hand grenades become illegal??!!

The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. 2nd Amendment, US Constitution.

    Like what?

Has anyone ever died from pot? I honestly don't know. I don't think so. I've never heard of it. Guess it's time to Google.

Nope, no recorded deaths from marijuana. None. Nada. Zero. Zip. Meanwhile over 100,000 people a year die in the United States from prescription medications, you know the ones the doctors gave you.

    Cigarettes and alcohol KILL PEOPLE.

    Should we make them illegal?

And send people to jail for using them

and put people in prison for smuggling them or selling them?

Absolutely not!! We have every right as free Americans to drink and smoke ourselves to death. Just as pot smokers have every right to get high, chill out, giggle, and call out for munchies.

Everything we do to extremes is a problem, whether it's drinking too much, smoking too much, doing pot too much, driving too fast, texting too much while you're driving, partying too much, having sex too much, eating too much, working too much .... that's why there's an ole saying "everything in moderation". Most people do all these things or some or most of these things in moderation, perhaps extremes at times, but not all the time. It's okay. This is life. These are the differences between people. We are not all the same. Tolerance is learning how to say, "I'm okay, you're okay."

"Live and Let Live." Just because someone likes something you don't, doesn't mean you should want to involve the government to force them to like what you like or be punished. That's not freedom, that's something else.

I don't care if people drink themselves to death

as long as they don't kill innocent people while driving or doing other dumb things.

If people want to make pot illegal

they should also make other dangerous things illegal.

Sure, I don't think anyone argues with that. No one no matter what they eat or drink or smoke or inhale or ingest should hurt or kill anyone.

In fact, the vast majority of fatal auto accidents are caused by sober people.
