You are also wrong about California and its "6th economy in the world." That's an old statistic that has not been valid for at least a decade. California's world ranking is sinking faster than the Titanic. At a current (2005) GSP of $1.62 trillion, California has slipped to eighth largest economy after being fifth just over a decade ago.

Can I ask you for a source, or wil you blame me for being a troll, as you did with Bama when he asked for a source ?

As for Texas, it cannot go bankrupt because its constitution does not allow deficit spending nor does it allow surplus. Any surplus must be set aside in a "rainy day fund" to cover any future shortfall. Texas generally holds several billion dollars in the rainy day fund. That means that Texas will never be insolvent, unlike that socialist debtor state that you claim to live in. Oh, and as of 2005, Texas was 10th on the IMF list of world economies despite having a population of only 23.5 million compared with 36.5 million for California. In 2005, its economy grew by $100 billion to just under $1 trillion, meaning that it's moving up the list, not down.

And Texas is being invaded by illegal aliens over the last 10 years, and it's clear to me that some illegals may even contribute to Texas, while they take California down.

Note, however, that the IMF list has now aggregated all European economies into a single unit as the European Union, which easily has the world's largest economy. Because several of the European states would have larger economies than Texas or California, the rankings are artificially skewed. Germany, the UK and France all have lerger economies than California, ranging from about $1.9 trillion for France up to about $2.5 trillion for Germany. That means that California is really ninth or tenth at the moment and that Texas is about 12th. Note that the 2005 World Factbook compiled by the CIA lists California's economy as only 10th after the US, China, Japan, India, Germany, UK, France, Italy and Russia.

Thank you for your information. Still California is richer than Texas, and we're the most populous state and as a result the most popular too. Our beaches are more famous than the beaches in Tx.
LA & SF more famous than Houston & Dallas.
We have the highest mountain in the continental states ( Mount Whitney ), and the deepest Valley ( death Valley ). We have plenty of national parks:

Channel Islands National Park
Lassen Volcanic National Park
Redwood National Park
Sequoia/Kings Canyon National Park (artikel in Amerika dec96/jan 97)
Yosemite National Park
Death Valley National Park
Joshua Tree National Park

We only have an illegal immigration problem, still California is my state, the greatest state in the Union

Texas is the only state that operates its own independent power grid. Texas is home to NASA, Apple Computer, Dell, Texas Instruments and countless other high tech firms. The integrated circuit was invented in Texas.

But more importantly, a person can still afford to buy a house in Texas. Taxes don't eat you alive in Texas because there is a constitutional prohibition on a state income tax. As for "famous" beaches, all that equates to is overcrowded beaches. As for national and state parks, Texas is loaded with them. We have national forests, the vastness that is Big Bend, an entire barrier island chain of beautiful beaches. We have the hill country, the prairies, the Big Thicket, lakes, rivers, salt march, mountains, desert, and just about everything in between.

Better yet, our people make the difference. Rather than loads of effete globalist-leftist tofu-eaters, we have ranchers and pioneers. We have maverick businessmen and innovators in everything from tech to the arts.

You seem to forget that I have lived both places and had ample opportunity to invest in both places. That I am in Texas rather than in California says it all.

The fact is that babies born on US soil are classified as US citizens. We also own a house here in California, so not only houses in Texas are payable. We're the most populous state and this is a clear indication that people prefer to move to California instead of Texas, no wonder ! We have more celebrities and I'd prefer to live in Ca over TX any time. We also have lakes, and rivers. We have the highest mountain and the deepest Valley. We have hollywood, we're culturally more diverse and we're the most famous state in the Union to people abroad. We make the best wine, sun in the south, snow in the east, and rain in the North. One other thing, a cite is a cite once a claim is attributed. A quote from a senator that is part of the floor debate on a bill or Amendment is part of the Congressional record. If you don't understand that, then you don't need to be debating. Similarly, I provided the sources for the claims about California's economy (CIA Factbook and IMF Economic Rankings). You seem to be under the mistaken impression that a claim has not been substantiated unless someone holds your hand and takes you to a website somewhere.
