Rep. Capito signed the SAVE Act but has not signed the Discharge and is not in bold. What is the deal with her? She should be wanting to sign. Anyone from WV know the story.

Emailed the following to Rep. Capito's staffers, love the staffer's contact site, I have used it several time.

"Please ask Rep. Capito to sign the SAVE Act Discharge Petition! She has already signed on to the SAVE Act.

SAVE Act Discharge Petition Filed, Gaining Momentum

(March 15) Supporters of the enforcement-only SAVE Act (Secure America with Verification Enforcement; H.R. 408 have already gained more than two-thirds of the signers needed to force a vote in the U.S. House. Already 181 bi-partisan signers of the Discharge Petition filed by Rep. Thelma Drake (R-Va.) on Tuesday.

If the petition collects 218 House signatures, a simple majority, the bill can bypass the committee process and be placed on the House floor for a vote, regardless of any objections by Democratic leaders.

    Thanks,"

Thanks for your hard work and take on all this Phrede.

I see a number of Illinois names, some in bold -so I'll see if I can leave a message tomorrow. And on Monday I'll try to reach a live person.

Bobby Jindal's seat has not been filled yet, he was elected LA Governor so a replacement is needed. I bet whoever fills his seat would vote for it, I wonder when that will happen?

    Update: Sunday (3/16/200 -

As of today (3/16/200, the SAVE Act (HR408 discharge petition has 181 signatories and needs 37 more to bypass the committee process and proceed to a floor vote. The committee process would likely slow down progress and would provide the opposition opportunities
to insert provisions which would be unsupportable by our side (eg. a scaled down amnesty, for example).

I have compiled a list to focus our contact efforts upon the most important Representatives likely to help us. Before I go on, let me explain a couple things that are slightly different, compared to the typical progression of events in the past.

First, step back and think of the bigger picture here - instead of keeping a bad piece of legislation from being passed, we are working to help make a good one into law. Second, we are having to convince a significant number of Democratic legislators to favor our position. Accordingly, I would like to recommend that we make modest adjustment to our ‘message’ in contacting offices of Democratic Representatives (for Republicans, feel free to do the usual without a second thought).

For Democrats, emphasize the points that focus on protecting American jobs. Illegal Employment is destructive for the following reasons:

1). It allows unscrupulous businesses unfair competitive advantages, and punishes law-abiding businesses.

2). It tends to lock the most vulnerable Americans, especially blue-collar workers, out of badly-needed jobs.

3). Tax laws and local tax bases are often undermined by illegal employment.

These are all good and legitimate reasons that most Democrats will understand and can agree on. The key is to deliver the message in a sincere and focused manner.

You might also raise the point that the House Democratic leadership (Pelosi, Hoyer, etc) are the ones leading the blocking attempt of the discharge petition. So, please remind them - most Americans want enforcement focused immigration policy. Does the Representative work for the House Leadership, or for the voters that elected them into office?

Below is a listing of Republicans and Democrats that need to intense attention to get the SA discharge petition approved. Please call them. If you live in one of the following states, your efforts will be especially important this time around:
