02-25-2018, 05:51 PM #2Yeah, unfortunately the Justices ignored the laws the 14th Amendment was passed to ensure were protected equally, like US Civil Rights Laws, US Labor Laws, US Immigration Laws. The court used the Fourteenth Amendment, which states “no State shall … deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws,” as the foundation for its ruling.
“By denying these children a basic education, we deny them the ability to live within the structure of our civic institutions, and foreclose any realistic possibility that they will contribute in even the smallest way to the progress of our Nation,” the justices said in a 5-4 verdict.Last edited by Judy; 02-25-2018 at 05:54 PM.
