Apology accepted. I'll keep an ear open as to your work here. I have exams this week, so I best get back to my studies.
    Goodnight and God Bless.

You sound like some left-wing socialist. This is America. People and companies are free to donate gifts of funds to any group or person they want - so long as it does not fund terrorism. We don't dictate how gift funds are dispersed.

I don't dictate anything to anyone, but I do decide which businesses I will patronize.

There is an old courtroom saying that goes like this:

If you have the law on your side; argue the law. If you have the facts on yours side; argue the facts. If you have neither, attack the witness. I take your unkind remark above in that spirit. And in observance of the good taste of Alipac I will refrain from responding in kind.

These were course of study, GPA, an original essay, two letters of recommendation, and (above all) US citizenship. All of this was dismissed by another member as an "undeserved entitlement."
Look who's talking about whining. Just for the record La Raza boy, my Great Grandmother was from Spain, but I'm sure I wouldn't be eligible for Denny's bigoted, racist scholarship program.

Your bloodline would have qualified as hispanic heritage. But, did you even bother to try, and do you meet the rest of the requirements?

Is your GPA over 3.25? Are you in your second-year at an accredited university? Are your transcripts and letters of referrence in order? Did you submit your resume and an original essay? Are you studying Business or Finance?

Oh, well, so much for being well-mannered, huh? First of all. I am not la raza. Secondly, I am not a boy. Thirdly, my father is Norwegian so I am mixed. There was no racial purity standard, set forth by Denny's, to prove heritage... so long as it could be proven. My bloodline goes to the 17th century. Seems to me that you're more "hispanic" than I am. Or, if you prefer, "chicano or latino"

Here you are, third-generation American, with a signature written in Spanish that real Americans wouldn't waste their time trying to decipher. How's your granny's English?

I wil never understand the conceipt of heritage.
    We are all AMERICANS.
I've never heard in other countries this proclamation to be segregated on races.
For me this was a way for the elites to divide us.

    I hope this helps.

Heritage is where your ancestors originated from. Citizenship relates to the country you are born in and to whom you are loyal. Race relates to ethnicity, which is more of a cultural definition.

A person could be Irish by heritage, American by citizenship, and Caucasian by race.

I really do hope that helps because there is a difference between all of them. For instance, I consider myself first and foremost to be an American. But, I am of hispanic heritage, but am not a chicano.

Ok so I'm latin born and American natiuralized.
I DON'T care for my place of born once I choose another country. Neither I am going to carry any flag or have any alligency to that country. I AM American, and also, even if I speak my native language at home (I'm 66 and it's easier to speak) outside I don't want others to know my heritage (as you call). If somebody speaks spanish to me I say I DON'T speak.(what is a lie). I choose to be an aMERICAN SO i have to honor my choise I AM IN AMERICA and I and others have to speak english as hard as it can be .

What about people whose families go so far back being from the USA that their background before that is from many different places........

Any chance we could stick with "American" for those types?!

Or must EVERYONE claim something.......well, some people might just have to claim to be Heinz 57's if they must claim something!!

Not every American has a genealogist in their family who has traced their roots for them.

I know mine because we did have one in our family, but my husband is very uncertain of his which means "who knows" for our kids. Our kids all look different with different skin tones, eye color and hair color, yet the same parents.

One of my kids told me that whenever someone has ever asked him where he is REALLY from, he just makes places up!! He chooses places he likes!! Then he says, "I'm an American."
