Ginkgo biloba, often called the maidenhair tree, is dubbed "the living fossil." It has survived for more than 200 million years virtually unchanged, a testament to the resilience of nature. However, this tree renowned for its ancient properties has also earned a reputation throughout history as a powerful plant that boosts brain health.Writing for the Epoch Times, acupuncture physician Emma Suttie outlined the benefits of ginkgo biloba for the brain. It reportedly improves memory and overall cognitive function. Moreover, it has also been shown to help address various issues such as anxiety, depression and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder. (Related: Ginkgo biloba shows potential value in the treatment of over 100 diseases.)
The potency of ginkgo biloba lies in its diverse array of phytonutrients and bioactive components. One study published April 2020 in the journal Molecules elaborated on how the plant's antioxidant compounds address damage to brain cells caused by free radicals and oxidative stress.
According to the paper, the phytochemicals in ginkgo biloba regulate the release of neutrotransmitters – chemical messengers that allow communication between neurons and other cells in the body. These neurotransmitters play crucial roles in various functions such as cognition, mood regulation and muscle movement.
In their role as "neuroexocytosis regulators," the compounds in ginkgo biloba leaves act like traffic controllers that either speed up or slow down the release of these messengers. This regulation could potentially affect brain functions, such as attention, memory and mood.

Science-backed health benefits of ginkgo biloba

Aside from the April 2020 study in Molecules, Healthline also published several noteworthy benefits of ginkgo biloba backed by science. Here are some of them.
    Brain function

Ginkgo biloba has garnered attention for its purported ability to support cognitive function. Studies suggest that its antioxidant properties may help combat age-related cognitive decline and enhance concentration and memory.
    Alzheimer's disease management

Research indicates that ginkgo biloba may offer therapeutic potential in Alzheimer's disease management. It is believed to improve cerebral blood flow, promote neuronal plasticity and mitigate oxidative stress, thereby aiding in the preservation of cognitive function.
In individuals experiencing cognitive impairment, such as those with Alzheimer's disease or vascular dementia, ginkgo biloba supplementation has shown promise in facilitating immediate cognitive recovery. Its ability to widen blood vessels may enhance cerebral circulation, leading to improved cognitive performance.
    Cognitive function

Preliminary findings from a study presented at the American Stroke Association's International Stroke Conference 2024 suggest that individuals who have experienced ischemic (clot-caused) stroke may exhibit improved early recovery of cognitive function when treated with intravenous injections containing a combination of biologically active components derived from ginkgo biloba within the initial two weeks post-stroke, Science Daily reported.
    Psychiatric disorders

Among the spectrum of psychiatric disorders scrutinized, dementia emerged as the subject of extensive investigation–with notable findings from the meta-analysis of eight studies indicating significant disparities between ginkgo biloba and placebo. These disparities manifested in favorable outcomes encompassing improvements in cognition and activities of daily living, underscoring the potential therapeutic efficacy of ginkgo biloba in dementia management.
In addition, available evidence has lent support to the use of ginkgo biloba in chronic schizophrenia, particularly in its capacity to ameliorate positive psychotic symptoms. While no significant impact on negative symptoms was discerned, the observed beneficial effects on positive symptoms are noteworthy.
Scientists acknowledge that the beneficial effects of ginkgo biloba on dementia and chronic schizophrenia are moderate in magnitude. However, recent clinical trials have positioned ginkgo biloba on par with donepezil, a widely prescribed pharmacological agent in dementia treatment. This equivalence potentially advocates for the inclusion of ginkgo biloba as a viable therapeutic option–especially considering the limited pharmacological alternatives available for dementia management.
It's worth mentioning that in the context of schizophrenia, ginkgo biloba is typically used as an adjunctive therapy rather than a primary intervention. Hence, even a marginal improvement could hold significant value. Notably, across all trials, ginkgo biloba exhibited an exemplary safety profile, further endorsing its candidacy as a therapeutic adjunct in psychiatric care.
    Headaches and migraines

Rich in antioxidants, ginkgo biloba has been suggested to improve blood flow by neutralizing free radicals in the body and promoting vasodilation, which is the widening of blood vessels. By enhancing blood flow to the brain, it may help reduce the intensity and frequency of headaches and migraines, which can be triggered by restricted blood flow in certain regions of the brain.
Ginkgo biloba has been studied for its potential neuroprotective effects, which may help protect nerve cells in the brain from damage. Some headaches and migraines are associated with neurological factors, and ginkgo biloba's neuroprotective properties could potentially address these underlying causes.
Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that plays a role in regulating mood and pain perception. Imbalances in serotonin levels have been implicated in migraines. Some studies suggest that ginkgo biloba may modulate serotonin levels, which could contribute to its ability to alleviate headache and migraine symptoms.
    How to use ginkgo biloba

Consider the following guidelines on the best ways to take ginkgo biloba as a nutritional supplement or to achieve other therapeutic goals:

    • Consult with your healthcare professional before starting any new supplement regimen, especially if you have underlying health conditions or are taking medications. They can provide personalized guidance based on your individual health needs. While numerous studies suggest potential health benefits of ginkgo biloba, individual responses to ginkgo biloba can vary.

    • When selecting a ginkgo biloba supplement, opt for a reputable brand that provides standardized extracts with reliable potency and purity. Look for products that have been independently tested for quality and safety.

    • Follow the recommended dosage instructions provided on the supplement packaging or as advised by your healthcare provider. It's important not to exceed the recommended dosage, as excessive intake may lead to adverse effects.

    • Like many herbal supplements, the effects of ginkgo biloba may take time to manifest. Be patient and consistent with your supplementation regimen, and allow sufficient time for the effects to be noticeable.

    • Some people find it beneficial to take ginkgo biloba with meals to enhance absorption, while others prefer taking it on an empty stomach. Experiment with different timing options to see what works best for you.

    • While ginkgo biloba is generally well-tolerated by most people, some individuals may experience side effects, such as allergic reactions, gastrointestinal discomfort or headaches. Be mindful of how ginkgo biloba interacts with other medicines you are taking, including blood thinners, antidepressants, and anticonvulsants. If you are taking any medications, discuss potential interactions with your healthcare provider before taking ginkgo biloba supplementation.

    • Combine taking Ginkgo biloba with healthy lifestyle practices While ginkgo biloba may offer potential benefits for brain health and overall well-being, it's important to complement supplementation with other healthy lifestyle practices. This includes maintaining a balanced diet, staying physically active, managing stress levels, getting adequate sleep, and engaging in mental stimulation activities.

Study: Betalains in beets can help reduce fatigue and boost athletic performance

    04/15/2024 // Zoey Sky // 1.5K Views

Studies have shown that beets offer many benefits, such as promoting heart health.Data has also revealed that the nutritious root vegetable contains natural plant pigments and phytochemicals that have science-backed abilities to sustain and boost the health and function of several body systems.
Additionally, a recent study found that unique compounds in beets can help fight oxidative stress and inflammation. Researchers also reported that these compounds may help reduce fatigue, boost energy levels and even improve athletic performance.
The study was published in the journal Current Nutrition Reports. For this study, the research team analyzed betalains for their therapeutic potential.
Betalains, the natural plant pigments responsible for the bright red color of beets, have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. These compounds also boost the levels of beneficial nitric oxide in the body, in turn helping to relax arteries and improve blood flow and circulation.
The researchers said this increases the availability of oxygen, which leads to enhanced performance during exercise. The review authors credited betalains with alleviating exercise-induced fatigue and improving sports performance.
The new review builds on previous studies, such as a small randomized controlled trial published in the journal Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise that showed how beet juice can improve oxygen use and enhance performance in a group of amateur cyclists exercising at simulated high altitudes. (Related: Un-beet-able: Study shows beetroot can boost athletic performance.)
The authors of the recent review also mentioned other studies showing how betalains could help ease exercise-induced muscle damage.
Both professional and amateur athletes know that intense physical activity can damage skeletal muscles, which causes symptoms like stiffness, pain and loss of muscle strength that can last from two to 14 days.
People who have overexerted themselves at the gym may understand the aching and weakness that can follow after intense physical activity. Fortunately, beets and beet juice might offer some relief.
A 2024 study published in the journal Nutrients found that beetroot extracts can significantly decrease blood levels of inflammatory markers such as C-reactive protein and malondialdehyde. For the study, researchers observed 32 elite athletes who had just run a marathon.
The results of the 2024 study also revealed that beet extracts boost the activity of glutathione, a potent antioxidant and detoxicant produced in the body. The research team suggested that beetroot supplementation "positively influences" recovery from muscle damage.
The 2024 study also supports the findings of an earlier article published in the journal Sports Medicine, where researchers credited betalains with reducing post-exercise muscle damage, inflammation and fatigue. They also added that the compounds helped speed recovery after workouts.
Beets can also support optimal heart health

Experts also think that the same properties of beets that enhance athletic stamina, like boosting increasing nitric oxide and promoting blood flow, can support optimal heart health.
Aside from betalains, research has suggested that healthy levels of potassium in beets can help lower blood pressure.
In addition, one cup of cooked beets contains four grams of fiber, which can help support lower levels of homocysteine. This can offer benefits because excessive amounts of homocysteine have been linked to heart disease.
Sarah Thomsen Ferreira, a registered dietitian, has advised that beets can help improve arterial health and reduce LDL (low-density lipoprotein) cholesterol.
Beets are savory and earthy with a satisfying consistency. A low-calorie superfood, beets may help create a sense of fullness that can reduce overeating and fight against obesity. As a bonus, beets can help stabilize blood sugar. These root crops are also a good source of folate, a B vitamin that can help prevent strokes.

DARK SECRETS: Your dark chocolate may contain lead and cadmium

    04/17/2024 // HRS Editors // 920 Views

Tags: badfood, badhealth, badpollution, Cacao, Chocolate, cocoa, cocoa nibs, contaminants, dark chocolate, emergency food, emergency stockpile, food science, food supply, Heavy metals, homesteading, off grid, preparedness, prepper, prepper pantry, prepping, prepping stockpile, SHTF, survival, toxic ingredients

For people with a sweet tooth who are worried about their sugar intake, dark chocolate may seem like a healthier alternative to other sugary treats like cookies or milk chocolate.
After all, many studies have suggested that dark chocolate is rich in antioxidants that can help boost overall well-being. Additionally, dark chocolate contains relatively low levels of sugar.
The National Confectioners Association has even reported that more than 50 percent of survey takers have "described dark chocolate as a 'better for you' candy."
But like other superfoods, not all kinds of dark chocolate are automatically good for you.
Research findings have revealed that some cocoa products like dark chocolate bars contain heavy metals like cadmium and lead which are linked to various health problems in both children and adults. (h/t to ConsumerReports.org)
Dark chocolate offers health benefits, but some brands are contaminated with heavy metals

The chocolate industry is aware of heavy metal contaminants in chocolate products and has been struggling to lower those levels.
To find out how much of a risk chocolates pose, Consumer Reports (CR) scientists measured the amount of heavy metals in 28 dark chocolate bars. The experts said they detected cadmium and lead in all of them.
CR tested different brands, including smaller ones like Alter Eco, and more familiar ones such as Ghirardelli.
Out of the 28 tested chocolate bars, eating only one ounce per day of 23 of the products would put an adult over a level that public health authorities and CR’s experts warn could be harmful to at least one of those heavy metals.
Additionally, five of the tested chocolates were above those levels for both cadmium and lead. This is bad because consistent, long-term exposure to even small amounts of heavy metals can harm your health.
Tunde Akinleye, the CR food safety researcher who led the testing project, warned that the danger is greatest for pregnant women and young children because the metals can cause developmental problems. Heavy metals can also harm brain development and result in lower IQ.
Akinleye warned that heavy metals may harm people regardless of age.
He added that frequent exposure to lead in adults may cause health issues such as:

    • Hypertension (high blood pressure)
    • Immune system suppression
    • Kidney damage
    • Nervous system problems
    • Reproductive issues

Mintel, a market research firm, has reported that while not everyone eats chocolate every day, 15 percent of people do.
And even though you don't eat chocolate frequently, exposure to lead and cadmium can still be a concern. These heavy metals can also be found in other foods, like carrots, spinach and sweet potatoes.
Small amounts of heavy metals from different sources can still add up to dangerous levels, which is why you need to limit exposure when you can.
Akinleye advised that despite the CR test results, you don't need to avoid chocolate forever. While most of the chocolate bars tested had concerning levels of lead, cadmium, or both, five of the tested products were relatively low in both heavy metals.
Akinleye said that this is proof that companies can make chocolates with lower amounts of heavy metals and that consumers can still find safer products to enjoy.
Worried about dark chocolate with heavy metals? Try Organic Cacao nibs

Determining the exact amount of dark chocolate that’s risky to eat is difficult because heavy metal levels can vary. At the same time, different people have different risk levels and chocolate isn't the only source of heavy metal exposure.
But experts say that by being mindful of the risks, you can still enjoy dark chocolate while minimizing the potential harms. (Related: Cacao nibs: The ultimate superfood packed with antioxidants.)
Aside from choosing your dark chocolates wisely, you can also make changes to your shopping and eating habits so you can continue to eat chocolate safely. For example, you can avoid brands with known high heavy metal content and opt for safer choices, like lab-verified organic cacao nibs from trusted sources.
The purest and rawest form of chocolate, cacao nibs are small pieces of crushed beans from the Theobroma cacao tree, which is native to Central and South America. Unlike cocoa, which has been roasted and heavily processed, raw cacao is untreated and unprocessed.
This means that cacao offers the full, rich flavor of delectable dark chocolate with none of the added sugars, sweeteners, emulsifiers, flavorings, thickeners, preservatives, or other additives that are usually found in regular chocolate products.
The Health Ranger Store is committed to protecting you from products contaminated with heavy metals and we’re proud to introduce Groovy Bee Organic Raw Cacao Nibs. Grown and harvested by trusted suppliers in Peru, our premium cacao nibs are among the cleanest cacao products on the market.
Groovy Bee Organic Raw Cacao Nibs are vegan, non-GMO, non-China and certified Kosher and organic. They are also meticulously lab-tested for glyphosate, heavy metals and microbes.

Study claims drinking a mug of black tea provides enough nutrients to prevent COVID infection

    04/16/2024 // Ethan Huff // 2.7K Views

Tags: alternative medicine, antiviral, black tea, covid-19, food cures, food is medicine, goodhealth, goodmedicine, goodscience, Green tea, grocery cures, herbal medicine, Herbs, infections, matcha tea, natural cures, natural health, natural medicine, natural remedies, outbreak, pandemic, Plague, prevention, superfoods, tea

The symptoms commonly associated with the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) may be preventable by drinking a single mug of black tea every day, a new study claims.Researchers from the University of Georgia (UGA) say that one cup of black tea provides an additional line of defense against possible infection by "inactivating" the so-called virus inside the mouth.
Five different tea varieties – raspberry zinger, eucalyptus mint, mint medley, green tea and black tea – were evaluated as part of the research, each one prepared with a single tea bag steeped for 10 minutes. All of the teas were found to reduce the prevalence of COVID by 96 percent within 10 seconds of contact in the mouth.
Of the five teas tested, black tea was found to be the most effective, reducing COVID infection potential by an astounding 99.9 percent.
"At this stage, we are not suggesting tea as a stand-alone intervention against COVID because the virus also replicates in the nose and may have already reached the lung by the time a person tests positive," commented Malak Esseili, a virologist at UGA who led the study.
"But tea can be an additional layer of intervention that the patients and their families can easily adopt on a routine basis."
(Related: Check out this article we published last year that provides clues as to how to remove toxic graphene oxide from the body.)
Green, matcha tea also effective against COVID

The findings are backed by another study out of the Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine in Japan. Researchers there found that both green tea and matcha tea may help to limit the transmission of COVID.
In green tea varieties, two compounds – EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate) and TFDG (theaflavin digallate) – appear to bind to the spike protein of COVID, rendering it ineffective at causing infection.
Green and matcha tea were found in the same Japanese study to be particularly effective against the Omicron variant of COVID, which the media and government scared everyone with after the original strains of COVID started to wane.
"Having something that is accessible, easily prepared and suitable for all the family would be ideal," added Esseili about his study concerning black tea.
Esseili's research actually began at the start of COVID when the world was scared by the media and government into locking down and wearing a mask, which had never before happened on a global scale.
Looking for something to protect herself and her family, Esseili got to work looking at natural remedies that were easy to use and palatable for most. Black tea fit the bill, and after a quick trip to the grocery store, she got to work investigating the beverage.
Together with green and matcha tea, black tea is an easy-to-access and very affordable food that, even if it is not as foolproof against COVID as Esseili's study found, is worth a shot.
"Inactivating SARS-CoV-2 in the mouth and the throat matters because that potentially reduces the introduction of the virus to the lower respiratory system," she explained.
Clinical trials are still needed to better understand how tea works to protect against COVID. It apparently works both as a beverage and a gargle, meaning people can swish black tea around in their mouth and not even consume it and still obtain benefits from it.
Esseili is a virologist at UGA's Center for Food Safety in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. Her study was published in the journal Food and Environmental Virology, a Springer journal.

Damage at Glen Canyon Dam could jeopardize water supplies in Western U.S.

    04/16/2024 // Cassie B. // 2.4K Views

Tags: aging infrastructure, big government, chaos, clean water, Collapse, Colorado River, Glen Canyon Dam, Lake Mead, Lake Powell, panic, pipes, rationing, scarcity, SHTF, water shortage, water supply, Water Wars

Officials have identified significant pipe damage in a major U.S. dam on the Colorado River that could leave 30 million Americans suffering from a water shortage. This is just the latest example of how the nation’s aging infrastructure is impacting quality of life.According to inspectors from the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, the Glen Canyon Dam has sustained severe pipe damage. As a result, there will not be a spring water release, which could compromise supplies of water downstream.
The affected pipes are known as the river outlet works and release water from Lake Powell into the Colorado River to flow into Lake Mead. So far, there has been no word on a fall release, and residents who depend on the water in Utah, Nevada and California are facing uncertainty about their water supply and could face ongoing water shortages as a result.
Lake Mead is the nation's biggest reservoir when it is full, and water flows there through four eight-foot-wide pipes along its 200-mile journey when the dam releases water. However, the damage means that the dam might not be able to offer a consistent release of water to Lake Mead. The reservoir is currently just under one third full.
A memo released by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation warned: “In summary, at reservoir levels below the minimum power pool (elevation 3,490 ft), there are concerns with relying on the river outlet works as the sole means of sustained water releases from Glen Canyon Dam.”
The pipe damage is the result of a process known as cavitation in which small air bubbles in the water pop as they pass through the plumbing of the dam, creating an implosion that forms shock waves capable of tearing away small chunks of the protective coating that lines the inside of the pipes. It is believed to have occurred over time rather than as the result of one specific event. Experts note that this type of damage is more likely when the reservoir’s levels are low. It will need to be addressed with repairs such as a fresh coating of epoxy, something that may not be possible until next year.
The damage was discovered following a high flow experiment that saw a significant volume of water released to feed Lake Mead. No water will be released this month, which will keep Lake Powell’s water level high and safe for area residents, while those downstream will be in jeopardy.
Threat to water supplies should not be overlooked

Even before the report announcing the damaged pipes was released, the Glen Canyon Dam has been at the heart of concerns about the shrinking Colorado River for some time. Water experts worry that the water level in Lake Powell could fall so low that water cannot pass through the hydropower turbines that are responsible for generating the electricity used by 5 million Americans across seven states. Should the water levels drop even lower, water will not be able to pass through the dam at all.
The executive director of the Glen Canyon Institute, Eric Balken, has warned that the pipe damage could pose a major threat to water supplies. He said: “I think it's really important for people to recognize how much of a threat this is to our water delivery system. This is a really big infrastructure problem, and it has a big impact on how water is managed throughout this whole basin.”
The affected tubes were designed in the 1950s, and Utah Rivers Council Executive Director Zach Frankel said that their age is a major factor in the damage.
“The plumbing design of Glen Canyon Dam is archaic. It's just too old. It's literally antique plumbing, and it's going to have to be fixed by lowering the bypass tubes to a lower water level, presumably at riverbed level,” he said, adding that repairs could cost hundreds of millions of dollars.

Dr. Judy Mikovits: Health agencies are hiding the cures for cancer

    04/17/2024 // Belle Carter // 3.1K Views

Tags: alternative medicine, badcancer, badhealth, badscience, big government, Biosludge, cancer solutions, Censored Science, conspiracy, corruption, deception, health freedom, Health Ranger Report, Judy Mikovits, medical censorship, Medical Tyranny, Mike Adams, natural cures, natural medicine, Oncology, science tyranny, Suppressed

Renowned biomedical research scientist Dr. Judy Mikovits warns that government health agencies are hiding the cures for cancer due to greed and corruption.Mikovits revealed this during a recent episode of the "Health Ranger Report" with Mike Adams, the Health Ranger. According to her, they discovered plants and botanicals that can cure cancers like prostate cancer. But Big Government shut them down as they were making progress with their research.
"All the patents before that and all the intellectual property made by Frank Rossetti [were discarded]. We know what they did. They fired him. They locked him in a closet in Fort Detrick, with one technician who happened to be the one from hell. They shut you down. They take it all. They give somebody else your work, they publish it as fraud," she said. Rossetti was her colleague who discovered the human T-lymphotropic virus 1, the first disease associated with human retrovirus.
Mikovits herself was suppressed because of her scientific knowledge. She lost everything she ever made, such as the $10 million from Morehouse College. She became homeless and lived on a boat for some time. And her husband was murdered. "We have proof, we have absolute proof. And that's what we're running on now."
She also recalled a time when there was a syndrome of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome called immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome. "I remember very clearly what to do with your immune system. We don't make fevers. We don't get with the Interleukin-1 or IL-1 beta or the cytokine storm. We can see these things and fix it," she further stated. "If you turn that on too fast, you burn out. You have to manipulate it to hit the core pathways. We've done that over the last 15 years. We're 25 years ahead of their time."
    Mikovits: We are being censored

Elsewhere in the show, Adams brought up how scientists have been implementing "fraudulent science innovations" that cause more harm than good. One example: biosludge.
"Think about all the hormone disruptors in the biosludge that spread on the farms. And we are living in a deliberate toxic stew but then people are still signing up to take more jabs, swallow more pharmaceuticals, grow their food but they're growing their food on human shit," he said. "Every city is dumping its raw sewage all over the farms and people are like, 'I trust the science.'" (Related: Regulators STILL allowing toxic BIOSLUDGE to be dumped all over food crops, polluting them with PFAS "forever chemicals.")
"There is no science to that," Mikovits quipped. She added that when you do statistics, there are always lies.
"Here's the science," she said pointing to all her books. "None of these books are in any library and being taught to medical students. They are being taught immunology. They're being taught consensus and propaganda. Gravity is gravity and viruses are viruses. And I know how they work. I got Ebola, and have it out very recently."
Mikovits is doing everything to let people know the truth, but it's not going to be easy. "We can't get people to hear us if we're censored," she said.

Spirulina protects against COVID death, study finds

    04/18/2024 // Ethan Huff // 340 Views

A new randomized controlled trial published in the journal Frontiers in Immunology reveals that spirulina, a nutrient-dense blue-green algae, is powerfully effective against the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19).For six days, patients who tested positive for COVID took either spirulina and a conventional remedy, or just a conventional remedy without spirulina. Everyone in the spirulina group survived, but 15 percent of the non-spirulina group ended up dying.
"The overall results of the present study showed that a six-day course of Spirulina platensis plus the standard treatment of COVID-19 was superior for the recovery of patients compared to standard treatment alone," the authors wrote.
The research took place at two separate Iranian hospitals and involved 189 total patients. The spirulina group took 15.2 grams of the supplement powder in capsules alongside a standard COVID treatment while the other group just took the standard treatment.
The dosage of spirulina used was based on earlier research suggesting this amount is effective both as an anti-inflammatory and an antioxidant.
In both the spirulina and the non-spirulina group, half of the test patients were in an intensive care unit (ICU) while the other half were in a non-ICU.
(Related: Supplementing with spirulina is also effective against chemical dioxins, helping to detoxify them from the body.)
Imagine the benefits of spirulina alone

All in all, 91 patients took spirulina. Some of them ended up withdrawing from the study, but not a single person died, including from the ICU group where patients suffered more severe symptoms.
In the control group that did not receive spirulina, there were 98 participants, 46 of whom were non-ICU. In the control pool, four people died from the non-ICU group while 11 people died from the ICU group. All patients received a follow-up evaluation for seven days.
As you might expect, the spirulina group was found to show significant reductions in inflammatory markers in their blood, along with much higher oxygen levels than the control group.
The standard, non-spirulina treatment included antiviral therapy with remdesivir, corticosteroids (dexamethasone) and anticoagulants (heparin or enoxaparin). Patients that showed excessive inflammation were also given tocilizumab or other steroids.
It is important to note that nobody in the study received spirulina alone. Had there been a spirulina-alone group that did not receive remdesivir and the other drugs, perhaps there would have been even greater outcomes among the patient pool.
The reason for mentioning this is that remdesivir is a highly deadly drug that shows minimal, if any, benefits. It is a bit duplicitous to call the group that received remdesivir and the other drugs minus spirulina a "control" group, but this is the same thing they do in vaccine studies by giving the "placebo" group other vaccines rather than simple saline.
Thankfully for everyone in the spirulina-plus-conventional therapy group, they all lived despite taking remdesivir – but the same cannot be said of the non-spirulina group which lost 15 people to early death.
"It doesn't surprise me that there are benefits from adding this to the diet and regimen of those in hospital," commented Dr. Yusuf Saleeby, an integrative medicine doctor and director of the Carolina Holistic Medicine clinic, in a statement.
Spirulina, by the way, contains healthy levels of beta carotene, B-complex vitamins, vitamin E and various minerals such as copper, manganese, selenium and zinc. Spirulina also contains an essential fatty acid known as gamma-linolenic acid.
"All these are important in maintaining health and a healthy immune system," Saleeby said about these nutrients.
Saleeby and other natural clinicians routinely prescribe spirulina and another blue-green algae type known as chlorella "to detoxify patients with chronic diseases, toxicities and poisoning" since the two algae varieties draw out and absorb heavy metals from the body, which are then excreted.

Dangers of GM corn spark huge trade dispute between the U.S. and Mexico

    04/18/2024 // Cassie B. // 2.3K Views

Mexico and the U.S. are currently engaged in a major trade dispute over genetically modified corn that could have a major impact on American agriculture.Corn is considered a staple crop in Mexico and makes up a significant part of the diet there; it is consumed in 89 percent of all Mexican meals. The country has successfully stopped genetically modified corn from being grown there for the last quarter century to protect the ancient maize strains growing there, along with the health of their citizens.
The crop has been the subject of trade battles between the U.S. and Mexico before, but the current battle, which is now being argued before a United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) panel, relates to a presidential decree issued by Mexico last year banning genetically modified corn in dough and tortillas; the country also declared it will gradually replace genetically modified corn in all human and animal foods.
Both Canada and the U.S. are opposed to the ban, with American trade representatives insisting that the corn does not damage health and attempting to force it into Mexico. It’s clear why they are so eager to push this narrative; genetically modified seed is used in 90 percent of American crops. However, a ban could also have ramifications for the German corporation Bayer, which purchased GM seed producer Monsanto, and the Chinese state-owned seed and agrichemical producer Syngenta.
Mexico maintains that the U.S. has not presented any proof that genetically modified corn is safe in the long term, especially when it is consumed at the high volumes seen in the typical Mexican diet. Corn consumption is a remarkable ten times higher in Mexico than the U.S., making research linking genetically modified crops to health issues particularly concerning among governmental and medical officials there.
The Epoch Times points out that this trade disagreement also draws attention to the conflicting ideological values between the two countries. While Mexico is chiefly concerned with protecting indigenous maize and public health, the U.S. is focused on protecting the agricultural biotechnology sector and American farmers.
Now, a three-member panel of the USMCA will be tasked with considering the scientific evidence and arguments to make a ruling, and the outcome could have significant repercussions for agriculture.
Canadian Biotechnology Action Network Coordinator Lucy Sharratt told the publication: “If the panel pays attention to the science, they should come to the same conclusion as the Mexican government. If they’re swayed by politics and the power behind the technology, it’s going to be difficult for them to see the reality of the science.”
The group, which is devoted to educating the public on genetic engineering in food, was originally invited to provide input to the trade tribunal, but the offer was later rescinded following requests by the U.S. and Canadian governments.
Mexico presents scientific studies demonstrating the dangers of GM corn and glyphosate

Mexico is presenting 66 articles published in reputable, peer-reviewed journals demonstrating the health risks of genetically modified corn. These include reductions in nutritional content, organ damage, antibiotic resistance and cancer.
Mexico has also sought a ban on glyphosate, the carcinogenic weed killer used on these crops. Genetically modified corn is engineered to resist glyphosate, the main ingredient in the highly popular weed killer RoundUp, which means that GM corn is sprayed generously with the toxic chemical. The ban was supposed to go into effect at the beginning of this month, but it has been pushed back while the government finds a suitable alternative that is available in sufficient amounts.
They included 74 papers and studies about the dangers of glyphosate in their report, including evidence of residues of the chemical on GM corn.
One study that looked into the dangers of the chemical from the Journal of Organic Systems found a sharp rise in the prevalence of 22 diseases that coincided with the increasing use of glyphosate, including diabetes, Alzheimer’s, inflammatory bowel disease, stroke, hypertension, diabetes, several types of cancer and multiple sclerosis.
