Originally, I supported Obama as I felt at least he has a brain (magna cum laude from Harvard law) while McCain struck me as another puppet, like GWBush, a figurehead to spout the lines that the Republicans and corporations decide should be American policy and direction. And this from a former card-carrying Republican!
McCain, in crossing the aisle to Kennedy, came up with the amnesty bill.
Obama should have been opposed to amnesty but he came up with similar crap in a speech I was watching, but I remember throwing something at the TV.
I will be writing in Ron Paul, if for no other reason than protesting these two characters, one of which we will have to hand our nation to.

Don't forget that Osama wants a $854 billion UN donation for the poor. Where is he going to get this money? Oh yea, it will be you and me. We need to spend that money on our infastructure so that we don't sell off our assests to foreign countries that will benefit from our tax money. Yea votre for Obama and you will be sorry that we will turn into more of a socialist state than we already are. I do not like Mccain either. I will vote thrid party and don't anyone tell me I will be throwing my vote away. That is what has been wrong with our voting to date. WE vote for the least of two evils. Maybe, if we all voted another candidate, it will send a strong message to these two parties that we are sick and tired of ot being represented.
Also his tax and cap bill will bring our gas taxes out of site.

Amnesty (more specifically no amnesty) is probably my biggest issue, or at least one of them. This is why I can't and won't support John McCain. As Kirkorian said, mass amnesty is personal with McCain, less so with Obama. Not that I'll vote for Obama, but either way it's going to be a tough four years on the federal level. Let's get ready to fight against amnesty again.

McCain at least says he wants the borders secure first....Obama JUST wants Amnesty and leave the borders open.....Something to think about

McCain even told the LaRazaites that the border had to be secured first, much to their dismay. My view is at least, his feet can be held to the fire on this and any other deals can be pushed farther into the future. Obama simply believes in open borders and amnesty for all.

Sure, McCain claims he will secure the border first (before he tries again to ram mass amnesty down our throats) but if you peel back his rhetoric, his words ring hollow. For example, how does he define a "secured border" ? Relying on border governors to "certify" this does not assure. And didn't he say he will try "comprehensive reform" (amnesty) within his first 100 days in office? Well, there is no way the border can be truly secured in a few months.

And of course, a secured border is only part of the solution, along with enforcement of laws etc. Not suprisingly, McCain is weak on this (as is Obama).

Nope, McCain is as equally bad (and more dangerous) as Obama on amnesty and open borders.

The only reason I can see to vote for McCain is that he will have a harder time getting his version of amnesty through Congress than will Obama. With Obama, amnesty is a slam-dunk through the soon-to-be even more left wing Congress. With McCain in charge, I believe that there will be some Democrats that will oppose amnesty simply to deny him a "victory".
    ----Politico blog

Do you think the dems would let the Republicans take credit for immigration reform, forever being able to use that as a campaign tool?? I don't know. McCain has talked about a temporary worker program which he says would be truly temporary. The dems are all amnesty. I foresee a fight between Republicans and dems over just what form immigration reform should take. The other thing is the recent democrat upsets over republicans have come because the dems have taken a hard-line on illegal immigration. I think there will be a lot of support among the blue dogs on immigration based on their campaign rhetoric. We do have Heath Schuler.

I don't think anything will happen before 2010 because there is a lot of distractions in the world. We could have a replay of the last big amnesty defeat if we hold onto enough conservatives in the House and Senate.

Between this time, there will be marches by illegals and stages demonstrations which will futher anger people. Politicians are afraid if amnesty is a disaster, they will be blamed, that's why they will insist on cooperation between both parties, so neither one can take the blame. The first thing we will likely see is a "temp" worker program.

It's a sad situation with no real candidates to vote for, but I will NOT vote for Obama and I'm not sure about McCain.

According to polls, 86% of Republicans support McCain while only 78% of democrats support Obama. The Hillary "wing" is a problem and many will vote for McCain. I wouldn't doubt McCain wins by a landslide simply because Obama is so horrible.

Sorry, but voting for either one of these idiots will bring America to its knees. It will be America's last gasp for breath. America as we know it will be lost forever. This election has been a secretly guarded plan to stifle the people into believing there will be a change for the better. Obama, Obama, Obama. That is all we hear. Obama is in our face everyday.

Obama is a "citizen of the world", NOT OF THE UNITED STATES. Obama has ties with Saudi Arabia, Hamas, and other groups that want America destroyed. Michelle Obama is his partner. She is "finally proud to be an American". What the hell does that mean?

Our only hope lies within Congress. We must elect the right people in order to keep a left-wing socialist regime from being installed.
