Holder: Obama to dramatically expand drug clemency

President Barack Obama is preparing to make much broader use of his power to grant commutations to non-violent drug convicts who have served long sentences, Attorney General Eric Holder said in a video released Monday.
“The White House has indicated it wants to consider additional clemency applications, to restore a degree of justice, fairness, and proportionality for deserving individuals who do not pose a threat to public safety,” Holder said. “The Justice Department is committed to recommending as many qualified applicants as possible for reduced sentences.”

Holder said the new effort will focus on prisoners serving longer sentences than they would if they were facing justice now, but he did not say it was limited to that circumstance.
“There are still too many people in federal prison who were sentenced under the old regime — and who, as a result, will have to spend far more time in prison than they would if sentenced today for exactly the same crime,” the attorney general said.
Holder said the Justice Department is setting new criteria that will allow its Office of the Pardon Attorney to consider applications from a wider variety of convicts. In addition, the attorney general said that office’s staff would be bolstered, “potentially” with dozens of new attorneys to deal with the expected wave of applications.
So far, Obama has been extremely restrained in his use of the clemency powers, granting only ten commutations in more than five years in office. He has granted 52 pardons, though all went to convicts who had long since completed their sentences.
White House Press Secretary Jay Carney confirmed Monday that the Justice Department’s steps to invigorate the clemency process are being taken at Obama’s direction.
“The president wants to make sure that everyone has a fair shot under the clemency system,” Carney told reporters at a daily briefing. “He has asked the Department of Justice to set up a process aimed at ensuring that anyone who has a good case for commutation has their application seen and evaluated thoroughly.”
Holder began signaling more aggressive moves on commutation back in January, when he said the Justice Department would step up its efforts to seek clemency applications.
“One of the things we have to do is to make people who are incarcerated aware of that avenue,” Holder said in an appearance at the University of Virginia. “The president is willing to do these kinds of things…For him to look at them, we have to get them into the system, and to him.”
Holder also said Obama may be more open to such actions now than he was earlier in his presidency. “You can’t come in, I think, on Day One and do the kinds of things we’re now doing in Year 5. It’s a process,” the attorney general said in the same exchange. “You also have to build support for the kinds of things we want to do.”
At a congressional hearing earlier this month, Holder fielded complaints about the new commutation effort from a Republican who thought it too aggressive, and a Democrat who said it didn’t go far enough.
“Can you give me any precedent of previous attorney generals’ offices who have solicited petitions for pardons or clemency limited to a particular category of crime?” Rep. Randy Forbes (R-Va.) asked. He wondered why DOJ wasn’t seeking clemency applications from those convicted of “white-collar crime or campaign finance laws or a host of other areas that have been over-criminalized, all who also do the overcrowding that we’re very concerned with, but have a much lower recidivism rate.”

"How could former Ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice, during the five Sunday talk shows on September 16, 2012, claim that the attacks on our compounds were caused by a hateful video when Mr. Morell testified that the CIA never mentioned the video as a causal factor," said the letter, from Sens. Lindsey Graham, of South Carolina; Kelly Ayotte, of New Hampshire; and John McCain, of Arizona.

Does anyone else find it a bit too convenient that RINOs rather than conservatives have lifted the flag and assumed the command post as opposition party leaders against the most vulnerable point in the wall of Fortress Obama? It's amazing to me how this administration has any credibility left with the American people. In the America I once lived in, there was a sleeping giant that stood vigilant, jealously guarding our liberties as if they were the most precious of jewels. An administration that has lied and attempted to subvert the Constitution as often as this one, would be called out and humiliated by a press corps that understood its duty in protecting the First Amendment. Not in this America; the country we live in today is unrecognizable, and besides, that only happens when Republicans lie, cheat and steal. Instead of guarding liberty, the masses have been conditioned, through the same propaganda used by tyrants all throughout the twentieth century, to hate their own culture and discredit the very system that grants them the liberty to do so. The liberal's attitude towards America and the Constitution is the perfect example of "biting the hand that feeds you."

Every single day, we face a barrage of psychological propaganda and conditioning, designed to ensure, at the very least, that the growing patriot movement has no credibility. This is a war for public sympathy, and the government is going to great lengths to ensure that the average citizens are afraid of guns and everything patriotic. Every day there is a shooting reported in the news, unless of course, it is a good guy using a gun to stop a crime. We all know this happens far more than the rate guns are used to murder. All of us know this, except the targeted population of their mind control agenda: our children.

This psychological brainwashing is occurring in more ways than most people would like to realize. It was no coincidence that the Bundy ranch incident and Russia's invasion of Ukraine happened at the same time. Now, with reports of pro-Russian separatists, being reported by King Obama as "well armed militia," having the power to shoot down helicopters, the desired mental association will start to take effect. They are calling them "militia" for a reason folks. That reason is because we have militia members who showed up to defend a man's rights against a terrorist government that threatened to take them by force. The patriot movement in America simply must be destroyed, and world events will contribute to its destruction. The Bundy Ranch "standoff" and the developing war in Europe will be used to usher in the new order.

I also don't understand how Americans are not concerned about a supreme court that refused to hear a challenge to the NDAA, which as we know, enables the military to indefinitely detain anyone who has been classified as a terrorist. As Dean Garrison correctly points out, this essentially means that this law and its enforcement can likely never be challenged. With the government trying to convince the unwashed masses that those defending liberty are the terrorists, you have to wonder when the trains are going to come rolling through, and who will have the intestinal fortitude to resist being thrown on board. This is where Americans need to think long and hard, because we are all related to someone who loves this nation, served in the military, spoke out against Obama, and in some way, falls under the government's new definition of terrorism.

While we are being classified as terrorists for loving our country, real Islamic terrorism is on a relentless rampage, slaughtering Christians overseas. How does our government respond to this? By trying to pass legislation that would see us stand accused of hate speech for telling the truth about Islam, of course. Never mind that Muslims are preaching in our own country, that the lives and property of infidels can be taken by Muslims in jihad. That doesn't bother liberals though, because they believe in "multiculturalism," you see they are so sophisticated, that they view us as bigots for opposing the idea that a Muslim can legally murder his wife under sharia law. This is due to fear of being labeled intolerant and racist, and not having the courage to reach down and grab hold of your guts and speak up. Guess what America? If standing against this garbage makes me intolerant, then so be it! Some things are simply intolerable.

Every day we move closer to the inevitable destruction of this country, and every single day I wake up to realize how few people actually care. Most people become so consumed with the entertainment propaganda machine that constantly feeds their brains, they begin to think its reality. They have been conditioned to accept whatever the "perceived authority figure" is telling them. Unfortunately, for many Americans, that authority figure has been the main stream media. Now, many Americans watch in horror as the country slips away into the hands of despots, as those that have been conditioned to believe anything a charismatic leader says and cheer on the country's demise in the name of "fairness." They have been taught all throughout school that America is the evil empire, that they can't even see they are being lied to, they just blindly follow and they can't see how close to edge of the cliff they have been led.

Obama Decries ‘Racial Bias’: Suggests Uneven Application Of The Death Penalty’

President Barack Obama Friday tried to raise his supporters’ long-standing opposition to jury-directed death penalties by suggesting to a French reporter that Americans jurors and judges may be biased against African-Americans.

“What happened in Oklahoma was deeply troubling,” said Obama, referring to a recent execution of an African-American man in Oklahoma.
A Pew report in March showed that only 36 percent of African-Americans and 40 percent Latinos support the death penalty. In contrast, roughly 63 percent of whites support the death penalty.

In Oklahoma, the condemned man did not die quickly because his vein collapsed, hindering passage of the first of three execution drugs. Fifteen years ago, the man had kidnapped four people. He eventually executed one of them — an 18-year-old teenager — after she watched her grave being dug for 20 minutes. The murderer was condemned after testimony from multiple witnesses.

Instead of sidestepping a foreign reporter’s question about a state-level issue in Oklahoma, Obama chose to expand the Oklahoma case into a veiled attack on the death penalty.

“We have seen significant problems — racial bias, uneven application of the death penalty, situations in which there were individuals on death row who were later on were discovered to have been innocent … and all these I think do raise significant questions about how the death penalty has been applied,” he claimed in the Rose Garden press conference.

America has never had such a loser as Commander-in-Chief . A President who has had every opportunity to heal racial relations in America. When Obama first took office, Americans were overwhelmingly optimistic about bridging the country’s racial divide. A Gallup poll taken the day after Obama secured the presidency in 2008 showed that 70 percent of Americans believed race relations would improve. But, two years later, these expectations had a stark meeting with reality when only 48 percent of blacks and 31 percent of whites said relations had positively progressed. The more this idiot speaks out on race relations the worse it gets.
Oh, Obama loves to joke especially about republicans who oppose his agenda. I’m glad you can sit and laugh as more information develops about your involvement , cover up and lies that led to four dead Americans in Benghazi. You Mr. President only find it necessary to speak out on race when it involves crimes against black Americans but you’re no where to be found when it is crimes against whites. When statics show the crimes against whites are higher than crimes against blacks. The truth is you along with your democrat loons make a living off racial frenzy.
It’s not funny that you & Hillary Clinton gave $500 million of weapons to Muslim brotherhood. These same weapons were used against our own American people you were sworn to protect. Ambassador Stevens was tortured, raped, cattle prodded and burned, FOR 7 HOURS, while Hillary and Obama ignored his cries. You lied to American people so you could get re-elected. You are a disgrace.

What staggers belief and even imagination is not that the Constitutionally Iineligible Usurper - the Kenyan Konman, the Enemy-Combatant-in-Chief, the Squatter Resident in the White House - would commit treason by arming al Qaeda in Syria and other enemies of America closer to home. That is to be expected - he even tipped his hand and told us as much before he was elected.
