The Big Issue Facing the US Is Bain Capital

Thursday, May 24, 2012 – by Staff Report

    Mitt Romney

It's all about Bain as presidential battle heats up ... Voters are getting mixed messages about whether Mitt Romney was a corporate raider who put profits ahead of jobs or a turnaround artist who truly understands the economy. Expect to hear much more of both arguments Thursday — when President Obama visits Iowa — and in coming weeks. – The Des Moines Register

Dominant Social Theme: Is Romney empathetic or not? This is the issue.

Free-Market Analysis: There are many problems the US is facing. It likely is not a stable country anymore. It is facing in aggregate a debt of some US$ 200 trillion. This is unpayable.

Still, the US staggers on, becoming less free every day. There are probably 100 separate federal intelligence agencies dedicated to spying on foreign or domestic terrorists.

But there is also ample evidence that the war on terror is something of a manufactured one. This means that the myriad agencies are actually mostly aimed at domestic targets.

But the larger question is if the war on terror is manufactured by the powers-that-be, what is the proximate rationale? We answer that on a regular basis: It is part of a larger plan to secure world government.

That's how it seems to us anyway. The power elite that wants to run the world has always targeted the US "exception" because it remains an exception. The US was founded as a republic – and the republican culture remains strong.
It has not been eradicated despite the best efforts of the power elite and what we call the Internet Reformation has only reinforced the US's cultural trends in this regard.

If one accepts that a Western power elite (one funded by the central banks it controls) is attempting with considerable vigor to advance the cause of world government, then the attacks on the US's civil and human liberties make a lot more sense.

There is no doubt the US is being assaulted (along with the West generally) when it comes to freedoms. Homeland Security is a regular and increasingly invasive force. Habeas corpus has basically been suspended and US citizens seem to stand exposed to their own government's will when it comes to a determination as to whether or not they are to be considered terrorists – and subject to summary execution or abduction.

The US government (and NATO) continues to pursue numerous wars in the Middle East and Africa that are bankrupting the US while killing or injuring literally millions. Central banks meanwhile have printed so much money that the West (and increasingly the world) has succumbed to a boom-bust slump that is over a decade long and shows no sign of resolving itself.

None of this has been ameliorated by the political process in the US. In fact, first President George Bush and now President Barack Obama have pursued policies that have evidently and obviously made things worse.

Libertarian Congressman Ron Paul believed in smaller government and wished to trim the welfare and warfare state. But it seems (as of this writing) that the quasi-neocon Mitt Romney will be the presumptive GOP nominee.

Romney seems the quintessential "empty suit" – someone who tailors his responses in whatever manner he needs to based on the audience he is addressing or the goal he deems necessary to fulfill.

Obama has certainly proven to be a similar sort. In fact, this is not surprising given that both are putatively employed by the power elite that has created the policies they endorse.

The policies that are being pursued are driving the US and the West toward an ever-closer global union. But this is not, unfortunately, a dialogue that is pursued within the mainstream press.

If one attempts to tell the truth about what is evidently and obviously a kind of directed history (directed from the top) one is shouted down as a "conspiracy" theorist.

As a result, there is not a broad spectrum of material that can be discussed within a general election. In fact, the narrative grows narrower all the time.

This is the main reason why issues that are seemingly extraneous to the creeping ruin of the republic become major talking points. There's so much that cannot be said that the areas for debate are inevitably constrained.

And thus the US mainstream press ends up with a huge amount of attention being paid to such issues as gay marriage, women's rights and white-on-black prejudice. Inevitably these are all social issues that do not touch on the larger conspiracy for world government.

Another issue that seems to be taking center stage in the current election is Romney's personal character, admittedly suspect in that he once put his dog in a carrier, tied it to the roof of his car and drove cross-country with the poor animal.

And then there was the issue, resurrected from high school, in which he forcibly cut the hair of a classmate because he found it offensive.

And now there is the issue of whether Romney, in his role with the successful financial firm of Bain Capital was a kind of neo-robber baron.

These are all "personality driven" items intended to contrast "cool" Obama with an exploitative Republican challenger.

In fact, a series of dominant social themes – promotions – are springing up around this campaign. These memes are surely being encouraged and supported by a larger power elite that wants the dialogue to focus on such personal metrics as much as possible.

In reality, it doesn't much matter what Romney's character is. If elected, he'll pursue the same policies as Obama and Bush. They will not be his policies but the policies of the elite.

Enjoy the show. Unfortunately, that's all it is. But also be aware, in this era of the Internet Reformation, that there are deeper forces at work.

The farther away the democratic process gets from making a credible difference in people's lives, the more these other forces come into play. They are not democratic ones and the powers-that-be are surely aware of their possibility.

Conclusion: Homeland Security just purchased hundreds of millions of hollow point bullets. Coincidence?

    Obama’s Lies To American Youths

    May 24, 2012 by
    Sam Rolley

    UPI
Has President Obama turned his back on the promises he made to America's youths?

In 2008, Barack Obama proved that he is really good at one thing in particular: preying on the Generation Y crowd.

With the promise of “Hope” and “Change,” celebrity friends, a good Internet campaign presence, an overall campaign presence that just felt so very underdog — so grassroots — and an aura of rolled-up-sleeve-sunglass-wearing-antithesis-of-politician coolness, Obama was able to gain favor with about 66 percent of the coveted 18-year-old to 29-year-old voter bloc.

Aside from the campaign image, Obama made some promises to America’s youths: more jobs for recent college graduates and young people, an end to perpetual war and a new look at the War on Drugs.

Unfortunately for the President, he has failed to deliver on any of these promises in his nearly four years in the White House.

For those concerned about getting a good job out of college, there are some telling statistics:

    • One in two college graduates under the age of 25 is unemployed or underemployed.
    • The unemployment rate for 20-year-olds to 24-year-olds has jumped to 13.2 percent from 12.4 percent since Obama took office.

Overall, only 54.3 percent of Americans aged 18-24 are employed; that is the lowest number since 1948 when employment numbers were first tallied.

Perhaps when Obama promised that his Administration would expand employment opportunities for youths, he wasn’t talking about American youths. A recent report by The Washington Post illustrates that the Obama Administration is going to great lengths to make sure fun, safe and paying summer jobs are available — to about 100,000 foreign student workers who will visit this summer on visas.

The article explains that on May 11 the State Department “issued rules that ban foreign students from jobs that could be harmful, limited them to light, seasonal occupations that are not likely to displace U.S. workers and required closer scrutiny of their conditions.” Certainly, by Obama’s logic, none of those18-year-old to 24-year-old Americans who are unemployed would like to work as a pool cleaner or a lifeguard this summer. Besides, they should be taking summer classes in an attempt to see how close they can get their student loan debt to six figures.

The President has not done so well with regard to helping American youths find gainful employment, but surely he has gained some favor among the bunch with his foreign policy prowess. Though the warmongering, profiteering, neocon antics of the George W. Bush Administration should have been an easy act for a peace-promising President to follow, Obama simply doubled down on war.

The President promised to end the war in Iraq within 16 months. He didn’t. Obama did, however, manage to authorize a surge in Afghanistan, lob thousands of missiles at Libya in a “humanitarian” action in coordination with NATO, and announce that he is sending 100 special operation personnel to Uganda as “advisers.” His Administration covertly involved the United States in supporting the “Arab Spring” in Egypt, Libya and Syria. The President also learned that targeting enemies with secret drone strikes was met with less chagrin from the general public. So the drone has become his “big stick” — which, by the way, is also a weapon that he doesn’t mind using to assassinate American citizens. And thanks to his partnership with neocons in passing the 2012 National Defense Authorization Act, he can now even target citizens on U.S. soil or detain them indefinitely.

Lies from the President of the United States are not funny; but if one had to be, it would be Obama’s drug policy hypocrisy. It holds as a pretty fundamental truth that members of the 18-29 demographic largely adhere to a libertarian view with regard to the War on Drugs: End it. That’s why when a Presidential candidate writes in his memoir Dreams From My Father that he once experimented with various illegal substances, they appreciate his honesty.

Obama writes, “I blew a few smoke rings, remembering those years. Pot had helped, and booze; maybe a little blow when you could afford it… Junkie. Pothead. That’s where I’d been headed; the final fatal role of the would-be black man. Except the highs hadn’t been about that, me trying to prove what a down brother I was. Not by then, anyway. I got high for just the opposite effect, something that could push questions of who I was out of my mind. Something that could flatten out the landscape of my heart, blur the edges of my memory.”

Obama promised to allow the legality of medical marijuana to be an issue decided by the States; but once he was elected, his Administration began a brutal crackdown on medical marijuana. Maybe his memory just got a little blurred around the edges and he forgot what he said he would do.

Ethan Nadelmann, executive director of the Drug Policy Alliance, explains the President’s drug policy as follows: “The Obama administration’s latest moves strongly suggest that their medical marijuana policies are now being driven by overzealous prosecutors and the anti-marijuana ideologues who dominated policymaking in past administrations. Barack Obama is betraying promises made when he ran for president and turning his back on the sensible policies announced during his first year in office. Instead of encouraging state and local authorities to regulate medical marijuana distribution in the interests of public safety and health, his administration seems determined to recriminalize as much as possible. It all adds up to bad policy, bad politics and bad faith.”

If you can stand the profanity, comedian Penn Jillette summed up nicely earlier this week how Obama’s hypocrisy with regard to medical marijuana is ridiculous:

The President told young voters many more lies when he was trying to get their vote in the last Presidential election, there are surely many more to come. Obama’s most recent fairy tale to his young constituents involves promising them a lower interest rate on Federal student loans. Of course, he could be lying.

Breitbart reports, “College students are being played for suckers by the Democratic Party again. Barack Obama’s 2013 budget indicates that the interest rate on federally backed student loans student loan will jump from 3.4 percent to 6.8 percent in the summer of 2013. This comes as Obama is preaching his love for college students on campuses by virtue of his agreeing with the Republicans to limit the rate to 3.4 percent. The doubling of the rate will only occur eight months after Obama’s reelection can be attained.”

All of this makes one wonder if the Obama Administration can sell “Hope” and “Change” now that young Americans know what the terms look like in practice. If not, Obama has a new one liner: “Forward.” Hopefully, this time American youths will look for meaning in the word before the election.

So now that the chairman and vice chairman of the Clark County Republican Party have quit to join the establishment "Team Nevada," can we officially classify the Nevada GOP as a bona fide third party?

Poor state Chairman Michael McDonald is virtually the only non-Ron Paul supporter left in the state Republican hierarchy, gamely trying to keep the factions together so as to support the party's central mission: registering Republicans, getting them to the polls and electing GOP candidates.

But as now ex-Clark County GOP Chairman David Gibbs and Vice Chairman Woody Stroupe will tell you, the new Republican Party in the Silver State doesn't just want to elect Republicans. It wants to elect the right Republicans. Pun totally intended.

"People are waking up," says Cindy Lake, who was voted interim chairwoman after Gibbs left. "You don't have to go along to get along."

Indeed, what does it profit a party, though it gain the Senate and White House, but lose its soul? It's a question Paul supporters have been asking for decades, since before their man ran for president for the first time in 1988 as the standard-bearer of the Libertarian Party. If you elect Republicans who compromise conservative fiscal principles, government still grows, albeit at a slower rate. And that's not something Paul Republicans will tolerate any longer.

"We're hoping that they will get the message that they're our elected officials and we're going to hold them accountable," Lake says. "We want to re-establish the Republican brand and have it mean something."

That sentiment might give elected Republicans in Nevada some pause. U.S. Sen. Dean Heller describes himself as a "small-government, low-tax, reasonable-regulation conservative." Rep. Joe Heck is by no means a liberal. And Gov. Brian Sandoval, despite his embrace of extending taxes that were supposed to be temporary, is nobody's progressive.

But will the Paul Republicans see a difference between electing Heller or Rep. Shelley Berkley? Between Heck or Assembly Speaker John Oceguera? Would any of these people have voted against going to war in Iraq? Would they vote to bring all troops home now, and eschew future wars? Would any of them vote to end the Federal Reserve system or radically change current fiscal policy? Would any support legalizing marijuana, or ending the war on drugs?

It's totally understandable why Paul people look scornfully at modern politics the way the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise looks at the virtual, computer-run war between the Eminiarians and the Vendikarians in the classic Star Trek episode "A Taste of Armageddon." Computers launched attacks and calculated the numbers of the dead, and "casualties" would dutifully report to disintegration chambers to die in a bloodless, destruction-free conflict.

Well, Paul's followers are not walking into the disintegration chambers any more. They've taken over for real, and are using the party's machinery to wage actual war, not just on the Democrats, but also on fellow Republicans who are not committed to the principles of fiscal conservatism as defined by Paul and his backers. It's an ironic turnaround for the Paul types, who for years have been considered the outsiders but are now running things.

Meanwhile, mainstream Republicans look at the Paul people the way regular folk regard attendees at a Star Trek convention: Obsessed with a fictional world, unable to relate to the wider reality. That's why Team Nevada has been created, as an alternative to a state and county GOP run for the first time by people outside the establishment.

"We're the Republican Party," Lake insists. "Team Nevada is a six-month operation."

But it's a necessary one for mainstream Republicans who value winning races more highly than faithfulness to principle. Which makes Nevada's newly conquered Republican Party its most recent third party.

Ron Paul Builds Momentum in South Dakota

    May 27, 2012
    in Election, Politics, Primaries
    By Ken Derby

While he has scaled back operations, essentially conceding the Republican presidential nomination to former Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts, U.S. Rep. Ron Paul of Texas still has an upcoming primary state that he can build in — South Dakota.

Paul announced earlier in the month that he would focus his campaign’s efforts on picking up delegates through the state convention process instead of focusing on upcoming primaries. But his supporters continue their enthusiasm for Paul in South Dakota which holds its primary on June 5. Four other states — California, Montana, New Jersey and New Mexico — also hold primaries on that date. South Dakota will have 28 delegates when the Republicans hold their convention in Tampa come August.

Despite Paul saying he would not focus on upcoming contests, supporters continue to flock to his banner. Over the weekend, Paul was endorsed by Rep. Jon Hansen, R-Dell Rapids, the youngest member of the South Dakota Legislature.

“Ron Paul’s consistency and integrity goes unmatched in today’s political environment,” Hansen said. “As a state representative in South Dakota, I know Ron Paul understands the proper role of the federal government, and will restore the proper constitutional balance of power between Washington, the states, and the people.

Ron Paul - Here's The Plan For Victory In Tampa

    Submitted by Patriot Press_U... on Sun, 05/27/2012 - 12:37
    Daily Paul Liberty Forum

    By Richard Gilbert @USA_Free_Press

Passionate supporters, against all odds, are carrying Ron Paul, State by State, towards Tampa with a longshot belief that they can do what has not been done since the founding fathers penned their names to two documents that will forever live.

In the name of Liberty, The Constitution of The United States, and The Declaration of Independence, well meaning, highly enthusiastic Ron Paul supporters have already achieved impossible dreams at State Conventions.

These Patriots have raised the bar so high that they believe that if only they can convince delegates that they have the right to vote their conscience at the Republican National Convention in Tampa the delegates will unveil their stealth support for Ron Paul & the nomination will be theirs.

Under the radar some in the news media, others in political intelligencia have discovered a modern marvel of americana-Ron Paul supporters are right.

Ron Paul supporters have unleashed a powerful force, the most powerful force since the times of the founding fathers.

The chances for victory are as tenuous as the chances for success in the War for Independence against the mightiest military establishment on earth.
The delegates are under immense pressure from State Party forces to make them believe that they are subject to criminal penalties if they fail to vote, as committed, for whom they are told. Romney is gathering signed declarations of commitment from these delegates with reminders that they are bound by law.

Law,imagine that. Romney commits Felony crimes in pursuit of the nomination with fake delegate slates, bribes, and worse, yet, Romney is now reminding delegates of their legal obligations to vote for him.

Ron Paul delegates are savvy and artful. Videos appear, arguments spread across the social media, plans are made for Veterans for Ron Paul to demonstrate at the convention.

These efforts are successful in making so-called committed delegates want to vote for Ron Paul if only they could. These efforts cannot overcome a delegate's belief they will be criminally prosecuted if they vote their conscience.

Under the powerful spell cast by Romney that the delegates can be criminally prosecuted if they even attempt to vote for another candidate all creative efforts by Ron Paul supporters will fail except one.

With a hard copy of a Federal Court Order in their hands telling delegates they are free to vote their conscience without fear of any criminal penalty on the first ballot, then, and only then, will the unforseen nomination of Ron Paul happen.

Do you believe in miracles? It will not be easy. Contrary to some news reports Rule 38, The Unit Rule, cited as the key permitting delegates to vote their conscience, is not clear and free from ambiguity. Rule 38 contains a contradiction that could be pursausive in court to deny victory. there is language that suggests State Rules must be complied with. There is contrary language that suggests delegates are not bound. There is historical precedent that supports delegates are not bound. In 2008 a McCain delegate voted for Romney on the first ballot and the RNC counted the vote. There is more such precedent in our favor as well.

There is also a Legal Memorandum from RNC legal counsel that supports our legal position, but, a memorandum is not sufficient in court.

Especially given that we have a GOP Chairman who refused to remain neautral, the interpretation of the Unit Rule is perilous territory.

There will be risks in filing a Federal Court case seeking an Order that Ron Paul delegates be seated and that all delegates are free to vote their conscience on all ballots.

There were risks everyday in the War for Independence against that establishment army.

This much is certain, If we do not seek a Federal Court Order there is no chance to win. Ron Paul himself speaks of merely influencing the party at Tampa. His campaign manager has given permission for the party to raise funds for Romney.

Are you in it to win it? We have a chance to win this Federal case. There is no time to waste.

Each of us must find our own inspiration to continue to believe what most declare the impossible. I have my inspiration. God took a lot of extra time creating this inspiration.

The impossible, would you really want it any other way?

Romney - Neocons Cheer For War

Submitted by HonorGod on Sun, 05/27/2012 - 12:55
    Peace / War

    Neocons cheer for war

    Powell on the Neocon Advisors:

Many of these advisors belonged to the PNAC, an influential neoconservative advocacy group founded in the ‘90’s. It has morphed into the Foreign Policy Initiative (FPI) launched by Kagan, Edelman and Senor. They advocate for regime change in Iran and a more confrontational stance with Russia. They are opposed to cuts in military spending.

Berman’s article goes on to quote Merrill Goozner, who wrote in the Fiscal Times “Romney’s plan to increase military spending coupled with tax cuts would require shrinking domestic spending to levels not seen since the Great Depression-before programs like Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid began and would likely throw the US economy back into recession.”

“How do you get out of this state of interminable war?” asks Lawrence Wilkerson former chief of staff to Colin Powell. Certainly not with Mitt Romney and his foreign policy advisors advocating for more war
