Four Alabama counties need to do some major work on their voter registration lists.
In Lowndes, Greene, Macon and Wilcox Counties, the numbers of active voters are actually higher than the numbers of adults who reside there:
Additionally, in eight counties there are more registered voters than adults:
There are a lot of factors at play with these numbers, such as under-reporting by the Census and duplicate registrations at public assistance offices, which are required to offer enrollees the chance to sign up to vote. If someone registers more than once with a different name spelling or date of birth, it often slips by unnoticed.
These discrepancies, which are not limited to Alabama but are common throughout the country, create ample opportunity for voter fraud, especially in states that do not require voters to show identification.
Fortunately, Alabama recently passed a voter ID law, and as that law goes into effect this year, it is very likely that we’ll see the above numbers improve.

Hmmm: Washington state introduces voter registration through Facebook

Am I the only one slightly worried by the latest innovation in online voter registration being pushed in Washington state?

Facebook users in Washington state will have something else to brag about to their online friends: that they registered to vote on Facebook.
The secretary of state’s office said Tuesday it will have an application on its Facebook page that allows residents to register to vote and then “like” the application and recommend it to their friends. It’s expected to launch as early as next week.
“In this age of social media and more people going online for services, this is a natural way to introduce people to online registration and leverage the power of friends on Facebook to get more people registered,” said Shane Hamlin, co-director of elections.
Washington state has had online registration since 2008, and since then, there have been 475,000 registrations or changes of address processed through the system. Washington is one of more than a dozen states that offer online registration.
Hamlin said Washington state is the first to offer voter registration via Facebook.

Joe Biden can jump; Plus, voter ID laws are ‘hatred’

At least Biden didn’t say voter ID laws are going to “put y’all back in chains.” Close, but not quite:

Vice President Joe Biden used remarks at a reception he hosted in honor of African-American History Month to swing hard at the “malarkey” of voting right restrictions around the country — specifically, citing voter ID laws in North Carolina, Alabama and Texas as offenders.
As he’s done before, Biden linked the voting rights fight now to the civil rights movement of the 1960s, calling the people trying to restrict voting now the intellectual descendants of those who beat the movement’s leaders in Selma 50 years ago.
He called the dismantling of Jim Crow laws and other expansions of voting among the the most important legacies of the civil rights movement.
“Without the right to vote, nothing else much mattered,” he said.
But things have changed only so much, he said, expressing disappointment.
“The zealotry of those who wish to limit the franchise cannot be smothered by reason,” he said.

Perfect. If you’re looking for somebody who can’t smother anything with reason, Joe Biden’s your man.
What are the odds that people attending Biden’s reception had to present a photo ID in order to get in? Pretty good I’d say. What’s with the hatred, Joe?
Biden left something out for obvious reasons:

He also failed to note that Jim Crow laws were Democrat laws, and the people attempting to block the civil rights law were mostly Democrats.

But Biden didn’t fail to pander like crazy:

The Veep laid down a serious on-court challenge to boss Barack Obama during a Black History Month reception.
“I told the president, next game, I’ve got him,” he said to Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson – a former NBA star.
“I may be a white boy, but I can jump,” he added, suggesting that he and Johnson team up to take on the POTUS.

A good laugh was had by all, even though everybody knows Biden couldn’t dunk a donut into a cup of coffee without tipping it over, knocking a candle onto the floor and burning the building down.
