I knew he was going to make that same tired argument--- A "guest-worker program" will take pressure off the Border so that the Border Patrol can catch terrorists and drug smugglers.

So, in order to secure the Border we have to make the Border wide open --- with unlimited "guest-workers" ---- any and all 'immigrants' will be handed a "guest-worker" card -- swamping the daylights out of American communities. Let's see how the DHS handles processing and tracking the flood of "guest-workers". "guest-workers" who won't leave when their time is up.

Comprehensive immigration reform is about making up a law that does away with any sense of having immigration law restrictions or hence a Border altogether. We know this..... the promise of enforcement in this bill will come slow, troubled, hardly at all taking a long time--- but amnesty will be instant, hordes of "guest-workers" entering will take days, weeks ---it will be a disaster of untold proportions.

and don't forget the full range of benefits included in legislation S.2611 illegal Aliens will get when they get amnesty - Social Security benefits (which really destroys any talk by Bush tonight about securing Social Security future), in-state tuition, tax exempt, earned income tax credits for their large families, on and on...

Why is the Border such a problem and we "need" immigration reform because it is designed to fail along with the President's deliberate actions such as hiring just 200 Border Patrol Agents, telling them to stand down - not funding enforcement,etc....Nothing still has been done on the Border since 1999.

Bush wants to redefine amnesty as being just the action of not giving automatic Citizenship. BUT any action that moves illegal Aliens to a legal status calling them "guest-workers", legal residents, (whatever) IS an amnesty reward because it removes them from under the law of their multiple felony crimes. Illegal Aliens should not get an amnesty. Amnesty continues the cycle of failure. A amnesty is the act of giving Mexico success its invasion tactic ---- whether the illegal Alien has been illegal since 1996 or 2006 --- their intrusion has paid off. This is why illegal Aliens must be forced to leave or go. Amnesty keeps mexico in a state of corrupt irresponsibility --- thieving, drugging the U.S.

Illegal Aliens could care less about getting American citizenship or speaking English for that matter. What they do care about is not being enforced against so they can continue their running all over thieving and pillaging ---- so they just want to be left alone and an amnesty will do that.

SAME false promises as 1986,1996 ----amnesty with enforcement that will never be done.. IT is a complete lie

    Health care Crisis??

I happened to have worked for 30 years for a business that has afforded me a very good insurance plan now that I am retired. Now, he wants to take that away from me so "others" who are not insured can get some insurance. Well, we all know who the "others" are.
We wouldn't have the health care crisis in this country that we currently have if President Bush and his cronies would just enforce the immigration laws that are already on the books, step aside and let ICE and all law enforcement entities in this country do their job!!
I have no problem helping out American citizens, but I refuse to give up what I worked long and hard for for people who come here illegally, squirt kids out by the truck load, commit fraud, lie, cheat and steal American citizens's identities to work here illegally and then have the audacity to march in our streets and demand more!!
DEPORTATION is the answer to our health care crisis and the over budget spending of the Federal Government. We can't keep funding ignorance, non-assimilation and a resistance to learning the language of this country.
If we quit printing everything in Spanish and other languages, that would cut a whole lot of non-essential spending.[/b]

    State of The Union

I'm a supporter who lives in Arizona, I support this org morally and with my financial resources to the best of my ability. I just joined the forum tonight.

My thoughts on the President's speech tonight are very simple. He still doesn't get it - or doesn't want to get it. He lost the House last November because people were trying to send a message. Many believe the message was about the war in Iraq but I believe that is an over-simplification.

Many of us are totally disappointed and disgusted with his failure to secure the border and stem the illegal invasion. This failure has created profound cognitive dissonance in his loyal, patriotic supporters because his rhetoric about the war on terror is in diametric opposition to his border policies. They do not compute with national security. His ratings are low because people are not easily fooled for long - and it isn't just about 'the war'. There is an old Chinese proverb that goes: 'You may not believe what a man says, but you will believe what he does.' I would add that you will also believe what he fails to do.

Most American want secure borders. We do not want amnesty for the infiltrators and law breakers and will not tolerate it in any form - regardless of euphemistic terminology.

We also are not buying his 'Totalization' proposal. Why in Heaven's name would we want to provide Social Security benefits to persons who haven't been paying into the system as diligently as the hard-working, legal Americans have? The system is not solvent and this proposal is lunacy.

All of his mis-guided policies add up to a global capitalist agenda. One has only to connect the dots. He has not been forthcoming about this agenda but his actions belie his philosophy. He consistently underestimates the intelligence of the American people.

I would love to ask him a question. Mr. President, are there global pressures that you think we are unaware of that have coerced you into this globalist thinking? Does it have to do with the fact that our economy is on a precipice due to our national debt and trade deficit? Does the fact that China, Venezuela, and Iran, et al, are threatening to call our 'markers' and move into Euros or gold, thereby threatening the value of the dollar and the economic well-being of our nation? Is that where this philosophy of yours is coming from, this Faustian Bargain? If so, you seriously underestimate us. You underestimate the blood of our forefathers that runs through our veins - that we have the ability to rise to any threat and to prevail, if we only stand together as Americans and remain United. Selling out to fear has never been an option for this country. Please do not take us there now.

Mr. Bush will be a totally impotent president and will accomplish nothing in the remainder of his presidency if he does not heed the message sent by 85% of the population about border security. That demographic represents Republicans, Democrats, and Independents.

We want security and we want to preserve our sovereignty, our culture, our national identity. The survival of our nation is at stake - including the welfare of the rest of the world. As goes America - so goes the rest of the world.

Well, you were right and I cringed while home sick from my job teaching English as a second language to adult immigrants. Wow, I can't believe he stubbornly refuses to stop the invasion. It's crazy! The part that got to me the most was the comment about immigrants assimilating- where has he been? The majority of my Mexican students don't show any sign of assimilating! They draw Mexican flags on their classwork, and one guy said the other night that he was going to join a militant Mexican group. I'm a Democrat and I almost lost it!

What happened to respecting one's host? The behavior is rude at least and dangerous at worst. What was it I heard about Iraqis crossing the US/Mexico border? I have one Mexican student who demonstrates really good Arabic pronunciation when describing news items. When I asked where he'd learned to pronounce Arabic words he didn't give me an answer (the "h" is distinctive). Hmmmmmm.....

Meredith, that is really scary. This alone is more than enough of a reason to secure our borders and immediately round up and deport anyone not here legally, with verifiable documents.

Maybe you should be talking with your local FBI. I know it sounds a little over the edge, but you never know. My best friend lives on the side of Portland where there is a major mosque, her husband used to work at a gas station (between jobs) and worked nights. This old house next to the station was owned by the members of the mosque. One night close to closing (about 11pm) he saw a few vehicles full of the men come into the driveway, get out and start unloading gun bags.

Now of course he did not know if they actually had guns in them ,but having been in the Marines as a gun specialist, he knew what they looked like. Alarmed, he spoke with a man they know from church who works for the local FBI.

This was in 1998. In 2001/2002, there was a huge FBI raid on a complex housing those seven (the Portland seven!), right down the road from where they live (same neighborhood).

Meredith, go with your gut instinct, talk to someone. It is not being paranoid to tell someone you feel something is not right. This also will prove the point that we must have those borders secured, and all foreign illegals out.

    Illegal Immigration

Don't be fooled, they're all in it for the money. They will rape this country for all they can get and cast it aside as soon as they start to loose money. This act of not securing our borders is an act of treason. Those responsible should be hung!

Did anyone else think it was wierd that Bush kept saying "all it's citizens" when he was talking about giving more money to governors for healthcare? That must be money for Arnold to take care of the illegals - who are NOT citizens.

The President mentioned that we need to "Resolve the status of illegal immigrants already in this country".There was no mention of the words that we need to "find and deport illegal immigrants".Anytime I hear the words "comprehensive immigration reform" I immediately think of "amnesty".

I'm convinced that the President and most of the Congress is determined to make citizens of as many illegals as possible and no doubt a lot of their time is spent in thought as to how to bring "a pathway to citizenship" for illegals into being without actually calling it an amnesty.

Calling for a guess worker plan while 12-30 million illegal "guess workers" are already here is like calling the fire dept. after the house had burned down.

To "resolve the status of illegals" can mean only one thing to the Administration and the rest of the open borders crowd.

    Amnesty.

That's their goal, has always been their goal, and will always been their goal.We need to keep working hard to make sure amnesty doesn't happen.

The only thing I could think of while watching, was, they all are phony!

They sit there in their expensive clothing, trained as though they had been to acting school....it's all about them!!

I don't think "lowly" American citizens can get through to people who are so shallow.
Do not vote for Party this year, vote for America and American workers!
