Have to thank NC for finally joining in the list of states to oppose Real ID.
It's way past time that our country was singing off the same sheet of music on the driver's license issue. IMO, a national minimum standard for the issuance of driver's licenses is needed and necessary.
The group North Carolinians Against Real ID do not represent all the people of North Carolina, and they certainly don't speak for our elected representatives in the North Carolina General Assembly! North Carolinians Against Real ID is nothing more than another special interest group protesting something they disagree with."The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing" ** Edmund Burke**

MW, you dont read much do you? Oh well. Dont worry about it.
About North Carolinians Against Real ID
North Carolinians Against Real ID is a grassroots effort by We the People of North Carolina to stop the Real ID. We are comprised from all walks of life. Many members are proud U.S. Veterans. Others are grandparents, mothers, fathers, members of the clergy, business owners and so on.
Our Plan is a simple one. We will contact and educate every one of our Legislators until they understand the costs and privacy concerns when it comes to the Real ID. Furthermore, once we have educated them, we want legislation passed to stop all compliance of the Real ID Act and any databases that include biometric and other personal data required by the Real ID Act to be removed.
We want a secure driver's license, but creating a national id card is not the answer. Many states were already in the process of securing their drivers licenses before the Real ID was voted into law as part of a massive military spending bill.

NC will be issuing secure driver's licenses"We have decided man doesn't need a backbone any more; to have one is old-fashioned. Someday we're going to slip it back on." - William Faulkner

RealID is not necessary...just enforce the laws on the books.
We have passport requirements for foreigners, and visas as well. They don't have 'em or are expired? Deport 'em as any sane country would do.
Control the border...ID theft will drop like a penny in an empty oil barrel.
No need for another new set of laws...that do nothing but create a new whole new private and bureacratic industry justifying jobs for 10s of thousands of paper-pushers nation wide.
Just enforce existing law.
Notice that when filling out form establishing elgilibity for employment the types are numerous:
State Issued ID
State Issued Driver's License
Military ID
Applicable Visa Based ID
SSI Card
...and more...
Lots of sources to use for cross checking...
Again, RealID is not necessary...and personally is an insult to us Americans and the Constitution.
Force the aliens, guests, and visa holders to prove who they are - NOT US!
=Not serious about illegals, outsourcing and insourcing? Wait until magicians pull illegals out of their hats...

All systems can be compromised and abused, unfortunately. There is too much money to be made for people by going after our personal data. More unfortunate is that our government is helping these thieves with the idea/design of the REAL ID."We have decided man doesn't need a backbone any more; to have one is old-fashioned. You are correct there is no such thing as a secure database.
The Real ID is going to very very lucrative for companies Like Vasage and others, I guess that would explain why they were pushing for it. Our information will be exploited and the illegals will have access to even more identities to steal.I stay current on Americans for Legal Immigration PAC's fight to Secure Our Border and Send Illegals Home via E-mail Alerts (CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP)
