Thank you for taking the time to send me your thoughts on immigration reform. As a Member of Congress, many people try to catch my ear every day, but no voice speaks to me more loudly than that of my constituents.


There’s no question that immigration is one of the most important issues that we in Congress must address. I firmly believe that our current system is broken, and that Congress needs to overhaul our immigration system. As Congress considers immigration reform, I will make my decisions based on the following principles:


Border Security Must Be Tightened. We need to make absolutely sure that we know who and what is coming into this country. The current, loose status of the border is threatening to many American citizens. We must do a better job of securing our borders.

American Jobs Must Be Protected. I am committed to protecting the high standard of living that American workers enjoy. I will not favor any plan that jeopardizes the jobs of workers in the Sixth District of Ohio.

No Amnesty. I do not believe that we ought to reward people who crossed into this country illegally.


Again, I thank you for sharing your views with me. I will carefully consider them as Congress moves forward with this issue.
