    Gogo:

SSTA - Soc. Sec Totalization Agreement.

It is an agreement - not a treaty - with Mexico, that provides Soc Sec. for Mexican workers here (illegal ? vs. legal?) and some of their dependents.

There are about 20 other Totalization agreements already in place or in effect. These are largely bilateral agreements with countries mostly in Europe, but others like Australia, New Zealand, Canada, etc.

    UPDATE / RECAP:

    More deliberations about Labor/HHS bill.

Sen Byrd speaking now (4:26pm PT)

Still no explicit mention of DREAM Act today on senate floor.
    Vote is expected tomorrow sometime.

Two notable amendments offered by Sen Ensign (R-NV) that deal with US-Mexico SSTA (Soc. Sec. Totalization Agreement) as well as one that deals with Soc. Sec. benefits to illegal workers (will not be allowed under amendment). Both passed by majority votes of 90+ Yeas in both cases.

(will not be allowed under amendment) means that SS can't do it right. Not that the senate won't allow it. I'm tired sorry.

    5:02pm PT.

They just voted on and passed the Labor/HHS bill. ...off to conference, and then the President for signature...

Now, going to proceed into Executive session to deal with nomination of Judge Southwick to Federal Court position (I don't know which).

....Get ready folks, after this, yep, it looks like the DA will be up - if, all things go as expected. I don't know if they intend on dealing with it tonight, or first thing tomorrow. But, my hunch is they'll quit for the day here pretty quick, and try first thing tomorrow.

With the Senate, someone has to be there to object to motions. If someone brings something up, someone has to object.

I know I'm tired and want to go to bed!
