I posted this in the action thread, but I'll post this here too so everyone sees. This is the latest update from USA Today. Bottom line, close vote predicted, and the OBL is using sympathy and threats to try to get their way. If we don't win this, AgJOBS Amnesty is next. CALL, CALL, CALL !

Update at 12:35 p.m. ET: Kiely is on a conference call with Sen. Dick Durbin. She says the Illinois Democrat is predicting a close vote tomorrow, when he needs 60 votes for debate to proceed.

"We have commitments from about 8 Republicans … we have three or four Democrats who are not in our column at this point. When you do the math you see that puts us somewhere in the mid-50s," he says.

Durbin is hoping to build support overnight. Given the angry response that brought down the comprehensive immigration bill earlier this year, Durbin acknowledges that "it is not the best time to bring it up but I felt a special obligation to try. "

Reg Weaver, president of the 3.2 million-member National Education Association, warned there could be political consequences for lawmakers who oppose the measure. "We will be watching upcoming votes on the DREAM Act very very carefully," he said.

Senate about to return from recess 11:17am PT CSpan2 coverage is back to video of the senate).

To resume with votes an Amendments to Labor/HHS bill, followed by a final vote on the bill itself.

Sen Frankenstein (Feinstein) now speaking about fires in CA 11:25am PT.

Bingaman speaking about amendments to Labor/HHS bill.

Now, Webb speaking in morning business about Marines killed in Lebanon in 1983.

11:52am PT.

Again, no action on DREAM Act today so far, but it is expected it will be brought up and debated (?) - with a vote likely to be tomorrow.

We need 41 votes to stave off a successful cloture vote.

Keep calling please - I am too! (So far, pretty typical responses. A lot of snotty staffers, but that's to be expected...).

I'm going to post a sorted list that Populist offered earlier I *think*, in this thread (below). For those at work today, or, if you have limited time to dedicated to the task, I sorted them into highest priority to lowest priority order. Just work down through the list and that'll probably have the best overall impact.
