    Exhaustion

I impulsively wrote this post last week and have since apologized for it. My temporary white flag waving in the battle against illegal immigration was just a sign of my mental exhaustion.

So below is my post, and if any of you ever feel as I did when I wrote it, just know that the good people of ALIPAC will not tar and feather you for your moment of weakness; instead, they'll understand your frustration and help you to get your mojo back.

So now I feel that it's time to face my fears pertaining to the massive immigration of Mexicans to the U.S. and start focusing on how to live with the huge changes we will all be facing as the illegals are granted amnesty and the Mexican/U.S. bridges and roads are built.

I know you probably see me as a quitter, but I see myself as more of a realist. I'm tired of trying to fight the unbeatable. I just want to get on with my life and deal with the changes one day at a time. I believe I get one shot at life, and I don't want to waste another day fighting a war I cannot win. I need to spend my time adjusting and trying to create the best, highest-quality life I can, even it if means being a minority in, and speaking the second language of, my own country.

So I want to extend to all of you my heartfelt best wishes. This was a great place for me to take refuge and commiserate with like-minded friends. But, surprisingly, this forum has also served as a dose of reality for me. I've learned a lot here, and I'll carry it with me as I feel my away around this new United States. It won't be easy, but then nothing ever is, right?

My best to all of you.

    Laura:

Don't quit. Please don't quit. You can't give up. Keep fighting as long as you can!!!!!!

You can always quit later - much later!!!!!!!

If you've never watched it , there is a movie (supposedly for children) called The Neverending Story.

Watch it -- see what happens to the hero in the "Swamp of Despair".

    Please rethink your position.

I hate to sound harsh. However I see you as a quitter, not a realist.

Reality is Americans have faced a lot worse and not thrown in the towel. If everyone had this attitude we wouldnt be Americans at all. We might just be part of England still today. Maybe even Hitler would of made his world dominance.

This battle is not going to be won over night. Its going to be tough and long. The day I give up my red/white/blue so freely is when I am black/blue and 6 foot under. Im sorry to whomever that offends but that is my belief. I am a "AMERICAN"...........

Again I am sorry to I offended......However this issue I feel that strongly about.

WHat is that line about the rights most easily lost are those we are not willing to fight for?

Life is full of options; No one ever said you need to take this on as a full time job. Just do what you can. If you can only send one letter to your rep a week that’s one letter that would not have been sent otherwise. If you get to emotional over the boards then come back and visit once in awhile. Take breaks but quitting is never an option. I could not quit if I saw a child drowning, I would have to jump in and do my best. I hope you will rethink your decision.

Maybe it's just me Americangirl, but I think it would have been much more appropriate, not to mention respectful to other ALIPAC members, to have sent a few PM's...rather than starting a thread, in a public forum, announcing your decision to give up and give in.

While our opposition will certainly celebrate your "goodbye thread", as a member of a group that HAS made a difference, and will CONTINUE to make a difference, I view it as a slap in the face.

    Sincerely,

    Polly

    Americangirl,

Please don't quit!! this is exactly what our leaders are hoping for. If everyone quits, we will never win.
Nothing in life worth having is ever easy to acheive.

I have two jobs, and each morning I go into my first job 30 minutes early so I can continue to blast fax our leaders, respond to action items, etc.

You can do it, don't give up! If you give up, the illegals have already won.

Same here. Then I finally get the nerve to venture out and I'm slammed with the reality of this at every turn and I get pissed all over again and can't quit. Maybe I'm too old, too stubborn and just can't stand back and let this happen. There's times I'm not the brightest bulb in the box. There's times I beat a dead horse. But I know inside when I've done all I can do and I can look back with no regrets knowing I did everything I could. That horse will be dead and I won't be wondering if it was or not. Everyone has a different point where that understanding sets in and for now, like many have already expressed, this fight has just begun. No one said it would be easy.......and maybe you are in need of a break.....only you has that answer. Just know we're here if you get to a point and realize it was just a much needed break or if you just want to share some news. So....how about a "see ya later" instead of "good-bye"?
