They're not only nuts, they are SERIOUSLY NUTS.

Notice there is no press (MSM or Internet) on this? Does anyone know a writer who we can pass this info to? Maybe a blogger?

from this sight and from some posts in here. i cut and pasted some stuff to my reps and added a little more.. it goes like this

Dear [recipient name was inserted here],

Please do not support the Hope Fund Act of 2007 (H.R. 1999) which was
introduced by Rep. Ruben Hinojosa (D-TX). H.R. 1999 would allot $5 million
in Fiscal Year 2008, and $10 million each year thereafter, to the National
Council of La Raza - a of lost dollars for the city.

I do not wish for my tax money to be going to a RACIST ANTI-AMIERCAN HATE
GROUP LIKE LARAZA, which translated means "the race" if your not hispanic,
you cant join. that is racism to its extreme. It is past time for all
Americans to know the roots of the "La Raza" movement as well as the
extent to which our nation is at risk because of this organization that
    calls itself "The Race."

Many immigrant groups comprise the overall "La Raza" movement. The most
prominent is the National Council de La Raza (NCLR). To the mainstream
media and most members of Congress, the NCLR appears to be nothing more
than an Hispanic Rotary Club. Nothing could be further from the truth. The
NCLR raked in over $15.2 million in Federal grants last year alone, of
which $8.1 million was in Department of Education grants for charter
schools, schools that directly conflict with American ideals by teaching
non-assimilation. NCLR continually lobbies the U.S. Senate for open
borders and amnesty for illegal aliens, two issues that are against the
law and that threaten our nation's security and sovereignty.

Behind the transparent "respectable" facade of the NCLR lies the true
agenda, however, the "Reconquista" agenda. This is the agenda that led to
thousands of illegal immigrants defiling the streets of American cities by
waving Mexican flags, stomping on and burning the American flag, brazenly
defying the laws of our country, and demanding concessions. The
"Reconquista" is a movement espoused by the radical, racist group called
Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan (MEChA), whose motto is "Fur La
Raza todo. Fuera de La Raza nada" translated, "For the Race everything -
outside the Race nothing." This group is not shy about their goals or
their views of other races. Their founding principles are contained in "El
Plan Espiritual de Aztlan." Miguel Perez of Cal State Northridge's MEChA
chapter sums up this plan, "Our ultimate ideology is the liberation of
Aztlan. Communism would be closest to it. Once Aztlan is established,
ethnic cleansing would commence; non-Chicanos would have to be expelled
and opposition groups would have to be quashed because you have to keep
    power."

The NCLR, its public officials, and its allies make no repudiation of this
radical MEChA doctrine. In fact, according to recent tax records, NCLR is
one of the largest providers of funding to MEChA.

There exist numerous, patriotic Hispanic organizations that can capably
provide the American people and Congress necessary feedback of issues
confronting Americans of Latino heritage. The Nation Council of La Raza
    isnot one of those.

Especially since the new development that La Raza is THREATENING to cancel
their annual coven meeting in Kansas City, Missouri, UNLESS THE CITY FIRES
this nice lady in the parks committee because she is a Minuteman!!!! This
will means hundreds of thousands of lost dollars for the city.

Welcome to Senate Bill S.1923 the Housing Assistance Authorization Act of
    2007

S.1923 has rolled HR 1999's text right into it word for word. A backdoored
appropriation for the Raza Development Fund mentioned in HR 1999. AS a
taxpaying citizen and part owner of this once great country known as the
USA, I DEMAND NO TAX MONEY be given to LaRaza. again as I have stated they
are a racist group looking out for hispanics ONLY. let them go solicit the
hispanic community and the hispanic people for funding

    Sincerely,

I've heard the John Birch society is racist -- at least according to some latino activists I USED to know. I guess I should question the source. I don't know anything about it -- aside from what they said. I'm not accusing the John Birch society of being racist, I'm just asking.

I've heard the John Birch society is racist -- at least according to some latino activists
I think the key phrase here is "according to some latino activists"

    From Wikipedia:

The John Birch Society is a conservative American exceptionalist organization founded in 1958 to fight what it saw as growing threats to the Constitution of the United States, especially a suspected Communist infiltration of the United States government, and to support free enterprise. In the past it was known to have promoted a conspiracy theory view of history, and this was one of the reasons that the Society had been marginalized within the conservative movement since the 1960s.

It was named after John Birch, a United States military intelligence officer and Baptist missionary in World War II who was killed in 1945 by armed supporters of the Communist Party of China, and whom the JBS describes as "the first American victim of the Cold War." His parents joined the society as life members.

Based in Appleton, Wisconsin, the society describes itself as "a membership-based organization dedicated to restoring and preserving freedom under the United States Constitution." It says that members come from all walks of life and are active in all 50 states via local chapters. Its mission is to achieve "Less Government, More Responsibility, and — With God's Help — a Better World." The JBS was formed as an educational organization and does not endorse candidates but has often come out against political figures seen as un-American.

    Core Values:
The John Birch Society is anti-totalitarian, particularly anti-Socialist, anti-Communist, anti-Fascist and ultra-Libertarian. It strenuously defends what it sees as the original intention of the U.S. Constitution, rooted in Judeo-Christian principles. It idealizes the Founding Fathers as patriots anti-Communists. The John Birch Society opposes what it describes as collectivism, which in its view includes wealth redistribution, economic interventionism, Socialism, Communism, and Fascism. The John Birch Society believes that cabals and conspiracies throughout the world have significantly shaped history, and it seeks to expose and eliminate their claimed control in government in the modern era. It has subsequently been labeled "conspiracist" and has become isolated from many other conservative groups.[citation needed]

During the 1960s, The John Birch Society opposed aspects of the Civil Rights Movement because of concerns that the movement had a number of Communists in important positions and because of the the fact that it was backed and supported by the American Communist Party. The John Birch Society opposed the 1964 Civil Rights Act in the belief that it was in violation of the 10th Amendment to the United States Constitution and overstepped the rights of individual states to make laws regarding Civil Rights.[citation needed]

Finally, The John Birch Society is against a unified world government and has an illegal immigration reduction view on immigration reform. It has been a major opponent of the United Nations, NAFTA, CAFTA, and the FTAA, and other free-trade agreements with other nations, believing them to be destructive to American principles, the economy, freedom and national sovereignty.[citation needed]

    Done and added these comments:

La Raza's leader, Janet M., has said they "will put 'their' people first." That's a racist remark. Professor Jose Angel Gutierrez, the founding member of La Raza Unida Party and the receiver of La Raza's 'Chicano Hero Award' in 1994 has been quoted as saying:"We have got to elimnate the gringo, and what I mean by that is if the worst comes to the worst, we have got to kill him." If that's not racist, I don't know what is. All I know is that I don't want my tax dollars going to a group like La Raza.

La Raza has no business recieving so much money from our government, nor does the government have any business in giving out so much money to a minority group, especially one that is racist.

Rockfish, I'm no fan of La Raza, but La Raza Unida Party is a totally different group.
