According to the Federal Election Commission anyone can file to run for president.

“Anybody can fill out a Form 2,” says FEC Deputy Press Officer Christian Hilland. “We do vetting, but it’s more about did they fill out the information correctly? Did they review the fields? It doesn’t speak to the authenticity of the individual who filed the claim.”

The Republican Party only holds a primary contest. It is not the arbiter or enforcer of who is or isn’t eligible to run for President or who is or isn’t a citizen. The party has no power, whatsoever, to deny a candidate a place on the ballot, based on their citizenship eligibility, until the courts rule. I’ll repeat it so that it is clear: the party has NO POWER to make such a determination."
That is mostly correct. But the Republican Party most certainly has the authority to nominate its own candidate.

Again the pernicious grip of the Two Party System has hypnotized an observing public.

The only reason that the eligibility of a candidate is being contested at this point is because of the primaries and the role they play in a political party nominating a candidate for an elected office. Since lawful US government offices have taken the responsibility away from the political parties who must register with US government to take part, then the eligibility of the candidate is confused away from the authority of the political parties.

But really, it is the political parties who should be the sole arbiters of who is eligible to be nominated by the political party. Strictly speaking, a political party can choose their candidate any way they want to. They don't even have to have an election to choose a nominee at all. If the Republicans want to decide that anybody up for nomination for the presidency is not eligible, then that is strictly the affair of Republicans.

If the candidate they then choose is ineligible as a matter US law, then that is another concern altogether.

These are not subtle distinctions in the current dilemma of the Republican Party.

    Ballot access for presidential candidates

In order to get on the ballot, a candidate for president of the United States must meet a variety of complex, state-specific filing requirements and deadlines.

These regulations, known as ballot access laws, determine whether a candidate or party will appear on an election ballot. These laws are set at the state level. A presidential candidate must prepare to meet ballot access requirements well in advance of primaries, caucuses and the general election.

There are three basic methods by which an individual may become a candidate for president of the United States.

    1. An individual can seek the nomination of a political party. Presidential nominees are selected by delegates at national nominating conventions. Individual states conduct caucuses or primary elections to determine which delegates will be sent to the national convention.[1]
    2. An individual can run as an independent. Independent presidential candidates typically must petition each state to have their names printed on the general election ballot. For the 2016 presidential contest, it was estimated that an independent candidate would need to collect in excess of 900,000 signatures in order to appear on the general election ballot in every state.[1]
    3. An individual can run as a write-in candidate. In 35 states, a write-in candidate must file some paperwork in advance of the election. In seven states, write-in voting for presidential candidates is not permitted. The remaining states do not require write-in candidates to file paperwork in advance of the election.[1]

The information presented here applies only to presidential candidates. For additional information about ballot access requirements for state and congressional candidates, see this article.

State lawmakers have developed presidential ballot access procedures in an effort to prevent non-serious candidates from appearing on the ballot. Critics of these complex procedures contend that stringent ballot access requirements discourage candidate and voter participation in the electoral process.

The Republicans at their nominating convention can write rules to who is eligible to be nominated. They can make any rule they want to. And they can say in the nominating convention that they will only accept Natural Born Citizens as Presidential candidates. There is no law that says they can't do that.

This doesn't take the courts or anything. Use Original Intent, the original meaning and apply that. Born on soil to both parents who are US Citizens.

We need to start passing this around then. We need to start telling republicans everywhere, that we must obey the Natural Born citizen clause at the Nominating Convention. No candidate will be considered unless they conform to the Original Intent of the Constitution!

LARGEST TEA PARTY GROUP IN AMERICA ENDORSES TED CRUZ

    By: CR Wire | January 31, 2016

Senator Ted Cruz has earned the endorsement of the largest Tea Party group in America. The Tea Party Patriots Citizens Fund announced today they are backing the senator from Texas for President.

“We seek a candidate who shares our values: personal freedom, economic freedom, and a debt-free future,” said Chairman Jenny Beth Martin in a press release. “I am proud to announce our endorsement for president of the United States: Senator Ted Cruz!”

There were a number of steps for each candidate to be considered for the endorsement. Candidates filled out a questionnaire, were interviewed, underwent vetting by opposition research, and finally Tea Party Patriots held an endorsement primary in which voters were allowed to voice their preference for the endorsement.

The press release contained quotes from various Tea Party leaders across the country:

“I was asked a few weeks ago ‘what makes a great president?’ I want our next president to have clear, easily identifiable, conservative principles, which he has lived with for his entire life. I want our next president to be able to clearly communicate his principles to America. I want our next president to have an understanding of the ‘levers of government.’

He should demonstrate a history of creative, constitutional, and effective solutions that have furthered his principles; and I want to be assured that he will continue to do exactly what he said he would do. And finally, I want our next president’sactions and principles to be guided by a spiritual moral compass.

I think that man is the man I voted for in this endorsement process; Senator Ted Cruz.” – Frank Racz, Fayetteville, NC

“I have been a grassroots tea party activist for over 6 years, and I met Ted Cruz at a small event in Houston that several of our local groups held about four years ago when he was running against the establishment for Senate. He exuded a quiet confidence as I grilled him on why he was running and why I should support him. He told me he would visit with every grassroots group as he campaigned – and he did. He said Texas needed a Senator that would work for the people, and would stick to constitutionally conservative principles – and we did. He promised he would be that Senator, and we could trust him to do what he says – and we can. Over his four years in the Senate, he has fought for us on issues like repealing Obamacare and abolishing the IRS. I trust that Ted Cruz believes what he says and that he will do what he says! He has earned that trust from me, and he will earn it from all of you! I am honored and thrilled to be here in Iowa with the Tea Party Patriots to endorse Senator Ted Cruz to be the next President of the United States of America.” – Darcy Kahrhoff, Huntington Beach, CA

“It was 6 years ago, almost to the day, that I had the privilege to meet Ted Cruz for the 1st time in January 2010. Ted had invited a dozen or so members of the more active Tea Party groups in Texas for an early pre-announcement of his intent to run for the United State Senate. At that time both of our Senators were as much ‘Washington Cartel’ as they make them. In that room we were all fierce watchdogs, not ready for a new politician willing to deal and get along.

A couple of hours later, as we came out of that meeting, we all had sparkles in our eyes. The reaction was unanimous: ‘This is just too good to be true. Is this guy for real? If he is, we have found the most incredible gem we could ever have dreamed of.’ Well, during these last 6 years, because he first was my candidate, and then my Senator, I have watched him very closely, day after day. And yes, I can tell you now, we have not been disappointed. Ted is for real!

He said what he was going to do, and he did what he said he would do. He has been the game changer in corrupt Washington, DC. Ted Cruz has been a fantastic Senator who made Texas proud! Ted Cruz will be the genuine and strong President our Country needs to become great again! I am proud to stand by Ted and endorse him! God Bless Iowa! Please show us the road!” – Suzanne Guggenheim, Corpus Christi, TX

Members of Tea Party Patriots have pledged to vote en bloc for the candidate who received their endorsement to ensure that he or she would have the greatest opportunity to win the Republican nomination.

Mr. Cruz will need this kind of consolidated support to win what will be a contested Iowa caucus on Monday.

Key Tea Party rep endorses Rubio

    By Lisa Hagen

    Getty Images
Rep. Matt Salmon (R-Ariz.) on Thursday threw his support behind Marco Rubio’s presidential bid, according to a statement from the Florida senator's campaign.

Salmon, who’s a key player in the Tea Party, endorsed Rubio as a candidate with strong national security bona fides who can take on the threat of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

"More than any other candidate, Marco Rubio has the right ideas to take on the threats we face around the world," Salmon said in the statement, which was provided to The Arizona Republic.

"As a member of the Intelligence and Foreign Relations committees, [Rubio] has seen firsth and the importance of identifying our enemies and standing by our friends, and he knows what it takes to win the war against ISIS," he added.

Salmon, who represents a district near the border with Mexico, also touted Rubio’s stance on immigration and border security.

"When Marco Rubio is president, he will cancel President Obama's unconstitutional executive amnesty, sanctuary cities will lose their federal funding, and criminal aliens will be immediately deported," Salmon said. "As a border-state representative in Congress, I trust him to solve these problems once and for all."

After a strong third-place finish at Monday night’s Iowa caucuses, Rubio has been looking to unite establishment and Tea Party support heading into the New Hampshire primary on Feb. 9. On Wednesday night, Rubio overtook GOP rival Jeb Bush in the number of congressional endorsements.

Since Monday's caucuses, the Florida senator has landed six endorsements, including one from Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.), which is expected to boost Rubio in the South Carolina primary on Feb. 20.

Well, I thought the Tea Party would stand up for the Constitution--but I guess not. We can't depend upon no one to uphold the Constitution! I thought we live in a republic and a Rule of Law? I guess not.

Just to rehash, here is a list of links that teach the Natural Born Citizen Clause of the Constitution and a couple of sites that show that Ted Cruz was a Canadian citizen and can't possibly be a Natural Born citizen!

John Roland, Constitution Society. Neither McCain, Obama, nor Cruz are Natural Born Citizens.

This needs to be added at the Republican nominating convention. The Republicans who seek to disavow Trump, are expending no energy to obey the Constitution of the US! How sad.
