35 plants will feed the neighborhood
we don't live in a neighborhood but we eat alot of tomatos and don't even dent the amount we harvest. those 'extras' go to family and friends. we have been doing this for years. our friends have an even bigger garden and they do the same, extras are not wasted.

we have 35+ tomatos, 30+ pepper plants (multiple varieties) 100+ garlic, chives, onions and spinage. and of course the eternal blackberries and mulberries. i love summer!

SOSAD planted some tomatoes called Brandy Wine this year that I am dying to taste. I told her I would be over with my salt shaker just as soon as they bear fruit.

tinybob and sosad, we too are REALLY getting tired of the fall like weather here (we live right along the Columbia River Gorge entrance area, cold wind and rain).

I have never been a tomato eater, other than on sandwiches, but my husband will eat them like apples. As soon as it looks like our crummy weather is behind us, I am going to get some big planters and plant some, along with some other stuff.

William, have you planted zuchinni? I found out once, only plant one or you will have more than what you can ever eat, unless you are a confirmed vegan.

Oooh.........No meat with it? Gotta have turkey with that tomato.

I have a friend who grew up on mayonaisse sandwiches (her mother had four girls and was single, it was a have to kind of thing), and the first time I saw them eat that I was appalled and when you said that W, it reminded me of that.
