You all are cheering me up. Perhaps Bush's speech Monday will be
our elected officials' equivalent of "Pearl Harbor" -- a fight they will
wish they had not started! I will attempt to "re-start my engine" for
combat; however, after Monday night's speech, it may "re-start"
itself automatically!

Ok Folks, Just went through this thread and lost track of who I wanted to address on what.

I'm and RN and mother and grandmother. Never military, but my brother was a Marine.

The internet is were I found out about this situation. Certainly, I did NOT get it from the MSM.

I have DSL so while I'm here with you, during weekdays, I'm calling/faxing/emailing. You've been like a university for me. I've learned so much in such a concentrated period of time.

Everyone, indeed, has their own abilities. Since I AM the only caretaker of my beloved mother...as long as she's alive...I cannot do visits or marches. But I WILL support those efforts in any way I can.

I'm poor. No income and have gone through the little amount of savings I managed to save after the gang put me $25,000 in debt and I paid it back. Thought I had a job, that I could do at home, fell through because of our hurricane season last year...they had to do too much repair work and deleted my position. I'm working on another. I'm only letting y'all know this personal stuff, not for sympathy, we don't have time for that. Just to remind you that everyone has their own reality in day to day existence. I do have to feed my mom!

So, please, I know we all get frustrated from time to time, just try to get that, we are all needed...where ever we are on the continuum of activism.

We must remember that whatever the Prez says on Monday is merely lip service. Unless action is taken, and action is MAINTAINED, then the speech is basically meaningless.

The only thing that the speech indicates is that WE ARE NOT LOSING!

Someone is pushing him to make the speech. That means someone somewhere is feeling the pressure from our efforts. Now is not the time to sit back and revel in our efforts.

AFTER MONDAY'S SPEECH, WE MUST PUSH EVEN HARDER FOR OUR LAWS TO BE ENFORCED. Whatever he says, keep applying pressure to everyone on every front.

The fight has just gotten started.

I don't see the House members who are opposed to this backing down. Even if Frist and Reid are able to rig the composition of the conference committee-which seems likely-they will still have to get past Chairman Sensenbrenner. My fear is that they'll try to ram this amnesty monstrosity through in a lame-duck session of Congress.
