    Say what ?
Excuse me. That's fascism. Let only those speak what you want to hear. That is dangerous. Know with saying that, I don't think we should attack another poster or their beliefs, but if we disagree, we disagree respectfully.

Here's what my word processor kicks out from it's dictionary (regarding the definition of fascism):

fascism >noun 1 an authoritarian and nationalistic right-wing system of government. 2 extreme right-wing, authoritarian, or intolerant views or practice.
Fascist governments are those usually characterized by a growing or colluding of strong, conservative, authoritarian government with large business interests. The governments of pre and WWII Italy, Chile under Pinochet, Franco in Spain (circa 1940s-1970s), etc. are used as sort of the 'classic' examples. Remember, people in Italy used to say they liked Mussolini because he 'made the trains run on time'(?).

The main difference between Fascist governments and Communistic or Socialistic ones, is that the strong authoritarian government is common to both, but the relationship to private commerce and business is qualitatively different. It is more a dominating or even controlling factor (for the socialistic/communistic ones) than a co-opting one (as in fascistic one).

The above is my wording but based on having suffered through a couple years in a Pol Sci program. I cannot say I am fan of either basic system above. Good 'ole American-style democracy suits me just fine... when... it is allowed to operate as those brilliant designers intended a couple hundred years ago...

At the very least, this would be an attack on first ammendent rights.

Phrede have you seen the video YouTube series with Glenn Beck and Jonah Goldberg about his new book. "Liberal Facism?" Click on the link and to the right is more in Glenn's series on it.

    It's quite interesting.

Yeah, I know about him/the book. I don't think I've seen that video, but have seen a couple of his interviews about it on Beck, and a few other misc. places as well.

Re: the point you're making about it - oh, yes, for sure, the progressive crowd has their own variety of fascism - although I probably wouldn't call it 'fascisim' per se.

I would term it something like:
unconditional political correctness+authoritarianism+extreme egocentrism (the 'me, me me' mindset). That is it's own form of fascistic thinking I suppose

Isn't "unconditinal political correctness" (shutting down others viewpoints) fascist?

I think he brought that out about global warming. They want to shut down all dissenting voices.

I resent people popping in just long enough to insult us and then popping back out again.

After spending enough time researching other sites before joining ALIPAC,
I question whether these comments are meant as constructive criticism or just a way of silencing us completely.

Well, short answer: the idea is, but the terminology really doesn't fit.
'Fascism' is most closely associated with right-wing political movements.

Just so you know the founders HATED with a passion "democracies" thats why we are a REPUBLIC....admittedly a republic that lost its way as to State sovereignty by the violation of the 10th amendment based on misapplication of things like "commerce" and "general welfare" being used in a way not intended.
