Oklahoma Parking Lot Convention Delegates Convention at OKGOP live stream tonight!
Submitted by flybeech on Tue, 05/22/2012 - 08:59
Ron Paul 2012
The Oklahoma GOP pulled out all the stops at the Oklahoma GOP Convention to ensure the "presumptive nominee" didn't loose any more delegates to Ron Paul. The astonishing number of rules violations is far too lengthy to enumerate here, but we were forced to continue to continue the convention in the parking lot, where every rule was meticulously followed. Today is the deadline for our filings and we're ready with complete, edge to edge transcriptions and many gigabytes of video. Just in case the GOP forgets their own rules again, we'll have an extra copy on hand, just for them.
At 5PM central time today, the GOP will be meeting with the Liberty Slate delegates and the fabulous Fish family Stream Team will attempt to stream the meeting live. Of course, the Oklahoma GOP isn't thrilled with the idea of transparency, especially since the embarrassment of our convention demonstrates they will stoop to any level necessary to earn the $2-million Mitt Romney brought 'em on the Thursday before our convention. Mitt paid good money for results and the Oklahoma GOP is working very hard to ensure Mitt gets his money's worth.
The Oklahoma grassroots and the Stream Team at RonPaulOK.com hopes y'all will tune in to see what happens.

By PATRICK GAVIN
“...'I get cranked up, I start talking about Hollywood and what’s wrong with what. Or politics. I might start in on Mitt Romney,” Willis said, out of nowhere, to his inteviewer.
“He’s just such a disappointment, an embarrassment. Chin up, hair up. He’s just one of those guys, one of those guys who says he’s going to change everything… And he’ll get in there, and they’ll smile at him and introduce themselves: ‘We’re Congress, we make sure nothing changes.’
He won’t do it. He can’t. Everybody wants to be Barack Obama.
And what did he change?'..."

Ron Paul 2012 Wins 12 Of 13 Minnesota Delegates
By IBTimes Staff Reporter
May 22, 2012 11:29 AM EDT
Ron Paul's 2012 campaign won 12 of 13 Minnesota delegates at the state's Republican convention this past weekend, demonstrating that the GOP presidential primary candidate's strategy of quietly securing delegates is continuing to pay off.
Ron Paul's 2012 campaign said last week that it would not be spending large sums of money on remaining state primaries in pursuit of popular vote supremacy, which is all but locked up by former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney.
But the campaign explained that it does plan to continue to lock up delegate hauls, which Ron Paul hopes will allow him to have a major presence at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla., this summer, or even to pull off an unlikely win during what will probably be a raucous convention.
During the announcement about scaling back the Ron Paul 2012 campaign, Minnesota was identified as the next target of Paul's delegate strategy, and it appears to have paid off, as he won 12 of 13 delegates at the state convention, according to Yahoo News.
That seems to be in keeping with the plans of the campaign, according to Ron Paul 2012 campaign manager John Tate:
"Victories in Minnesota and other states demonstrate that Ron Paul supporters possess the adaptability, organizational muscle, and unmatched enthusiasm required to continue winning delegates in upcoming contests," Tate said in a statement obtained by Yahoo.
The clean-up over the weekend means that of 40 national delegates Minnesota will send to the RNC, 32 of them have committed to supporting Ron Paul, who has yet to win any primary's popular vote.
It's an odd scenario -- Ron Paul is going to have large numbers of delegates headed into the convention, but he hasn't been able to get much of the popular vote. He chalks it up to a lot of things, one of which is his stated independence from special interests, who have bankrolled much of the primary-winning candidates' campaigns.
"Our campaign will continue to work in the state convention process. We will continue to take leadership positions, win delegates, and carry a strong message to the Republican National Convention that liberty is the way of the future," Paul said Monday, according to USA Today.
"Moving forward, however, we will no longer spend resources campaigning in primaries in states that have not yet voted. Doing so with any hope of success would take many tens of millions of dollars we simply do not have," he said.
Paul also earned delegates in Michigan, Virginia and Vermont over the weekend, adding to his haul, which now counts states all across the country.
Though an Associated Press tally recently put Romney's delegate count at 966 vs. Ron Paul's 104 (1,144 delegates are needed to secure the party's nod), that greatly underestimates the endurance of Paul's influence, which could make for an interesting convention.
Paul is on track to notch major delegate hauls in Iowa, Nevada, Washington and Alaska. Even Romney's home state of Massachusetts is leaning Paul-ward, according to the Boston Globe.
One of the key factors at play that is allowing Ron Paul 2012 to continue to rack up delegates is the level of "anyone-but-Romney" sentiment that remains in the Republican party's more conservative corners. As the party has lurched rightward in recent years, libertarian and ultra-conservative groups have gone from the fringes to the mainstream, which only helps Paul's prospects.
As voters who went for Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, Michele Bachmann, Rick Perry and Herman Cain begin to weigh the two remaining candidates, many of them are joining the Paul camp out of dissatisfaction with the policies of Romney.
And Paul, though a long-shot, still has a chance of winning the nomination, if historical precedent is to be considered. Warren G. Harding, who in 1920 went into the RNC with fewer delegates than any other candidate still on the ballot, ended up winning the GOP nod, and eventually the presidency.

A Victory for All of Us: Obama's NDAA struck down in court of law

In January, attorneys Carl Mayer and Bruce Afran asked me to be the lead plaintiff in a lawsuit against President Barack Obama and Defense Secretary Leon Panetta that challenged the harsh provisions of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). We filed the lawsuit, worked for hours on the affidavits, carried out the tedious depositions, prepared the case and went to trial because we did not want to be passive in the face of another egregious assault on basic civil liberties, because resistance is a moral imperative, and because, at the very least, we hoped we could draw attention to the injustice of the law. None of us thought we would win. But every once in a while the gods smile on the damned.
U.S. District Judge Katherine Forrest, in a 68-page opinion, ruled Wednesday that Section 1021 of the NDAA was unconstitutional. It was a stunning and monumental victory. With her ruling she returned us to a country where—as it was before Obama signed this act into law Dec. 31—the government cannot strip a U.S. citizen of due process or use the military to arrest him or her and then hold him or her in military prison indefinitely. She categorically rejected the government’s claims that the plaintiffs did not have the standing to bring the case to trial because none of us had been indefinitely detained, that lack of imminent enforcement against us meant there was no need for an injunction and that the NDAA simply codified what had previously been set down in the 2001 Authorization to Use Military Force Act. The ruling was a huge victory for the protection of free speech. Judge Forrest struck down language in the law that she said gave the government the ability to incarcerate people based on what they said or wrote. Maybe the ruling won’t last. Maybe it will be overturned. But we and other Americans are freer today than we were a week ago. And there is something in this.
The government lawyers, despite being asked five times by the judge to guarantee that we plaintiffs would not be charged under the law for our activities, refused to give any assurances. They did not provide assurances because under the law there were none. We could, even they tacitly admitted, be subject to these coercive measures. We too could be swept away into a black hole. And this, I think, decided the case.
